I use a spent 40cal case I sharpen it with my case trimmer and I open the primer hole to make it easier to push the overshot cards out. I use a old school rubber hammer on a piece of 2x4 it's crude but it works for 410 overshot cards for me.
So cool and fun to do it ,I have done this a lot in my country, with no money to buy news one we recharged all the time, the metal shells you can do many times over and over again,as long you resize it you are good to go ,👍
Thanks, Tyler and Josh, for another great video. Nice load and beautiful crimps! I am just getting into reloading .410 bore after doing 12ga forever. I found a published load for .410 using four pellets of #00 in a Stretch wad in a new 2.5" Fiocchi hull. The charge was 8gn of Longshot! I've made a bunch up using a BP Roll Crimper. Haven't fired any yet. I also tried loading one with four pellets of .35 cal (Lee) and it fit perfectly, without dimpling.
I've fired 8gn LS from my Judge. Worked fine. I was told I was stupid for using LS though(not by Tyler or Josh) but the hulls look fine. I'd like to see them over a chrono for comparison to LG. Also that single pellet .380 that ballistic products sells would be cool to see.
I've been reloading pistol and rifle cartridges for a very long time as well as 12 Guage a long time ago. I recently just started learning and playing with reloading 410. Your channel is full of useful information. Thank you. I'm using brass, but principles are the same. I'm also using h110 because I have it already for my magnum loads (357,41 mag 44 mag 460.) 410 with brass has a learning curve but well worth it
If your using the magtech hulls you’ll need to convert them to take a 209 and create a base wad to get the powder to reliably burn. Both are easy to do.
@theshotgunscientists yes I'm using a 44 magnum brass shell to punch out over the powder cards from high temp gasket material and using a 7/16 hole punch on the drill press to make 1/2 Inch wadding from reflerubber concrete expansion joints $4.88 for 1,3 inch x 4 inches x 4 foot long. All the above fit nicely at about. 430 diameter. I played with loads today. They were at 1100 fps. Will work up between 1200 and 1300 with 8 shot later this week when I have time. Then it's on to the buck shot, thanks to you . Like I said learning curve. But well worth it
I want to see a video where you review David Canterbury's TH-cam video on making homemade black powder, I think you could throw some good tips in. Your videos on black powder were great.
I know brother, it would be cool if you did a reaction video to his video. It would be interesting for you to give input into what he's doing right and wrong. I've seen all of your black powder videos. @@theshotgunscientists
I’d LOVE to see a video with you guys doing a loading/ shooting video with those DGS Thunderbolt slugs. That’s the slug that I’ve been in contact with Ballistic Products with and they are expected to publish more load data on that slug in the near future, based on their last correspondence with me. I’ve been trying to figure out a way to load those slugs to magnum velocities, using a powder that isn’t likely to have any difficulties at sub-zero weather (such as Blue Dot and Lil’ Gun are reported to have). I’ve done some of my own testing with LongShot and Herco powders, in a variety of different grain charges. I have a buddy that lives in remote Alaska and I’ve been trying to find a good Grizzly defense load for him that’ll work in cold temperatures. My buddy has access to some decent 12 gauge pump shotguns and has come across numerous bears in his travels and on his property. He’s tried Brenneke slugs, but they have a fairly high failure rate in sub-zero or freezing temperatures. I’d love to be able to set him up with some 3 inch DGS Thunderbolt slugs that’d work. Thanks in advance guys and keep up the good work.
That’s excellent news. Thanks. After I hear back from Ballistic Products with their findings, regarding feet per second/ PSI, etc, I’ll forward the information to you guys as well.
Have you tried Winchester 244 powder? I looked on line at Hodgdon web site and had some 12 gauge 1oz, 1 1/8 and 9 pellet 00 buckshot loads. I want to try some 20 gauge loads using about 18 to 19 grains of powder.
Have you patterned these on the channel yet? I remember loading some with H110 using 00 buckshot out of a 3 inch winchester shell. Didnt do very well but i didnt use any buffering.
Sir, a load that exists commercially but is impossible to find is the Nobelsport 40 cal buckshot for 410. It shoots a nice tight pattern. Do you think you can build a copy of that load? PS, the pellets must be of pure lead because of choke restrictions.
You actually want round balls or in this case buckshot to be slightly over bore diameter of the pellet is close to bore diameter. It’ll behave more like a slug. Only the very center I’ve the ball contacts the bore. In a .395 full choke, you’d want a .40 cal ball for next accuracy. We’ve done Range videos with .395 cal in .410. Need to do a loading video on them.
Yall ever mess around with mixed pellet sizes? What about mixed materials? Maybe half steel ball bearings and half lead pellets to increase pellet count while keeping weight down? Would say tungsten BB packed around hard alloy 000 buck be worth a damn in 12 gauge?
Question for Tyler regarding the Lee press: Can I run a 12ga sizer on my 16ga press without converting the entire press to 12ga? Thank you in advance! I love your channel!
No the 16 gauge sizing/depriming tube is smaller. With the 12 gauge press, you can do all gauges including 10, 16 gauge press will do 16 to .410, the 20 gauge tube is the same size as the 16.

Good idea. I’ve got tons of .40 s&w brass.

.35 cal is what the factories are using as 000 most of the time

I bought a 10.5mm punch to make overshot cards for my. 410 reloading. It measures. 413,it's a good fit..Great video
Thanks man

Most definately want to see you and Josh send more .410 down range. be it slugs, buck, game/ratting or clays/target
Oh definitely

More!
One of my favorite loads :) I have had better luck with roll crimping these than fold crimps.
Exactly what I was going to say. 😅😅😅
Great loading information
Thanks
I really enjoy your videos and learn something from most of them. I would like to see what these rounds do on paper.
We’ve done several .410 buckshot videos but we might do this load at various distances like we did with the 32 gauge #4 buck.
Ты хороший человек ,что делаешь видео про 410 калибр!!!
Thanks

We’ve already filmed a video with them and it’s done uploaded just not live yet. Very accurate and we got them to 1550 fps.

Hey, that's awesome! Can you please share a link with the .410 diys and where I can find them... Please!!!
I can’t. You’ll have to find them on ballistic products website. TH-cam things.
@@theshotgunscientists thanks for the reply, what do I search for on ballistic products site?
Excellent load.
Thanks man

Yes we’ve done a few .410 range videos with buckshot

If you’re using tungsten it best to just go full tungsten but we’ve done mixed buckshot sizes before.
How did the mixed shot turn out? I can't find any videos about it. Did you stack the pellets together or separate them with a nitro card?
