    The SWM is a great value motorcycle. I sincerely hope they don't stop the R&D on the dirt section... The Chinese financial influence has not hurt the company at all. My RS500 has been one of the cheapest dirt bikes to own and service I have had the pleasure to own... They have shown you don't need to spend a quizillion dollars to enjoy a motorcycle. As Royal Enfield have done, they have a very solid following. I wish they could do something about the seat heights. I get a nose bleed from being up so high

      🤣. Great to hear. If only we could still get them in the UK. Speedy com are close to me but they don’t have, and haven’t had, any dirt bikes in for ages.

    The 'Six' bikes you see are the 'Six Days' bikes.. basically copies of the old XR400 twin exhaust singles, which have been expanded to 440cc, either by stroke or bore.

      Can you get them over there? They aren’t the easiest to find in the UK either unfortunately.

    I would consider one if I had a dealer fairly close, but last I checked there are only about 30 U.S. dealers - the nearest being 8 hours away. I hope they can build up that network. Beta has many dealers and a great parts network, I own a Beta XT 300 but wish SWM success. For now I''ll likely add a Beta RRS to my stable.

    • @PeakMotorcycles
      @PeakMotorcycles  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think that’s 30 more than we have in the UK at the moment! The Betas are pretty awesome though, so I’m sure you’ll get by! 😉

    I bet that 1200 cruiser is heavy, even for a cruiser that size. It's good to see so many 500cc or so singles on the market. I speak as a former XT500 man.

    Excellent value bikes. The SM & trail bikes are basically Husqvarnas but with modern fuel injection with great components & well built for 3-4k less than equivalent KTMs & Huskys. Just a shame there are no UK dealers anymore 😒

    I own a swm rs300r great bike it’s just a ten year old husky 310 only problem is the importer went bust in 2020 so no importer in the uk as for your CCM the engine they use is a SWM not a husky also AJP use these engines as well

    • @PeakMotorcycles
      @PeakMotorcycles  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a shame about the importer. Perhaps that’ll change in time. The CCM uses the engine from the TE630 when Husqvarna was owned by BMW. That said, it is used in several bikes these days, so could well be in an SWM too. May I ask why you think it’s an SWM? (I only think it’s the husky engine as that’s what CCM told me, and a quick check on Google suggests the same. Happy to be corrected though.

      @@PeakMotorcycles ktm brought husky in 2013 and closed the factory in Italy which was built by bmw when they owned husky the designer of the engine and Chinese backer purchased the factory and the old name SWM and changed the oil capacity to 1.8 litres and add fuel injection yes it does have it roots in husky but has been changed over the years and husqvarna only exist in name only as they are now white Ktm

      @@keithkeeble7483 you nailed it Keith.
      I’ve had an RS300R for 4 years and it’s a brilliant trail bike.
      Better than the husky’s they used to be, with more oil capacity for longer service intervals.
      Half the price of a ktm.
      Maybe not quite as good as the Austrians, but I’m no racer so why would I care?

      There’s a better option, which I missed from the Kove video. I’ll put it up as a separate clip, but they have a 180kg 800X which looks quite interesting. 50kg lighter than the new V-Strom 800?

    My biggest concern about all these new bike suppliers is the lack of spares.

    • @PeakMotorcycles
      @PeakMotorcycles  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup, that and dealer support. That said a lot of them seem to use existing platforms. I know that won't cover all of them, but most of the 'new' engines seem to come from established manufacturers. The rest are reworked 'classics'. I know that doesn't apply to body parts and others, but I guess the popular ones will survive, the others won't.

    • @CyberGasty
      @CyberGasty 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SWMs are old Huskys 310 and 510 engins. I thought they will do some updates from the last ones in 2019, but nothing new. I was considering RS300 but at the end I bought Beta X-trainer, since better dealer support.

    • @g33keh76
      @g33keh76 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      there's next to no UK support, but as with all the chinese bikes, if you look hard enough, you can find parts that fit others..

    • @PeakMotorcycles
      @PeakMotorcycles  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nothing listed on the SWM website for the UK. They cover the rest of Europe though. Maybe an export thing? Or lack of supply and not a big enough market?

      if you want 'official' spares then its italy, but as i said elsewhere, you can search for the rebadged identical bikes, ie. MASH, and you'll find bits all over ebay.
      i've got a yammy clutch lever and generic wheel bearings, and generic brake pads for my swm. takes a bit of searching and fb groups but its doable.

      I think these singles are made by Shineray themselves, but I could be wrong. Some of the Chinese made engines are Japanese designs made under licence (e.g. AJP air cooled 125’s are the old YBR engine made this way). Not sure if that applies here though.
