Hey, Arkansas girl here! 🙋🏻♀️ Bill Clinton came to a party at my next door neighbors’ house when I was in high school. This was back in the early 2000s. It was a *HUGE* party! Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson were also there. Earlier in the evening, my Dad took my brother and myself over to meet all three of them. We got pictures, and Bill was extremely pleasant and easygoing. We got to stay for a while before we headed home. Later that evening, as things were winding down, we got word from our house [next door] that Bill was getting ready to leave. My dad handed my brother a Hog Hat-iykyk-and, my 13 year old brother and our Dad ran next door, _hours_ had gone by at this point, they met up with Bill as he was walking down our neighbor’s driveway, _with_ the secret service. Bill said, “Hello again, Mr. Steve, hello, John Allen, what can I do for y’all?” Or something like that. He was so casual, yes, _definitely charming,_ treating them like old friends. I remember this because my Dad remarked on how amazing Bill was for not just remembering _his name,_ but, *also,* my _13 year old brother’s name._ My brother, not being a constituent, + having *two* first names, and Bill remembered better than folks who’ve known my brother for years. Bill _definitely_ made a good impression on my Republican -father- family that day. And, yes, my brother _did_ get Bill’s signature on the Hog Hat. It sits in our Hog Hat “trophies” case with other famous autographs…but Bill’s reigns supreme. That’s a fond memory, to this day, even to 3 folks that will always vote red. 🇺🇸✌🏻
