Solo Wild Camping in an abandoned WW2 pillbox on sea cliffs, Great Orme, Llandudno

- Solo wild camping high up on sea cliffs with stunning sea views in an abandoned WW2 pillbox lookout building.
Part of the old military Artillery training school during ww2.
Using the Alpkit hunka Xl and Robens serac 600 down sleeping bag to stay warm on a freezing night just above freezing.
Cooking mushroom and truffle pasta and enjoying the sea views across to Anglesey and the Welsh mountains.
The steak and mushrooms meal was from my previous visit.
This pillbox is on the Great Orme in llandudno North Wales and is a stunning area to explore with plenty of interesting history , wildlife and a really nice coastal walk.
Also my first Drone flights on my channel using the budget DJI mini SE drone.

Looked like a summers day and you sure that was Wales, it always rains ever time I am there😠. I know a lot of people love those old WW2 pillboxes and fair enough they are of historical interest but (imo) they are a blot on the landscape and totally out of keeping with the beautiful coastline and views you had there, both of which was stunning, really showcased by the drone footage. Yes they seem to attract people drinking, peeing and leaving broken bottles with a lot of graffiti (sorry I will get off my high horse😁). A real moody but still beautiful morning to wake up to, such a gorgeous coastline there, we must get there one day, cheers Alan
Alright Alan mate , yeah definitely know where your coming from with the blot on the land and the graffiti places like this seem to attract.
I was pleasantly surprised that the ww2 pillbox i stayed in didn't smell of urine or have too much litter in, they have interesting history but the scenery would be much better without them, there's some nice places on the Welsh coast , nice one mate , all the best 👍

It certainly made me wonder, too, Gaz. How many of the men who trained there never returned. That aside, this was a perfect spot for a bivvy. Thanks for sharing.

👍 #43 What a fab location Gaz! You can see it is one of those nice days that are just pleasant to be out in. Then you get that 4 o clock 'mist' and hour by hour the temp' drops and on to a feezing cold night! And with no tent! Some great preserved old WWII buildings. We have a WWI (I think) pillbox where we walk our 2 dogs and it looks like it will stand forever. The drone footage makes a huge difference showing more landscape, wow! I imagine during their training, there would be many who have slept there before you Gaz. A down sleeping bag... that looks super warm. Some nice food in the belly and what more could you ask for... well, perhaps no rain, lol. 👍◕‿◕

Wales has some of the best views being in Wales and having good weather is a bonus

Cracking video again Gaz, What a stunning location. Just a shame you didn't get a full sunset but it still looked amazing. The pasta and broccoli looked really tasty too . What an amazing spot Gaz, that pillbox looked like it was in the Swiss alps with sea around it.... so COOL 😎 Next time you do one take a dustpan and brush with ya, it's the same on that Seafort we slept in... glass everywhere 😡😡 Did you put you pack against the entrance to stop the sheep coming in? Thanks Lee mate , I remember that sea Fort camp you did that was a cool spot , I was half expecting to find this pillbox full of sheep 🐑 💩, but it was quite clean apart from the glass and dust , I didn't block the entrance but the sheep kept away luckily, nice one mate 👍 atb

@@GazianoOutdoors Gaz, you were the one who inspired me to do my first wild camp on Mam Tor, I had no clue until I saw your awesome video of you camping on the Mam Tor 'Ramparts', I then went to beautiful Castleton with my teenage Son and we did an overnight camp on Mam Tor, it was incredible, just like your video I first saw, a big thank you my friend.
