Hey pat! Generally slice and dices are avoided cause they don’t scale very well into late game, this includes bouncer blockades. As you know for a given map, maximizing the DU is the most important factor. Basically what that translates to in the late game is creating a defense that can damage the most amount of enemies possible for the most possible damage. Slice and dices, while having decent dps, have VERY limited range, and not as much health as one would expect. What this leads to is a frenzy of repairing and upgrading so that the slice and dice can kill enmities before dying, instead of using defenses that would have finished off the enemy before it got close. Harpoons scale much better due to their infinite piercing and decent range, as you’ve seen. For the time being, I think using slice and dices is just fine, especially if you enjoy their utility. However, keep in mind that eventually graduating from them will aid in progression :)
17:35 - this is an important point for survival. Chests actually have the best stat multipliers out of anything on a survival map. Mobs are categorized into 6 groups, and each group has a “quality multiplier” associated with it. (This isn’t what’s it’s called, idk what it is called, but you get the point). Basically, the higher the “quality multiplier ” the better potential the loot has to have high stats. The quality multiplier is dependent on the map, difficulty level, and wave that the player reaches. It generally caps at around wave 22. Chests have a significantly higher quality multiplier than any mob, which means it’s very worth it to open them during combat phases for optimal efficiency.
You should totally get a monk for auras! Also, I would recommend a summoner to be built so you could use those minion units. i believe just having those 2 heroes built u could be able to get to wave 20. Heck, you might even be able to win! EV can help a lot too as well as an apprentice! (I used these 4 heroes to beat this map on survival with stats around your squires)
Hey Pat! Since you’re getting into nightmare may i suggest building a Hermit, Aura Monk, Tower Apprentice, and a Casting rate/ wheel Jester! Late game dd consists of Aura stacks on each crystal, while stacking deadly strike towers and Lightning towers, along with the new Forest golem and mushroom spore tower!
Hey Pat, when you eventually complete all your goals for this series do you think you would check out redux at all and make a couple videos of experiencing the differences from normal? I think it would be cool to make a couple bonus episodes!! Otherwise once again great vid!!
Most differences don't become apparent until late game, so it wouldn't really be worth it, especially since he'd have to start from scratch. And I'm saying this as someone who is richer on Redux than on live. Live just has more QoL now, but Redux will still always have some unique endgame experiences.
@@slenderman4788the first time you download and go on redux, it copies your save on the base game. So if he gets all the way to late game on the base game, it would be perfect to do redux after.
i think the logic behind bouncer blockades is solely to save on du, for every 2 slicer u place u could place a full extra harpoon which is the best twr for that char Edit: You sorta talked yourself thorough this logic later in video :)
And regular spike blockades just have more health than the slice and dice. Also all of this would be a mute point if he ever started using other characters

Just let the man play the game as he likes ^^
It’s enjoyable to see you experience the game on you own!

You gotta embrace the truth that is Lightning towers with snare and strength drain auras! Tower booster Monk to make it even more the truth

Change the slice-and-dices on the sides to bouncers since barely any ogres go there. Then, you get an extra harpoon!

@@cookieoggie5309 not anymore as the saves are different after some of the newer patches so you cant transfer your data over to redux anymore sadly.
@@iofthedead1 Sad :(
Defenses have a buff in nightmare mode. That's why the dps is a bit higher than usual
A good map to try is Dread Dungeon survival nightmare hardcore. its a tiny bit easier and better armor drops at around 18-20
Yep because of no goblin copters
that too@@cookieoggie5309
Pat, you forgot to use other heroes again :3
The guide you're using even mentions using other heroes!
Soon 😈
I see, yea, you do start talking about it at the end there... use EV buff beams too :3 @@Retro_Pat

It gives you the extra mana only from the boxes that respawn. That box at the top of Magus doesn't respawn, so it will always have 40 mana in it.
aura's of the monk would greatly improve your chances of succes :) (iknow you like to try your own strats )
He also could keep all the squire towers and use the free minion units. Maybe one day
Yooo spiral knights ahaha. Got 4k hours in SK
Fantastic game
