Kelly the Ipswich Story

Legend has it that the story of the Kelly brothers ended in Queensland, with Dan Kelly fleeing to Ipswich after Ned's execution. Before opening Kelly at the Cremorne Theatre, our own Kelly boys ventured out to Ipswich with director Todd MacDonald and Researcher Baz McAlister in pursuit of the truth. Did Dan really die in that fire? Are his remains buried so close to our own home? And how much of Matthew Ryan's play is based on truth?
Paul Tully, local councillor and infamous Kelly aficionado was only too happy to share some of his insight, taking us to the supposed grave site of Dan himself. For further reassurance, we turn to the only other man who could be considered an authority on the matter -- Paul Pisasale, the enthusiastic mayor of Ipswich.

Check out James Ryan born 1871, brothers Joseph & Jack Ryan, son of Jack & Anne Ryan ( Anne was sister to Ned and Dan's father ), cousin to Ned and Dan Kelly. The Ryan family were part of the crowd gathered at the Glenrowan Inn (as per information from Royal Commission ). Joseph and Jack were strong sympathisers and rumoured to have been at the McDonnell Hotel on the other side of the train line, aiding the Kelly gang prior to moving to the Glenrowan Inn. Yes, he would have had intimate knowledge of the siege and events before but he would have been 9 yrs of age at the time and Dan was 19...just saying ! Hard to tell the actual age of some aged people, especially when they claim they are older...check out information recorded at the Royal Commission.

there is still kellys living at lake Manchester Ipswich QLD been there a long time I knew on of them in 1972 very quiet family and would never talk about there family seamed a bit ward
