Me and my family climbed up Mount Everest (halfway) and I can guarantee it was not 50,000 USD. It costed about 8,200 USD per head.

It really doesn't cost that much as it's been said in the video. You see, you're required to pay that much money, if you want it all figured out for yourself. You will be provided with an expert climber, the route that you would be taken will be figured out for you, safety equipments will be available every step of the way and doctors will be available on call. Not only that, should things go wrong a chopper would be present just for you all the time. So you essentially make the climb to satisfy your ego. If you plant to do all of it by yourself, the cost becomes 97% less.
Going up is free. Having Sherpas, food, transport to the place… that is what costs so much money.
Also agencies takes some incredible fees, probably you can arrange something cheaper if you do everything though
It's because being really dangerous they have to collect money before in case you'll need a medic helicopter which cost a lot.
If you can't prove to have money and being willing to pay they'll end up spending lots of money to save people that won't or won't being able to pay back.
Happen frequently also in Monte Bianco, tourists try to go up but fail, call the helicopter than refuses to pay, so the small city (of like 3000 people) has to pay thousands of euro to rescue people ending up in red.
Technically its not the tallest mountain, but it is the highest mountain (tallest goes to Mauna Kea, an underwater mountain)

I lived in Nepal! I would recommend going around the near by mountains. It’s cheap but the combined height would be just as high as Mount Everest. Not to mention being cheaper.

Fun fact : the tallest mountain isn’t Mount Everest Mount Everest is only the tallest mountain above sea level. The tallest mountain is actually Maunakea Maunakea is the tallest mountain, but also under sea level . he did not climb the tallest mountain in the world.

@@epicodaboss Technically it isn't. Mauna Kea is actually taller from base to tip, it's just that most of Mauna Kea is underwater. There is also a mountain in the Andes that sticks out further than Mount Everest because of the bulge near the equator.
