    • @norarivkis2513
      @norarivkis2513 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@roozief9349 It doesn't teach anything after that many times, and Judge Boyd is willing to send people to prison if she thinks probation doesn't have a good chance. But if she's going to give someone probation at all, she tries to make it as effective a tool as possible for that individual, not just a cookie-cutter punishment that doesn't have anything to do with them as a person, or what they need to become a better one.

    • @blessedx3338
      @blessedx3338 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@roozief9349you absolutely cannot say that. I’ve worked in court and rehabilitation related careers for over 15 years at this point. It takes an addict typically 7 rehab attempts before it sticks, and usually more than that. Who are you to say that something won’t work after a certain amount of time, and damn EVERYONE with that ideology. Really just shows that you have no idea what you’re talking about and shouldn’t be talking at all. How tacky and trashy. There really shouldn’t be room for judgmental people like you in our world. It’s certainly not making a the f any better. Humility, compassion, empathy and understanding have become traits that only really great people have, they’re becoming minority in this country and you’re just proof of that. You and other nasty commenters. The special people who were blessed with the traits I mentioned, are the people who can do great things in this world, help our fellow humans who are hurting, and make changes that really matter!! Your comment says way more about you than it ever will about the people you just tried to tear down! Yuck. Do better. You’re probably incapable though. Positive traits are usually ingrained in us! • @norarivkis2513
      @norarivkis2513 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Yeah, that wasn't fair of her boss. First of all, her boss shouldn't have asked for a continuance from this court in order to go to a lesser court, and they know it. You just *don't* skip out on a jury trial, let alone a felony court jury trial.
      Second of all, if her boss was going to ask for the continuance, she should have had the guts to ask for it herself, before she left for this other court. She didn't do that, because she knew she wouldn't get it. She sent this junior associate instead, because she hoped that pity for the young attorney would convince Judge Boyd to be soft on her.
      Judge Boyd is many wonderful things -- she is shrewd, knowledgeable, compassionate, kind, and a damned impressive judge. But she is *never* "soft" on anyone just because she pities them. She'll work with you if you're honest with her, but she won't let anyone sneak around her. I'm surprised after working in her courtroom for many trials and watching how she treats convicted defendants on sentencing, the lawyer wouldn't have figured that out by now.

    WHAT is wrong with the defense attorney? He’s unkempt, wincing uncomfortably with his toe askew. Why does Judge Boyd not admonish him? She’s a great judge. The people appearing before her should show more respect for her and her court.

      If her boss is the attorney who didn't show up as she should have, it's the boss that needs to get yelled at, and Judge Boyd is the wrong judge to cross. She did get the continuance, but not in the way they might have wanted it.

    • @norarivkis2513
      @norarivkis2513 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Her boss should never have asked for the continuance. Lawyers juggle multiple courts all the time, but this is the *wrong* one to drop on the floor.

      @@norarivkis2513 Happened to me often in my six year law firm sentence. Schedules are so fluid that last minute changes happen. The other judge could have been equally or more annoyed than was our judge. Many are narcissistic and egotistical. The other attorney may have wanted to know if that young attorney pulled off a continuance.

      @@BostonCeltics19 I'm sure that they are, but the fact is, she's got a point about where the priorities are *supposed* to be. If instead the lawyer is prioritizing the judges whom they know will be most nasty if they don't, then obviously the only way Judge Boyd can get her court prioritized when it's supposed to be is to be the nastiest judge in the ring.

    One of my favorite judges to watch. I love that she’s not trying to just put people in jail/prison. She actually looks at everything and makes sound judgement/ruling. Not that it matters, but there’s only one time I didn’t totally agree with her, but then we all have our opinions.

      The one you did not agree with the judge did you actually listen to all testimony and pay attention to ALL facts?? Some people should NOT be a judge or on a jury, would that person be you???

    • @flowerchild9672

      @@lorimcbrayer8431 And clearly that person should not be you since you have no clue why I said the last part of my sentence. My last statement had nothing to do with her ruling. It amazes me how people come in and say something about what some people should not do (judge/jury) and they do that exact same thing, but then again this section is comments. So it is what it is, so go be a parent…judge…jury to someone else who cares.
