Thank you for taking your time making this, but man this has to be most overly cumbersome, bordering on stupid, way of transfering files! So complicated, how can they not make this easier?
Thanks for this video, just wish to ask for the Pure FTP method to an android phone, does that mean that it will consume our mobile data? Is there a method for the Camera to connect to the phone FTP server via LAN or is that only possible with a router?
you dont have to set directory unless your server requires one or if you want to segment for camera A/camera B, it can be left blank because an FTP server is usually already pointed to a directory.
I have an A7r III that I just bought from Best Buy. Does this work for it? I tried this method and I was unsuccessful. I like to edit raw and I spent all day trying to figure out how to transfer them different ways whether it was using my phone or my laptop.
@@CharlieVN Thank you for your response. Yeah, my next option is going to the store to pick up an SD card reader for my phone, then import raw files that way. Maybe they’ll update the firmware for the A7r III in the future.
yes, however, you will need some sort of editor. Lightroom is the only one currently until apple updates native support (which is possible, my panasonic raws work on iphone)
This has to be the most convoluted and long winded way of sending a file 😭 why on earth has Sony not made transferring a file through their app a simple thing.
It's not explained well, but FTP is a file transfer protocal that's been around since the dawn of the Internet. You don't need an app to transfer files.
@@RajinderYadav yes I get that but on my old Panasonic I can simply select all the raw images I want in the app and transfer them to my phone very easily
I can tranfer raw from almost every camera i own except my sony a7400 lame lol. Even my newly purchased dji acton lets you transfer raw images even though they are way oversaturated with color sorry off subject
Professional photographers use FTP to transfer their photos in events like sports or any other that needs footage at the exact moment that’s happening.
A really good example of bad usability and over complicating things.... hopefully Sony learns how to make things usable.
Can’t find that setting in phone drive app.
OMG these are crazy ! Can’t we just import raw images using the sony app ? :/
it’s kind of ridiculous, I can import raw on my Panasonic…….
I’ll just keep my dongle with me if I want to transfer Raws on the go, this is ridiculous. Thank you for the help.
once it's setup it's easy and fast, don't need no slow dongle.
Very useful information and much needed. Thank you

🤣🤣 Sony and software is like presenting facts to my wife…. in one ear out the other

Can you do this with an a6300?
What is directory set to?

Thanks, using phone drive app but Cam keeps erroring.
Does this FTP Phone Drive work with Video files too?
That setting in the app no longer exists
Did u find another solution?
@@michellopes9750only way I found was to buy a plug in phone sd card reader (first didn’t work for RAW but second did).

Sorry to hear, I don’t know about the R3, when I had one, the feature was not available. USB cable would be an option.

Was there a way to make this even more complicated Sony?
Please dont give them any ideas
@@CharlieVN the Imaging Mobile app is already supposed to do that but it's buggy
A7iii raw sending are not working. Raw isn’t supported transfer
This add-on is not available globally, only on some countries.
the second half of the video shows you how to use without the transfer and tagging app (the way I use it). Hope that helps!
I don't Understand how can I transfer Raw photos if the only option is jpeg...
Check out the pinned comment, that might apply to you
Dose this work with the a7siii raw files?

doesn't work with a A6000
sorry, that camera does not have the FTP feature, AFAIF, only late model A7’s, A9’s and A1’s
Oh the moment you lay the ipad on the camera which the base is the lens hurts me lol
😂
When sending from camera to phone on LR is there a way to just send protected images?
Yes, you can use the steps at 1:56, settings per ftp

If anyone knows how I can edit RAW on phone with an alternative to Lightroom, please share in the comments!
@Foto4Max I think so, I have it previously downloaded, may try again
@Foto4Max just gave it a shot, and it errored out trying to open the file. Maybe sony will have an app to edit one day
Have you tried Snapseed
Yes, it did not work
Darkroom is great
FTP in 2021 ? Is Sony serious ?

To fast brother
Why I can’t find a video with cable to iPhone or smartphoneeeeee
Wtf is this Sony. Why is this so complicated
Sony hired the finest developers….
