Tried to hook up 4 WiiUs yesterday because my son wanted to try out my old Breath of the Wild save files to kill the final boss and three of the four had no picture on my TV. My solution to this problem was much simpler than anything I could find about it. I use an older Sony HD TV that can only handle a maximum of 720p resolution in my game room and that is where I experienced the problems. When I connected my WiiUs to my new HD TV in the living room there was no problem. If the WiiU is set to 1080p resolution and you connect it to a TV that cannot handle this resolution (in my case 720p max), you will not get an image and you will not be able to sync your gamepad with your console, etc. This can also be one of the problems you experience with an older WiiU, although most people already have an HD TV that can handle at least 1080p.Just wanted to share my problem for people who may have this problem at some point.Maybe you are also using an older TV or PC screen, etc. and this problem can also arise.If you want to continue using your older screen, set the resolution to 720p on a newer 1080p TV and then connect your WiiU to your older screen. Problem solved.
Wow! I did not to expect it to be that easy makes me wonder do we as people constantly over think and complicate stuff when in other hand it’s a somewhat easy repair? I do repairs on games too but never new something like this that can be fixed. Thank you so much for making this helpful video. Keep up the great work and someday people like us can make a difference on what considered hard and easy to repair.
Back in may I went with the same problem my wiiu hdmi can no longer support HD resolution. I had to buy an digital to hdmi adapter but still my wiiu is technically brand new as I hardly used it since bought in 2016.
@@chickenmaster121 that’s the other thing I read - apparently they can be picky with the type of monitor used. Either that or a faulty hdmi port. Unfortunately for me my gamepad is not synced so I have 256 combinations of symbols to try until one works. After that I can do as you suggested in the video. Cheers
Im currently editing my next video which is a Wii u which had no display due to hardware fault so I have seen that issue as well. I tried to do the gamepad sync to it first to check the settings in case but got it wrong after going through the whole list twice so I ended up opening it up lol

@@chickenmaster121 actually one more question as I’m interested to hear what you think. If the gamepad shows the sync menu with the passcode, does that mean the console is also in sync mode? For example, would the gamepad show the sync menu if the console was not actually booting into its operating system, like when they have corrupted memory
My console doesnt want to link with my tablet, when the tablet shows the pattern my console doesnt want to pair, it says that here was an error and to turn off the console and try again, its like its not getting the signal 😢, does anyone know how to fix that issue?
Mine worked I don't know why it changed if it's been plugged to the same TV all this time, I had to change it to 1080i, I don't know why it won't work at 1080p, anyone have an answer?
What did you do, I set to 1080i and still does not work...same here...same tv for year didn't remove or change connections..one day while playing it just went off

i kinda have a worse problem. My wii u wont let me do different resolutions

So why do you think this happened in the first place? Were you using a component cable?
unsure, It was a while ago that it stopped working. I never used component cables, I think I swapped TV but both were HDMI 1080p from memory?

Nintendo consols lose quality after Gamecube release in my opinion.

@atclb2356 I didn't really do anything. All I did was change it to 1080i, and it worked. That's all I did.
