The British Indian Ocean Territory has never been separately recognised at the UN Special Committee on Decolonisation - though the Crown Colony of Mauritius was, and the Falkland Islands and Gibraltar still are.
The UK is keeping Diego Garcia and the Americans are staying.
So nothing to worry about.

I can't take the guy on the left seriously. He say Starmer is popular because he had a large majority. Sorry, but it doesn't work quite like that. He has a majority but with less votes than when Corbyn ran and lost in 2019. Thats not Labour being popular, it's the Tories being so unpopular that the real winners of the election were Reform, Green and Lib Dems who all grew significantly as Tories AND Labour lost votes. So Starmer isn't popular, he's just not as unpopular as Rishi (which isn't even true now because polls suggest Sunak is more popular at the moment.) He also says people have a short memory in politics. Bullshit. People still haven't forgiven Boris for party gate, they still haven't forgiven Cameron for Brexit, they still haven't forgiven Blair for Iraq and they still haven't forgiven Thatcher for everything she did. There is a reason the Tories were in power for 14 years, the people who hated Blair hated him so much that for over a decade, they wouldn't vote Labour because of what he did.
Where does Starmer get the idea that we have a secure base in the Chagos Islands he has just given China these Islands they will be able to neutralise the base and although he may have negotiated a 99 year lease but that does not mean that once China gets involve the lease will be reneged on.

Technically, the monarch could dissolve Parliament, as there is no law explicitly preventing them from doing so. Obviously this would create a constitutional issue but in my opinion if the head of state must be a king or queen, then any attempts to hand over the Falklands or Gibraltar without the permission of the population in these locations, I think the king would have a viable reason to actually dissolve Parliament. This is why I argue we need an independent head of state who's non political and works for the people, not Parliament. Look at the £22b being given away for carbon capture. That's like trying to soak up the ocean with one toilet roll. All these carbon capture companies are just set ups to scam tax payers subsidies from idiot governments.
