I love guitar performances in general and heard many thousands of them with thousands of guitar players. Gary Moore was without a shadow of doubt the number 1: il capo di tutti capi! I've seen him performing live about 8 times and each time I felt totally blown away and privileged. His Magnum Opus: "the Messiah will come again" Montreux festival. RIP Gary!

Gary was and always be a guitar hero of mine. I was fortunate enough to see him play twice live with Thin Lizzy.
    RIP Gary

His Colosseum II stuff is Jazz Rock, and he basically had to relearn the guitar, in his own words, after he joined the band. His playing with those guys, and there's live tracks on TH-cam, is just mind blowing. The Inquisition in particular is amazing.

This is a great version, but IMHO, the definitive live version of Gary Moore playing “Still Got the Blues”, is from “Gary Moore: Live at Montreux 1990”. It will absolutely blow you away. I remember when the DVD was first released, EVERY guitar shop had it playing on their big screen TV’s and when Gary would start playing that opening riff to “Still Got the Blues”, EVERY guitarist in the place, young, old, pro, beginner, Rock, Metal or Blues, would STOP whatever they were doing and watch, mesmerized, with their eyes glued to the TV screen, until the last note was played, at which time we were all shaking our heads in disbelief, over that last solo. I guaran-damn-tee ya’, that DVD sold a LOT of guitars!!!

Gary was simply the best guitarist ever to walk this earth! There are and were many great guitarists but Gary was just a cut above the rest!
I was lucky enough to be at this concert at The Hammersmith Odeon in London and I saw Gary more times than I can honestly remember over the years. I first saw Gary play in 1970 in Folkestone with Skid Row and he always gave 110%. He could play any style that he wanted to from Blues, Rock, Jazz Fusion and even Neo-classical.
I don't agree with one comment here.....this performance IS the definitive live version of Still Got The Blues. But I do agree with another comment....The Messiah Will Come Again Live....will blow you away!

Gary’s guitar work is so tight! He put out several great solo albums. Corridors of Power is a great album. Also, Greg Lake from ELP put out two solo albums with Gary Moore on guitar. The debut in 1981 and Manoeuvres in 1983. They had great songs like “Let Me Love You Once”, “It Hurts”, and “Haunted”.

Thrillled to see Gary at this time live. Was so enthralled I had to place my head in my hands elbows in stage. Transfixed and transported. Great voice you are correct. I’m so lucky. His fans go nuts! Well loved. And deservedly so. I returned again the following year but he seemed a bit different? But still performed really well. Underrated with Thin Lizzy too.

IF you have not heard of Jeff Healey, than you REALLY need to watch the live performance of See The Light. That might be a surprise if you are not familiar with him. He was "found" by SRV. 🔥🔥🔥
