*Correction: it takes place during the later 1800s, not 1900s! Thanks for watching!

I must say Ian, that was one appropriately creepy review of an equally creepy Dorian.
His acquired debauchery at this time would have conformed with the norm of then, but in real" life I think would have extended more to the polymorphous libidinous than simply that mono. Clearly he was psychopathically capable as he had murdered coldly and without remorse, as we witnessed while you were expounding.
I would have wanted clear distance existing between he and myself.
I did a bit of investigating re Bastet or Bast and did not find any reference to wickedness nor evil associated with this goddess.
Here is what Wikipedia allowed us in-part . . .
"Bastet was the goddess of protection, pleasure, and the bringer of good health. She had the head of a cat and a slender female body. Bastet was the daughter of Ra, sister of Sekhmet, the wife of Ptah, and the mother of Mihos. Since the Second Dynasty, Bastet was worshiped as a deity, most commonly in Lower Egypt."
Being the "wife of Ptah" was really B-I-G as Ptah had created all the Gods of Egypt "according to the design of his heart" ! Also, she was the daughter of Ra, the sun god. (This well before Akhenaten, the first monotheist of record and father of Tutankhamen, with wife Nefertiti having done the bearing honors.
I suppose that Bast's "pleasure" part of her repertoire could have been involved with the statuette Dorian had had dealings-with but, that would have been about all I suppose.
I will have to explore your archives for any mummy flicks you might have covered past-wise.
Also since you mentioned it in-passing, Pandora & The Flying Dutchman review/analysis i'll have to find and view before watching the feature again. 'Again' meaning since first I so-did some 74 long years ago at the Grand Lake Theater in Oakland California. MOST striking and memorable of course was James Mason.
    Tata !
