At one time was personally acquainted with members of the Stamps Quartet...attended the Stamps School of Music, Dallas,Texas. for 4 summers during High School...members changed a lot...new members pretty much every year. But It was wonderful days. We all got together on Sundays and visited different churches throughout Dallas area. Piano teacher was Harvey Shelton !!! Voice with Bobby Burnett. (1956-1959)..now you know my age, am a great grandmother!!! So really thrilled to find these Stamps Quartet albums. THank you Steve Krampitz.

Listen to the harmony of this group and its piano accompaniment. It is amazing that this Christian music group influenced so many secular artists in Doo Wop, not to mention Elvis Presley who featured the Stamps Quartet as his warm up act in venues all over the world.

This is not same Stamps lineup that was with Elvis.

It's easy to confuse groups. The boys that (eventually) backed Elvis were (arguably) birthed from the Blackwood / Statesmen family.
JD Sumner formed the "new" Stamps, Jake Hess (Statesmen) formed The Imperials, which backed Elvis after the Jordanaires. After The Imperials (including Terry Blackwood) came JD Sumner & The Stamps. From time to time we also heard Sherrill "Shaun" Nielson as featured / solo backup. And Kathy Westmoreland... I should stop.
[Apologies. I started this as a half-joke, but I love the real history, too. Plus I think I'm close to needing q 4x8 white board]
