The next time you listen to Sam Cooke’s song “Bring It On Home To Me” you can clearly hear Lou Rawl’s signature voice collaborating in that classic hit. They were neighbors and good friends.
A real gentleman singing. This song is one of my favorites despite being 40 years old but the same never becomes dated. The Singer has a voice that is both manly and sexy. Nice to hear and enjoy.
Lou was a master artist and genuine talent; he never needed a computer or auto tune to "help" him hit the right notes (or coverup for any vocal deficiencies). He sang pop, R&B, blues, soul, even standards and always with amazing class. I remember watching his Telethon years ago (the "Parade of Stars" he convened to raise money for the United Negro College Fund) when he and performed a duet with Frank Sinatra: classy then, still classy today. That was Lou.
Veteran guy from Chicago and was popular in the 1960's to 1970's and had hit songs like this one and lady luck and music was played in Cannon Ball Run with Burt Reynolds and Dom Deluise and Farrah Fawucett etc.
I was there at this-* taping, right up front. Things were different then. Before the song started, Wolfman Jack told us all to be “mellow” and just “sit back” and listen to the smooth vibe of Mr Lou Rawls”. Also the stage manager had been out before, telling us how Greatly important it was for us all to be very quiet and sit still so the cameras 🎥 could capture him properly. People were very naive back then about cameras and filming etc. there was a different “air of respect” back then and audiences at Television Show 📺 tapings were expected to be quiet and polite. It was such a different time. If you’d screamed out, or half danced in place, wiggled your body, or raised hands and clapped high or anything* that the audience as a whole wasn’t doing, you’d have been looked at, and treated as a rude Freak. ! Seriously. Tv 📺 expected and desired are more calm, collective sort of look and vibe, which looks strange to us now. Even in movie theatres 🍿 people kept mostly quiet and kept their thoughts and reactions to themselves with rare exception. It’s just the way it was. Very different times. 🎉❤
I Dedícate this song to someone who never gave me a chance someone who wasted my time with her when she didn’t feel anything for me. Someday when u Care for someone you’ll never find another love like mine and I put that on everything!! ✌🏽
It’s all good, just know that she and you weren’t meant to be. For all you know, you could’ve dodged a bullet! Don’t harbor any feelings of ill will towards her. You don’t need that kind of negative energy coming back to you!
they were mesmerized, in awe. I get like that sometimes until i realize who is singing, BUT i play it about 6 times a day. i find so many postings on TH-cam and play them one after the other.
Lovely voice , song and man, great songs back then. The decades of music were better back then .take me baxk to the 70s. Its terrible now. The music just a load rubbish.
I met Lou and spoke with him for 5-10 minutes when he sang with our local symphony orchestra! Coolest person I ever met!
How' lucky U was ❤
Coolness at a whole different level. Gorgeous voice, song, clothes, smile.......stunning! Pure gold.
Good lord. So smooth. Lou Rawls is slaying it as is the piano player.
Look at the hand movements on the three backup singers. Beautifully choreographed! 🙂😘☺
Here's another great song from the same era.
Neil Sedaka was so awesome here... th-cam.com/video/2IrDz-urxVw/w-d-xo.html
They definitely do not make wonderful music like this anymore...what talent...fantastic voice, fantastic song!

Dated...like fine wine.
Love this old song😊
Can't agree more. And the lyrics are so confident, yet tender and warm.
One of his best songs. Lou, Hope you see from Heaven, that we still love you and your music.
He certainly does ! 😀🙏🏼😇⚡🎶💝💫
Great arrangement by the band. Such a mellow and smooth song.
What the man is trying to say is - do what you want but you're gonna miss my loving. I think that's the message.
Best version... listen to that piano and the orchestra! His voice! The time he takes to pronounce every word. Everything was perfect
Lou Rawls - vocal perfection!
👏🏻❤️😎LOU RAWLS…70’s had the BEST music…look how handsome he was, too! FABULOUS time to be young!!🙏🏻
Y'all hear Mr. Lou Rawls busting out some of that soul brother scat before the song got going? Lou was one cool dude!
*Man that Piano caught me from the very begining* *Outstanding*

What a band and horn arrangement!
Classist singing and silkiest chops in the singing game.

Wow! What a SWOONER! He's as smooth as silk! Lou has had to make up for the GHASTLY background music they need a rehearsal! In fact several!
So, smooth and easy flowing; this is how singing used be, It's no wonder, we of this late boomer generation, just knew every babe was fair game
A CLASSY singer, syrupy, with such a unique golden voice ! I miss those times .

Love the piano almost as much as Lou!
So great! Just wondering, though - how did the audience manage to stay so still? Bizarre.
they were mesmerized, in awe. I get like that sometimes until i realize who is singing, BUT i play it about 6 times a day. i find so many postings on TH-cam and play them one after the other.
Television studio audiences were never alive, they always seemed dead.
Same as they were during many dance songs…Don’t Leave Ne This Way they barely moved!
@@magneto7930
Not on Soul Train!
@@nibsvkh maybe not but there were definitely some shows that I heard of that actually demanded the audience sit still as a requirement for attending.
Lovely voice , song and man, great songs back then. The decades of music were better back then .take me baxk to the 70s. Its terrible now. The music just a load rubbish.
