There are SO many good things about this song. I'm front r/ListenToThis and I saw your comment about how playlisters couldn't fit it into their "style". I kind of understand what they mean... It is very genre fluid like you say. In this particular song, it starts off on a mellow-low voiced tone which made the second half of the song very unexpected. The vocals + guitar at the beginning shift brutally when the slapppin bass comes on. Then the synths at 1/4 also are added, which is unexpected. Only around the halfway (chorus) do you fully understand the genre of the song (which I would say is pop ?), which may be the issue of the people you're pitching to. But omg, especially the buildup at 2:50 is fantastic. I love the song. Subbed
