Bruce is a legit renaissance man: lead singer, pilot, author, entrepreneur, and Olympic level fencer. And he kicked throat cancers ass and is back to performing. Dude is an inspiration and someone to aspire to be like. Since you haven’t heard them before, Number of the Beast and Run to the Hills are probably their most overall popular songs, but Fear of the Dark is my personal favorite.

It was tongue cancer (throat cancer surgery might really have crimped Bruce's style), but same difference. He whacked it into the long grass. I'm pleased to say that Hallowed Be Thy Name is my favourite, with Rime of The Ancient Mariner and Powerslave silver and bronze medals respectively.

Got to see the great Clive Burr twice. I have a white drum kit because of him. (its the one in the little circle to the left) He brought a more straight rock punkish groove. I have watched Nikko more than a few times and is he a "better" drummer...eh, just different. The loss of Clive changed Iron Maiden. For good or bad is your own call. But just listen to Killers and Number of the Beast first before you decide.

Almost every metal band was influenced by Iron Maiden. Back then, radio play was critical to any band's success, but as a heavy metal band, they received very little radio play, yet were so successful, they were instrumental in the Grammy awards adding a "hard rock/heavy metal" category. Bands like Black Sabbath, Motorhead, and Iron Maiden laid the foundation for every metal band after them.

R.I.P. Clive Burr. Beast of a drummer and gone way too soon. The singer, Bruce, has always been super-theatrical (sometimes people poke fun at him) but he's said that he wants everyone, including the people in the back or up in the balconies, to get the full treatment. I'm not sure any band loves their fans more than Maiden.. and vice versa. Cheers.

Can't believe you've never heard Maiden!
At least you've fixed that now :)
They are the definition of Legends, started in the mid 70s in the UK when punk was the only music to play and stuck to their guns and helped shape the music genre we all love today.
Now they are all in their 60s and still touring, amazing to think Iron Maiden have had quite a few personnel changes but kept the same line up for 20 years now, that's longer than most bands have been around!
Maiden and Sabbath created Metal as we know it today.
Oh and Steve Harris (bass, lead songwriter and founder) thinks Tuomas from Nightwish is the greatest composer alive today and said that Nightwish are one of the few bands around that have the potential to become the next Maiden.
If Nightwish keep at it for as long as Maiden, maybe they will.

I think Fear of the Dark (live in Rio) is a good option to see why they are considered Music Legends, fans of all ages going crazy with them, all members of Maiden are now in the 60`s, and the energy is still the same, and like in 1984 when i saw them live first time, the fans can sing all the songs word by word, Maiden is just AMAZING GOOD.

The 80's were an awesome time to be a teenager. Going through musical discovery with epics like this coming at you on a regular basis was so good. So many of these bands still touring just shows the passion and longevity of this music.

I saw Iron Maiden live during the 1983 Piece of Mind tour and the 1985 Powerslave tour. There are no words to describe the energy they had on stage and the pure raw talent they put forth. As a bassist myself I was always enamored with Steve Harris's bass playing, he is so so excellent. The whole band and their music is timeless.

First saw Iron Maiden live in 1984 when I was 14 years old and rocking out squished against the barricade up front... saw them for the 5th time a year ago almost to the day. Crazy amazing live band even now - they've always gone and gave their fans 110% every show. My 3 favorite bands are Iron Maiden, Rush and Nightwish.... I think I can hang around on this chanel and watch you guys discover all the great music I that has formed my youth and become such a soundtrack to my life. Hard to think that there are people out there that are not familiar with these 3 amazing bands and the impressive musical talent all of them have. Keep up the Rush and Maiden reactions - Up the Irons metal brothers and sisters! \m/ \m/

Started listening to Maiden in 1981, and that was only because I couldn't get my hands on the first album at that point. I had already seen articles in Hit Parader, and other rock and metal, magazines about The New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM), and was trying to find out more on Def Leppard, Rainbow, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Saxon. Those were the big five at the time. The first two Maiden albums hold a special place in my heart. Here in the New England, it wasn't always easy to find upcoming shows, even at big venues, especially Heavy Metal shows. I didn't get to see these guys until their "Piece of Mind" tour. The last major show I saw before the shutdown was Iron Maiden in the summer of 2019. Bruce Dickinson can still hit all these notes 40 years later. They never disappoint! Getting to see a lot of bands throughout the 80s, I can attest that the passion in most shows was amazing. I miss that musical time period, because metal had to keep CONSTANTLY proving itself over and over. I had to deal with more than the guys as a hardcore female metalhead. People are far more accepting of my Iron Maiden t-shirts these days. True story, "Valley Girl" type preppies would use my presence in a store to steal shit, because they knew that the staff was watching me, not them. Pissed me off to no end, because that wasn't my style. Too many scary stories to relate, but things are definitely better for metalheads, especially women! 🤘💖🎤🎸

Speaking of Iron Maiden, they were on their Legacy Of The Beast tour until Pandemic curbed the tour. Legacy is their 45th Anniversary, celebrating 45 years. That drummer, Clive Burr left the band in 1983, and their current drummer is Nicko McBrain. Now, Iron Maiden has 3 guitarists sharing leads: Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, and Janick Gers plus Steve Harris, Bassist and founder of Iron Maiden. Bruce Dickinson has least 2 careers: you know as a singer, and he is a licensed airline pilot. During their long tours, they flies to different countries, IM has their own airline, either 747 or 757 Boeing. Plane is nicknamed, "Edd Force One" after their longtime mascot, "Eddie".
