Saw Emmet last week and I have to tell you, his performance was the kind you see at the large venues in New York, Chicago, etc. Of course, he's been in those places with Celtic Thunder, but to come in wearing a tuxedo and sing in front of about 500 people or so at a local church was just outstanding, it shows how down to earth he and his accompanist are, and they delivered like it was the biggest stage in the world, that's how much he and his pianist Seamus Brett cared about their performance. Both of these fine men are professional through and through, with a beautiful touch of Ireland's music, wit, and humor mixed in, it was more than I thought it would be, their fellow citizens should be proud of Emmet and Seamus, they represent the best of their country!
My gg grandmother was a famine orphan who came to Australia in 1850. Even though this song pertains to America I can still imagine her emotions at the age of 16. She married a Scottish convict. 88% of my DNA is Irish. Beautiful classically trained voice and such emotion.
Oh Seamus, you are an amazing artist as well!! You listen intently as you start a phrase, set one up or close one down. I love what you two men create together. 🎶 💕 🎶
My Dad came here as just a Wee lad ... he served his country in combat; he served his community as a skilled engineer working to build the society with the highest standard of living in the world....and he served his Faith as CCD instructor, usher, commentor, and devoted member of Holy Name Society.... he was my Dad and he was my hero
This song hits home for me. My parents came from Ireland and they came by way of Ellis Island! One from the North of Ireland and one from Kilkenny. They met at a dance and the rest is history!! I love Emmet and his beautiful voice!!!
Love it. Thank you for sharing this story, Ann. I'm currently writing about Irish Immigrants to America, and I love hearing different accounts like that.
Beautiful, emotional version of a great Irish song. Thank you for posting. My grandmother, from County Mayo, by divine intervention maybe, made it to Ellis Island in 1912. She purchased a ticket on the Titanic, but when her cousin wanted to also come, they could not get a second ticket, so they came on the Lusitania instead.
I'm choking up hard here. That man has amazing power and incredibly strong emotions for this song. I'm German and I love this guy's version of the song
Each time I hear this song, my eyes well up with tears, so well does it capture that irrevocable sense of letting go and the hope we are truly coming home.
This such a beautiful song. Emmet is the best version I have heard. His passion and emotions put into this song make you feel that you are standing on the island with Annie Moore. Thank you Emmet! ❤️
I’m so glad Emmet is back,l Love his Voice,he’s very good,l had there frist on many shows him being on the show. His Voice is beautiful,As much as l truly injoy Damian,l think my favorite is Emmet the best.l noticed on Celtic Thunder X that Damian sings more than any of them.l would like to see Emmet a little more. Thanks Guys.
I'm honestly imagining what it would be like to be an immigrant and a young one at that. I'll just have to keep imagining while continuing to thank those that were. Beautiful and heart wrenching rendition Emmet. I'm choked up as I head off to work to do what so many immigrants before me did (even though I was born in America).
Not Irish, but I have been there and hope to go back again. Lovely country, friendly people, and a checkered past. My visit was in the winter, and I hope to go back in the summer. Still the green isle was great in winter as well!!!
This young man has such a wonderful rich voice ….full of sensitivity and emotion ….we need to hear more from this guy. Super

One of my favorite songs, sung by many people.
Seamus is incredible, as always. And, of course, Emmet is perfect!
