Oh, I remember when we hacked this together (me mrhill, erdgeist and walfisch) after school and some all-nighter weekends!
How did you capture this? some of the effects do some bad tricks with the display hardware to make the screen bounce. That's why it probably crashed in the end, some parts are missing -- it would probably work on an A3010 or A5000.

Haha, nice! I don't remember this demo BITD but I like the effects - better than many of the era. I captured this from an A410 w/ ARM3 @ 25MHz. I do have an A3020 so can try it on that. The capture process isn't great - SCART output to a HDMI converter box then into a HDMI PVR. Custom screen modes seemed to be all the rage on the Arc and some of the timings really throw the HDMI converter box. Are you at all interested in revisiting the Archie demoscene?! :)

@@kieranhj (re-replying, first reply was lost):
I (erdgeist) vividly remember this ~27 years ago. It was after we first saw the Xcentric demo which was RiscPC only. We analysed it to bits and adolescently condescending wanted to 1up everything we saw there while consuming less memory and making it run on an A3010, with more jumping lensing bubbles, completely going over the top with a bouncing screen … In order to make it work, we gutted poor old Digital Symphone player module and ripped of Eli-Jean Leyssen's codepressor.
We used to manually carry 15" multiscan monitors in front and our Archimedes in our backpack to Walfischs place in Kreuzberg, walking most of the way through West Berlin, since the trains would not yet be reconnected and then spending the weekend until the demo was finished. Haven't heard much of Dave S. since then, though ;)

@@gerdeist Ahh, fantastic story, thanks for sharing! Any thoughts of returning to the demoscene all this time later? We need more Archie programmers to show what the hardware can do - still plenty of untapped potential I reckon. :)

That ending is a bit odd.
