On another note, a death toll of 469,948 is extremely optimistic. It would be in the millions.
@Brandon Taylor 400 nukes would have destroyed every city of any size in the US. The death toll from vaporization of humans within 25 miles or so (I am assuming about 150-200 MT nukes being used as that seems to be what others estimate they would likely be, these are exponentially more powerful than the ones used on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945) from the epicenter of each nuke would have immediately vaporized least 100 million people. Another 100 million or so would have died from radiation sickness within 14 days including everyone else anywhere near Austin which would almost definitely be a target under this scenario (sheltering in place in an average US basement would be next to useless in these areas). Almost everyone else in the Continental US would die within a year due to nuclear winter, it MIGHT stay warm enough in Florida, the Deep South, parts of Arizona and parts of California where those that survive the blast and its fallout can survive. Hawaii and Guam would definitely be targets so no one survives there (Kim-Jong Un actually sent a nuke Guam's way a few years ago but he missed by about six miles and it did not detonate on the water -- IDK what the US is going to do to keep it from leaking in the future as to my knowledge it has NOT been retrieved). Also, many people don't have access to basements to start with. There are almost no dedicated fallout shelters in the US.

I think it is possible an enemy would hack the EAS during an attack. However, I did laugh when a voice said to call a number to report the issue. Nuclear missiles are inbound and I am directed to call a Help Desk?

This would be WWIII. Putin lobs 400 nukes at the US, Canada, the UK and whoever else and we lob 5000 at him. Before he knows what hit him we have wiped Russia off of the globe, he wipes out every city of any size in the US and Canada as well as wipes the UK off of the globe, the planet goes into a nuclear winter, Jesus Christ comes down to take us Christians home (this could actually happen pre-nuke fest) and the trials and tribulations period discussed in the Bible starts on this planet.
How would an EAS scenario video cause a real EAS alert like said in the description?
If someone were to play this video on a television or radio station, another station's endec could pick up the SAME headers and broadcast it as an alert.
I love to watch these while I kill time on my job overnight... at a news radio station.
I often chuckle at the fact that I could raise the slider & become the lead national story as I sit there alone in the dark.

TheFreightDude 1000 depends on what you use. I used MS Paint and Windows Movie Maker on an EAS mock which I plan to release soon.
Africa firing nuclear missiles?
I guess someone could've given the missiles to them. Old scenario, so don't expect much logic.
Make one where I end up exploding violently destroying almost 550 square miles around the Illinois area. Do an evacuation immediate with sirens (T121 please) for the first alert, 12 minutes later a shelter in place (explosion is 90 seconds after this.) Then an EAN after the explosion and finally an administrative message stating that the former states of Illinois, Arkansas, Missouri, Indiana, and Wisconsin are uninhabitable. Death toll is around 20 million.
That would likely wipe out parts of Michigan as well depending on the strength of the nuke and the wind direction (the latter affects where the fallout travels). He would be looking at a Tsar Bomb strength nuke to have any shot at accomplishing wiping out or completely irradiating five or six states with one nuke, though. A singular bomb of 150-250 MT is more likely which would wipe out the population either by vaporization or irradiation in about a 100-125 mile radius depending on wind strength and whether the bomb is a ground detonation or an airborne detonation. A more realistic scenario is Putin having every US city with a population of over 100,000 nuked off of the globe. I live about 75 miles from such a city so I could be affected. We don't have any fallout shelters within at least 60 miles of my home.

All the real EAS I've ever seen have captions, and a NOAA weather radio can be connected to vibrating and or flashing things in order to alert them when they go off. (Bright lights are helpful when awake, and the vibrating devices are usually attached to beds to shake them awake.)
(This is something I've learned by attending NWS events that have resources for the deaf and hard of hearing.

We don't know how the radiation from 5400 nuke blasts (Putin's 400 presented here plus the 5,000 that Biden would immediately send to destroy Russia) on Earth would affect radiation levels in space or on other planets. It is possible that no planet would be habitable ever again. A scenario like this is not likely -- I expect Putin to nuke several cities of size and importance in the US and Europe, we wipe out Moscow then he figures out that we can destroy his country, too. IMO the chances of that happening in the next 12 months from October 2022 are about 50/50.
