The thunderous roar of Molineux. From winning the division to dropping down to league two we have always kept our chins high and our atmosphere even higher.
Great commentary by Hugh Johns great times back then all English teams English managers no silly hairstyles or stupid coloured boots or theatrical diving.Glad I was there back in the day.
My brother and I were there - always used to go in the 'Kid's Pen' [in the top left corner of screen - or to the far right side of the goals]. Brilliant times!
I love my wolves, Sammy cheung, bill mcgarry, John Barnwell, Mike Bailey great player The doog magnificent Irishman, him and George best in the same national side, Derek Parkin very underrated by England managers, Wagstaffe master of his game, Kenny hibbett, cracking shot on him, John Richards how on earth he never got a hundred caps ill never know, Those seventies wolves teams were just so good.....
Fascinating to see the majority of men in the Molineux Street stand are wearing a collar and tie. How times change. Also amazing to see Derek Parkin - who I remember as the quietly spoken "elder statesman" of the team not only scoring but also losing his rag and being dragged away by the Doog of all people :). Also, if someone like Paul Gascoine had beaten two men the way Waggy did they'd have been talking about it for months!
With 2013 Wolves a goal down at non-league Luton in the Cup (if the score stays the same Solbakken's last?), what better than to turn the clock back and watch this footage of an excellent Wolves side. Thanks yet again, Mercian.
I don't understand how the challenge on Mick Channon at 2:26 mins was not a penalty. It was a clear foul, not an obstruction. Then again Hugh Johns just gave it a `whoops` and didn't make a deal of it. Very odd indeed.
I'm not certain of Southampton's line-up but the Wolves team was: 1. Phil Parkes 2. Bernard Shaw 3. Derek Parkin 4. Mike Bailey 5. Gerry Taylor 6. John McAlle 7. Danny Hegan 8. Steve Daley 9. Jim McCalliog 10. Derek Dougan 11. Dave Wagstaffe 12. Hugh Curran
I was a regular at the Wolves in those days, Waggy was my favourite player, he should have played for England many times, this was in the days when football was played by men, not the namby pamby roll over merchants we see today.
Thanks for posting the info regarding the Southampton team. There were some good players in the Saints team it appears; it's perhaps surprising that they were almost relegated that season.
notice the crowd kids at the front of the stands no horrible chanting at one another must have been great to go to football before all the nonsence fighting started
Stop the video at 1:04 and see the many Black and Asian people in the crowd enjoying the local team. Makes you realise things could have turned out better but took a wrong turn.It was a good few years before they felt safe enough to start coming again
Can’t believe there’s not more mention of the most incompetent or outright corrupt official football teams and fans have had to suffer., and Southampton ,never forget, this is a mans game,, sometimes you get dealt a bum deal, but you are a man. you can handle this,,,,,it’s only the FA Cup?
@@aneildavis LOL, 2:23 isnt a penalty but for some unknown reason 4:42 is. then the penalty missed he made them re take for no apparent reason. the ref was shocking.
Not realising it was an indirect free kick, was a cruel blow for Waggie. . . A great unsung hero!

Wolves fans back then must've felt very privileged to have watched players like Derek Dougan.
The "Doog".Derek Dougan, caused chaos in the opponents box..great player...!!
Loved the orange and yellow footballs- used in Winter!
Used all through the season at Molineux in those days. One of the last clubs to retain the brown ball.
Give it to Waggie, was the perfect route for Wolves in those days, and he never disappointed, should have played for England loads of times

InstaBlaster...
I am giving away my age. But remember playing with the brown ball. When it got wet it turned into a 50 Lb rock.
The King is dead- Long live The King- The Doog! wwfc.
He hated Mancini of QPr

Happy days at the Moluneux on the North Bank, a week before my 10th birthday.

Quite. A free kick inside the penalty area? I didn't realise the rules had changed that much . .
These kits need to be retro'ed by both clubs asap!
Please follow Chelsea's example 👌👍
Go wolves..!!!
oh I remember now...referee Styles lived in Dudley at the time...
Indirect free kicks given in the box. Not something you see any more.
Tiro libre tan espectacular y pensar que antes ese balón pesa un kilo
Waggy should have played for England
I didn't reaise that Steve Daly was in the team that early.

@@stevehegan3609 Your uncle bossed it, couple of great assists in there for him!
The wolves chant used to be...
Na Na Na na
Na Na Na na
Hey hey hey
Hughie curran
Can't believe how close to the pitch the crowd is

The man with the biggest hands in football! :-)
How about Pat Jennings ?

FWAW.. :)
Hugh Johns had a stuttering fit , 3 minutes in !

Hooliganism had already started by 1971 and the Wolves mob were as bad as any.
indirect free kick ....whaaaat???
Haha those were the days was there was 10 ,oh my wee have the years gone
hugh johns commentator.
These days, how many indirect free kicks for the attackers in the penalty area? None!!! I must have been obstruction.
Fuck me, give me 70s football any day as long as its not the overrated crap that we call football now !
I hope this ref never played again, shocking.
Why? He applied the rules ... this was a mans game in pre prima Donna premier league times. The rules have ch aged.
The ref was awful .
