#DidYouKnow The coconut does not get dispersed like other drupe fruits (through consumption by wildlife). Instead, the coconut palm disperses its seed using the ocean. Coconut is very buoyant and highly water-resistant and can travel very long distances across the ocean. ✅To learn more about Reproduction In Plants, enroll in our full course now: infinitylearn.com/cbse-fullcourse?TH-cam&DME&WAzoys To watch more Biology videos, click here: bit.ly/Biology_DMYT

Ok, so I saw a question in the comments asking if a seed falls from the plant onto ground and a new plant arises from it, is it a reproduction phenomena? So here's my answer: It is not actually a reproduction phenomena because there is no interaction between the male and female parts. The seed already has some of the baby plant growing inside of it because of which it simply just grows larger and takes it's full plant form after getting on the ground. What I mean is that as soon as the pollen grains from the anther get to the pistil of the plant (the stigma, to be exact), they travel down the style to get to the ovary. The reproduction part happens inside the ovary where the ovule becomes the seed, ovary becomes the fruit, ovary wall becomes the fruit wall and the ovule wall becomes the seed coat. The seed contains the embryo (the baby plant) and when it falls onto the ground, it simply continues to grow, slowly breaking out of the seed coat, taking it's adult plant form. To summarize, once it falls onto the ground the embryo simply continues to grow, no reproduction occurs here. Edit: The process in the ground is germination, not reproduction. Oh, and also, I love your videos, could I please be pinned? ❤️ Borahae💜
Wow, thank you! I didn't expect to know this much about Seed Dispersal! I never knew that coconuts were dispersed by its own seed! I was shocked and happy! Also, I never knew that birds dispersed fruit seeds too! Thank you so much 'Don't Memorise'! I really don't have to memorise and you helped me complete my work!

Hi! Absolutely LOVED the video! But I still have a question, a coconut is quite heavy so how can it be carried by sea or ocean? But anyway the video is super cool. Still LOVE the animation. I also don't like to study for my tests and I absolutely HATE Rote Learning but you help me top my tests. Cheers to team Don't Memorise!
floating is dependent on density not weight thats why ships float in the sea but pebbles dont coconuts have a very low average density hope this helps epic
its less dense than water because it's hollow inside... and the coconuts the video is referring to are those brown hairy ones that are quite lighter than the green, fully ripe ones...
@@pratibhapal7460 seed dispersal is necessary because plants cannot grow in the same place if it did the plants will die because there won't be enough nutrients in the soil for them. The different agents of seed dispersal are animals, humans, wind and water

epic
air floats... ._ .
the coconut fruit has a waterproof skin and a fibrous husk containing numerous air spaces which lighten the fruit.
its less dense than water because it's hollow inside... and the coconuts the video is referring to are those brown hairy ones that are quite lighter than the green, fully ripe ones...
it has holes, so they floated.
