    Thanks to everyone at SaltStrong for showcasing the phenomenal efforts of all the people at the Mote Marine Center, working with the FWC, to enhance these fish populations.

    I’m a huge fisherman as much as I am an environmentalist and it’s amazing to see anglers helping restock the fish into our waters and helping rebalance our oceans. God bless

    Back in 2009 I got to witness Mote release a bunch of baby soonk just like that! I remember they said it was exactly 2500 snook back then too! I wonder if they are releasing them in the same spot? :)

    What happens when one of these are eaten by a larger predator, like a porpoise?

    Why don't they use small bait nets when handling the baby snook? Should they be more sensitive since they and still learning and developing?

    • @Saltstrong
      @Saltstrong  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nets can be more destructive to their fins

  • @JoseGarcia-ik2cg

    Just saying they probably should have waited till red tide was gone to release them

    • @unthinkable1063
      @unthinkable1063 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was thinking the same thing, but I'm sure they are monitoring the situation and releasing in areas that red tide has subsided or isn't present. They likely need to release the current brood to start a new brood.

      This was filmed before the red tide issues started showing up this summer. The good news is that these fish were released in Charlotte Harbor which so far has not been impacted by the bad red tide issues that Tampa Bay has experienced.

  • @lowe516
