Watching you make the handle reminded me that my Dad use to make all our Fire Poker’s. He worked in the engineering department at the same Colliery that I would end up working at. The handles were striped with thin layers of, Brass - Aluminium - Copper and thicker layers of Bakelite Great video mate. 👍🏻 Stay safe, stay healthy.
Beautiful work, friend. Reminds me of the fountain pens my Dad made when I was a kid. He knew better than to give me things with a wicked pointy end like that awl.
Hahahahaha a machine is only dangerous if you don’t use it properly. Thanks. Plus i can actually stop this with my hand, its belt drive and the belt is really loose.
They are rather cool mate. Some trivia for ya, as you know in the navy they have whats known as Jack Speak, well small marlinspikes like these are called prickers. Random yes very lol
I want your shop. and maybe a DeadPool mask so i can go into stores again. Great looking awls. Thank you for showing us how you make them, Onur. Stay safe and stay cool
Cheers mate, i do them with a thinner shank for people who prefer it that way but definitely work perfectly for leather. Im making more if you are interested contact me on Facebook or Instagram
With the amount of awls and spikes I've had to make over time, why in the world did I never think to use a drill to sand them down? uuuuuurgh. Also your stuff is amazing/lovely as always :P
Wow, that came out awesome!! I think a silver or aluminium liner one either side of the blue insert in the handle would look really sweet. This looks great though. :)
I just came across your channel and I did subscribe.... I know this is a old video but absolutely beautiful! Do you sell theese today. I literally just started looking for a marlin Spike but everything is just plain steel. Theese are gorgeous
@@DiesInEveryFilm You're welcome Sir :-) I never have made a knife or anything but the materials look to have a lot of potential for many different crafts projects.
think you will find it was deadpool forgot the taper, blame him anyway lol, they look cool, just started making my first ever knife, got a long way to go to get close to these though, cool as
@@DiesInEveryFilm on your FB page so when there is something worth showing I will put it there, being made from a worn out brake disc off a bike lol, but the steel will harden and is good enough to start with, besides I am skint so all being done on the cheap or free lol

Fucking diresta starting this whole throw down my tools and supplies after every scene is getting a little much lol. I say this with complete levity, no shade sir.
Not taking anything away from your work, which is exceptional; but why would you need an awl/icepick/marlin spike as an EDC? That shit would get you arrested where I come from 👍🇦🇺
They are used by many people mate, carpenter will use them in work daily so need to EDC it and a mariner uses it to untie knots so will EDC one, i sell all over the globe and different countries have different laws so you need to think it caters to many not few.

Great video mate. 👍🏻
Stay safe, stay healthy.
That’s cool man, i love stuff like that its a shame people don’t do this anymore and rely on just buying things. Thanks for watching
Now those are some fancy manly awls, love the handle material and the overall look, nicely done!
Cheers mate. Got a load made up and hopefully have them up for sale soon
@@DiesInEveryFilm Do you have a website where you sell them?
Things can be a useful tool, _and_ a gorgeous work of art.
William Morris and his chums would be proud of you.
Thanks mate. Definitely more handy than a knife i think
Beautiful work, friend. Reminds me of the fountain pens my Dad made when I was a kid. He knew better than to give me things with a wicked pointy end like that awl.
Hahahahaha fair point mate. Thanks for watching
Nice build. The handles turned out great. The colours are absolutely brilliant!!
Thanks mate. I have 10 for sale on my Facebook and Instagram pages
This thing is gorgeous man. Good job. I really like that handle. 👌😎
Thanks very much dude, im planning to make a load more pretty soon.
I used to work with an industrial food mixer so whenever I see someone use a lathe it sends an icy chill up my spine. On the plus side nice job.
Hahahahaha a machine is only dangerous if you don’t use it properly. Thanks.

Jealous of the contents of the toolbox in the first few seconds.
Wowzers.
Haha i have a problem i buy loads of handle materials
Videos like this makes me miss woodshop class. Those were fun times. I know he's not working with wood. Just reminded me of woodshop.
It is wood!
Yeh man it’s dyed stabilised wood.
@@berlinetta350 Is it? Sorry, I didn't know. Thought it was some other material. My bad.
Just so you guys know, I'm an idiot. But I'm sure you already figured that out on your own.
Don’t be daft man you ain’t at all. Lots of people actually mistake it for a synthetic i think cause of how bright it is
You can really pick on people with that but I LOVE THAT HANDLE omg it's almost to nice to use
Great bit of kit for undoing tight notts I like 👍🏼🖤
Definitely mate. Thanks for watching
Yesss! 🤘🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Thank you brother
Handle looks awesome, nice collection of blanks👍
Cheers mate. Aye I bought a load from a Russian guy he does beautiful dyed wood.
Badass! I don't need one, but I want one! 😍😍
Hahahahaha I know that feeling. Cheers
I’ve made many of those. I always put a pin in my handle. Mainly for looks.
Yup they are common mate.
Your handle material draw is immense! So many different combinations

Ahh cool i did not know this mate. Thanks
Great work! I love these picks. I’ve been keeping my eye out for a lathe. Keep it up brother👍🏼.
Thanks dude. They are really quite handy. A lathe is a brilliant tool
Like a ice pick, but more stabby. Very nice!
Its my “basic instinct” to make it more stabby
Pretty good work, I bet there's a few good leather workers out there who will love to get one.
I hope so mate. Will have 10 available Monday and more to make if they are popular
Some spiffy lookin toothpicks you got there! Great job brother.
Thanks mate and thank you for watching
Beautiful workmanship. I would add a threaded end for ring toot use in longer handle but i like it as is. Great resin wood collection
Thank you, was a custom order so made to requirements

Love the handle materials. I am a leather worker, and this awl would be great for my craft. Perhaps with a bit thinner taper point

Very cool process here, what steel rod did you use and did you end up hardening it as well?
Thanks mate, no I went with stainless steel so it’s tough and won’t rust plus easy for end user to sharpen again
Man I need one with a lime green and grey handle and a bit of a longer shank
Will have more made soon and going on my website

An awl as an EDC? That's something I never thought of. Stabbing isn't something most people do in their day.
What kind of steel are the spikes made of ?
Stainless steel
Gorgeous work man! Love them. What does the steel wool do after the sand paper when you were cleaning up the handles?
Cheers dude.
It’s similar to sanding mate just really fine so it buffs it up nicely before a final buff. I did a video on it on my Instagram.
Como faço para comprar um desses? Gostaria muito de comprar 1 unidade
