Ya, Soft has been an issue since late 2000's when MacT decided that Gretzky's "We have to get fighting out of our game" was wise and accurate. Got rid of all enforcement and caused just about every star player to be out for months at a time with dislocated shoulders. Hemsky, Hall, Horcoff, RNH and even MCDavid with the clavicle. A massive misread of reality that is still effecting this to soft team to this very day.

@Ace96x10 yes, exactly. But to me it's not even the fighting per se. It's the willingness to play right up against that line - and sometimes crossing it. Fighting is a great example of that, but it doesn't even need to be that exactly. It's having the capacity to. That edge to push things physically and make things very uncomfortable for other teams. As you said, it's the "testosterone" quotient. Like, just be a man about things and exert some dominance

...Henrique was -3 in regulation. He ended up -4. Did Knobby not notice that might have been a problem going to Adam in the OT??? ...but to answer your question, both FLA and LA show that the bottom 6 (at least) are too slow or too soft or who knows what else when put up against a team that has a team willing to win the physical battles on the ice. And this was a regular season game, not a playoff game. ...that being said, it was hard to fathom the matchup strategy Knobby used out there. No idea what McDavid was doing in this game. He's back to not shooting when wide open again, the coaches need to step and do something about this, it's hurting the team.
Call the friggin' rules! 😂 Yeah, this is the Oilers in the NHL. Since when have the NHL referees ever given the Oilers a fair shake. More to the point, in virtually every NHL game played, both regular season and playoffs, every season throughout the last 70? 80? 90? years, the NHL referees, to a man, half bury their whistle in their pocket half way through the game and leave it in their dressing room in overtime. Pretty much the only major pro sports league that does this. 'Twas ever thus.
@@karenwojtkiw8902 You nailed it, the Oilers had the wind taken out of their sails, they are to smalll to be able to give a pound of flesh every game without falling apart. The Oiler did not build a sacrificial 4th line capable of taking or giving pounds of flesh they built a smaller smarter Veteran one that would not take penalties instead....its called an organizational weakness. Kind of like having a Goalie you say is an ALL-Star but who is really a Prince Ruperts Drop.... but hey the Oilers always just hire a Sports Psychologist or a Mumford clown to try to put lipstick on their Pig.
WEAK points of the game: Skinner, Bouchard (OT puck-loss loss, mental-freeze as usual, changed momentum to Kings!), and Knoblauch. He never 'manages' in-game situations and insists with weak players in OT/PP, like Bouchard, Henrique, etc. Then in POST-RAW takes no responsibility and speaks about players who didn't play well, but those are the players he insists placing in wrong positions/roles, or not instructing them well. Like Bouchard should hear lout and clear he cannot TAKE RISKS when he is last defender, he does meanwhile at least one capital mistake per game, repeating the same mistakes, which points to no trainer-corrections!
Bruce is always right on -hit on McD was interference,, very late, Hope he is ok. Are some questions about mgt; Henr/Arvid/Skinner is $10mil.... not clear they are an upgrade on Foegelle/ McLeod/Holloway/Broberg... but they are more expensive... Stetcher was not responsible for any goals against - is doing a great job esp for his low pay.... LA is a challenge
Oilers are too small & not ‘tough enough’… game today & last game against Panthers revealed that. It’s the one significant weakness of this team.

News flash ! The Kings have played this heavy, physical brand of hockey for years.... and who has beat them every year in the playoffs???????
Yeah but the point is that LA takes their pound of flesh. Lots of injuries after playing them.

Debbie Downer is back again with the MAJOR ISSUES the Oilers must have because they lost a game in OT.

Foegelle/ McLeod/Holloway are definitely much faster
