If this is leading to an album it's going to be incredible. To me this track distills the darkness and pent-up kinetic energy of the last two years and slowly filters it through organic, pulsing bass and synths rhythms. The vocal samples carry a hopeful late 90's energy, while the looping melancholy finish echoes Promises. A soundtrack to our lives I feel.
I just love how Ninja Tune is one of those legendary labels that don't make solely music but bring artistic experiences in all of their aspects with the audiovisual materials. This is really innovative, tasty and super fresh at the same intensity as Bicep's Isles last year. Really looking forward to this upcoming album by Floating Points.
I've been listening to music published by Ninja Tune since I was a little kid (born in '88), and they've never once sent me astray. Early days as a kid listening to Cold Cut, DJ Food and Bonobo, to modern times, stuff like O'Flynn and Dorian Concept, and somehow, still Bonobo. It's a seminal label that refuses to put out poorly crafted tunes, and I think your comment is spot on.
As much as i love the original art, wouldve been cool if new order stuck with the design but used the evolved tech over the years to create it, ending in something like this
My local community radio station has a new music show that we've caught the replay of over the last couple of evenings on our drive to the dog exercise field. The enthusiastic dj manages to introduce this as Floating Points by Grammar... At least he's playing it, I guess. Shout out to Future Radio.
what a tune !! wondering if any tech heads know how they do this visualisation?? presumably the audio is fed into a kind of oscilloscope, but then how do you get the hands to effect the waves !?
after hearing this, most edm out today is painfully boring by comparison. the subtlety with which the sub bass carries the track forward, washing in and out is masterful. must say i love Problems too but i can’t believe it’s his #1 on spotify while this masterpiece doesn’t even crack the top 5. i don’t think you can truly appreciate this song without the speakers/headphones to push the bass through when it’s so deep and quiet at times. i can’t get enough of it
NFSWH (Not safe for working from home) - I can't focus on anything else when that track is playing, I just feel like bouncing on my chair and go to the club tonight!
Is the art made by combining lots of oscillator signals? Wonder how much work it took to find a way of converting images to amplitudes and frequencies of multiple waves
Welcome. Make sure to listen to the KEXP live set with the band. It's absolutely insane. Also, the mayfield depot live mix. It ends with the best version of bias available.
Really outstanding and well-crafted track. Too bad it was cut after 'Someone Close' on the vinyl version of the 2022 EP and it doesn't have the same length as this magnificent online version...
Have faith in yourself old man im literally 21 years old and came from Spotify to send the link to my 46 year old friend. There is few but still many youngins like myself who enjoy this level of music. We are out there you just may not see us
This track is timeless. It's still just so damn good.
Discovering it now, super banger. Love the vid too
imo this is easily the best release of the year so far.. all genres.. all artists.. haven't heard something so fresh in a while.. loving it!! 💚💚
Overmono is also dropping fresh stuff consistently
A veritable layer cake of pleasing frequencies
I’m very excited to see where this album goes

The Joy Division cover art has evolved. This is such a stellar track, finally futuristic sound has made a comeback!

I love this type of stuff but all my (younger) colleagues just listen to pop radio all day. What's wrong with youngsters today? ( I am 62)🙂
