I have several pieces of something that looks like ore , not sure what's keeping me from crushing them up . But this certainly gave me the motivation to try . After all , I did bring it home because it raised my curiosity . It's been an honor to learn from you and watch you grow as a prospector . The best part is how much you have grown to love every single aspect of your hobby .
I embrace the many changes that you have made , throughout this adventure called Vogus Prospecting . Looking forward to seeing the changes to adapt your vision .

Damn, that's awesome. It's sick to see your hardwork pay off man. You're always showing us new deposits and getting more and more gold. I know that shit takes a lot of work, great job.
While crushing in a Dolly pot I bang bang a bit then shake the Dolly pot on an angle so all the largest bits come to the top of the crush. Then you can bang bang crush some more, shake shake to the side, bang bang then shake then tip through the sieve. I just find it a little quicker and less energy than tipping into the sieve after each crush attack we unleash into our Dolly pot. Hope this makes sense and is helpful. When you shake shake the crushed ore in your Dolly pot have a look inside and you'll see how the bigger bits separate.

I've been basically hard Rock prospecting for 44 years and done exactly what you've done with the mortar and pestle. I also own rc1 and an RC 46. Hard Rock money is hard to come by sometimes but when you find it it's always satisfying and the pain in your back and arms doesn't hurt so bad when you see the color in your pan. Currently I'm prospecting and working area that's high in iron ore but there's large wire goals in BB size pieces of gold nugget mixed in with it. I'm still trying to find the source which I believe is within 3 milesI south of or I'm getting it from. Their signs that there could be closer mineralization of smaller veins but I still got to find them and uncover them. I've got all my gold mining in Western and mid Northern nevada. I love getting out in the countryside and doing that. I found more than gold and silver out there. Good luck to everyone and their venture to find gold. You sound like you really need to find an investor and buy up alot of that gold/silver rich land you've been finding lately.

The dark spots in the quartz is manganese and when it oxidized you get a white powdery look that is manganese oxide. The red is the iron.

@@skoitch Especially wonder about videos being done up by Meadville on private land. It's one thing to fake metal detecting gold nuggets and it's another to see gold coming out of the vein in hard rock.
@@waltertodd4479 a later video explained it. A lot of it was some other heavy metal and not gold.

Mr. Chris thanks for the good info, as a beginner that's all valuable info. Specks of gold per pan, kilo and ton really a giant step in understanding. Good work! I will be more respectful of a few specks in a pan.
Thank You, well done video. You also need to do a video on how the particle size of gold in the original sample determines how fine you crush the sample to. Also, when your crushing alot of gold in the sample it acts as a shock absorber and makes it even more difficult to crush.

Professional hard rock gold miners say that in 1 yard of quartz vein showing 1 ounce it is invisible to the eye.
Depends on the grade and how it's deposited.
And the particle size of the coarse gold.
Hey Chris i haven't had the chance to put all the knowledge ive learned on alluvial gold prospecting just yet, but i agree with your move into hard rock is a natural move for any prospector who continues to grow. I for one love the move . because as i put your knowledge on alluvial prospecting to work in my area, i can continue to learn

Wow, $25000 for a claim. That's a lot! Much much less in Nevada - only around $300. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on how much you think it would take in equipment at a minimum as an amateur.

Your mini crusher needs a bigger hammer on the end of it for testing purposes.
Another consideration is the time spent on building your equipment, like that dolly pot - or a sluice, or a trommel, crushers, etc. Kind of maddening since that's time away from actual digging.
Once you have reduced a smaller dolly would be Quicker

I have a heavy duty crow bar so I can stand up. Doing it like that would hurt your back I reckon. Also I wonder if having the pot and bar the same diameter would be better??

Hi Chris, what percentage usually would the heavy sulfide minerals be vs the whole mass processed? And how do I know when to stop panning, if I want to keep them for the smelting?

Secondary deposits = rust stained Gold, it's technically not Raw.
is there a reason you didn't use your homemade mini sluice for this fine gold . your mini works fantastic. just curious as you always have your reasons.
My ore crumbles with just rubbing it. That's how much Gold Raw Ore has, it's soft. As the iron oxidises it releases the fine Gold to deposit along water flows hence a seam... 🤣

What do you do with all the no gold dirt you must have loads lol
Why not use a forge and melt it down to find the gold?
A couple of reasons I guess; you want to crush the ore for smelting anyway, especially on a small scale. And more importantly, you will most likely spend more on fuel and consumables (flux, crucibles, etc.) Than the value of the gold you recover.
The process would usually look like: crush ore, concentrate crushed ore, smelt concentrates.

If you intend to mechanically be crushing more gold ore, please protect your lungs, your dealing with very small shards of glass! Not much different from asbestos, they both puncture and irritate live tissue.
