To be fair Exetior's methods aren't close to being the best ways of achieving his goals since he not only took over Sonic's body but went on to kill everyone he loves and cares about in horrible ways depending on what he does to them in the simulations and it doesn't help that Sonic was locked away in the dark mind to prevent him from knowing what was really going on in the real world.

I know this is going to sound off but hear me out the two factions that are currently fighting in this world are darkness of despair and the light of Destruction if we look at the yin and yang symbol we can see and the light and dark halves there is a dot of the other my thought is some people who have drawn to light can become consumed by their power and some who have fallen to the darkness will see the light of Truth there are still two factions that haven't taken action I'm going to call them the Light Of Hope and the gentle Darkness.
