Those are reasons their fireworks business and tea business are so successful. Even if she divorces the husband and doesn't send Little Miss High School back to Shanghai where her husband found her, that she's tattooed herself with the blue firework means she intends to keep the husband - she admitted she doesn't work, doesn't pay bills, doesn't even cook because some man can pay for all that for her, so her intent is to marry him and own what he owns. That puts the son in danger whether the son is with the mother, or with the father as a visitation. This young woman wants that man all to herself and the son's existence throws a monkey wrench into that for her. He's an obstruction to her getting, having, and keeping the cheater all to herself. I think the mother, having already seen what this mistress is capable of even before being confronted, would escalate her involvement in the son's life and that could only end in disaster: the mom had to ensure her son's safety which meant the mistress could be no where close by, even after the divorce was finalized. She couldn't take a chance on the son being with his dad for a visit with the mistress being with them.
