Wow, thank you for making this video. I wasn't even borned at this time, and watching this film makes me very nostalgic. You are preserving the old beauty of our nation which have been lost in so many ways. So, really appreciate it!!
My parents told me that they used to wear rubber shoes and ate in the moonlight, eating rice was just like eating those fancy noodles .they have come a long way and I feel proud to be their child.proud ladakhi.
Our beautiful ladakh have changed alots .. early ladakhi people are accepting there own region dress and wearing in city . Changpa's are having changpa dress , shamma are having there own dress , balti there own. Although there have no big difference but atleast we can recognise which region he or she belongs .... Yothkan nay gyancha phings tay skol na ma demo thong duk hala ladakhs pa gun ❤
These people experience their life to the fullest(They knew true happiness) unlike this generation where we spent most of our time on the mobile phone.
Incredible ... I see mostly Ladakhi buddhists but some Muslims and Tibetans there in the footage. Yes back then in 80's and 90's it's the destination of choice for westerners for off the beaten path. I was there previous summer and there is hardly any westerner tourists. What happened.
Bollywood movie 3 idiots (2009). Ladakh was promoted through this film to so the called urban middle class Indians whose numbers were rising due to economic liberalisation of the 90's.
Uff. Ladakh in 1981 here. Took the bus from Srinagar of course , an adventure in itself, with an overnight in Kargil. Kargil is Shiite town and as the iranian Revolution just had happened they had pictures of the Ayatollah everyhere. Not so in Leh. never went back , until last year! no more peoples dressed locally, no more peraks , the main drag sanitized into a pedestrian zone , with young Indians staring into their pathetic smartfones. a new and bigger mosque. good hotels and restaurants now , you cant have everything. And I saw the Dalai Lama in person driving by , if only for 2 seconds ! Where are the times.....
I was not even born but feel nostalgic for the then Ladakh. Now ladakh is a mess and it is going to ge messier if necessary steps are not taken to preserve the culture and values it has for generations
