Komugi is the only character that unlocked Nen by just being extremely good at Gungi. She's an Enhancer (like Gon) but all her enhancement goes into Gungi. Also, remember what she said a few episode ago: "if i ever lost a game of Gungi, i would have taken my own life". That's a condition, the same that Kurapika has on his chains for the Spiders, a condition that Komugi created unconsciously and involuntarily to increase her ability of playing Gungi
komugi is character that really humanize the concept of nen cause unlike killua and gon with their "supernatural" levels of nen, komugi's is actually relatable. there is lot of people in history who sacrificed a lot to pursue singular goal with such passion and obsession as well as tunnel vision that they too are remembered in history as someone who could have been applying nen. Bethoven was someone so good at writing music and creating masterpiece on piano that while doing so he lost his own sense of hearing but that did not stop him from writing music (something that is crucial for music writing) and instead helped him create some of his best work. perfect example of nen and condition in real life. similar cases can be made for newton and tesla and many more
Notice how when he summons royal guards each of them Came from a place that corresponds to their personnalities: Pitou came from a high place because she loves freedom. Which is reinforced by her reply when she said the King should simply call himself the way he prefers Pouf came from a little entrance in the shadow because he hides his true intents and feelings Youpi came from a large entrance with many light because he is very honest and frank and he does not hide anything (he always says what is on his mind)
Their answers also correspond with their motivations towards the King. Pouf is loyal and obligated to the title of king and wants the same from Meruem. Youpi doesn’t fully understand what to do other than serve the King. Pitou desires for Meruem to find his own happiness outside of his designated role as king. It literally sets up their choices and character development for the rest of the arc.
This episode is very important. Its a key episode for meruems character development. He was going to kill her.. He was LAUGHING praising himself!!! Then he sae an eagle attack her and forgot what he came to that room for- he instantly protected her. It was an impulse move. Instinctive protection. Its a beautiful episode
Dont forget that the King and the royal guard left the nest immediately after his birth, before the queen could tell any of them his name, Meruem. Also at this point the King is maybe over a month old by now, which is crazy to me.
2:58 The thing about Pouf (Butterflyman) is that he doesnt care about his life. Youpi (Reddude) and Pitou (Catperson) are loyal to the King as a person, they follow his orders to the letter. If he wants to play gungi all day, then they will make sure he can do exactly that. Pouf is fully devoted to the King as more of a concept. A mighty ruler, taking his rightful place at the top of the world. And pouf is willing to give his life, to lie to the king and even go directly against his wishes (as we see when he is seconds from killing komugi. the reason he stopped himself wasnt that the king wouldnt want her dead, its that killing her would make her someone the king could never beat. A stain on his perfect record. Someone who, in her own way, was above the king.) He would do ANYTHING to ensure that the kings sits at the top, even if the king wouldnt want him to.
- The eagle is actually seen minding his own business until the King throw a "I am superior" wave of aura in front of his guards. His evil aura influenced the bird, or made it go crazy on Komugi. It's like the Kings evil personality created the circumstances for is learning humanity side to developp even more. -Komugi unlocked Nen to become stronger at gungi. Remember than Nen was first introduced by Wing, the examples he gave were not "Nen makes good warriors" but Nen created champions and expert in certains fields, like sports... basically, people who dedicaces their entire being on something, and unlock Nen, are the MVP's.
I doubt meruem influenced the bird. The bird probably flew away to the other sideof the palace and then saw a weak prey. It probably has nothing to do with meruem. I mean no secund in the whole show said that nen effects others like that
@@pininja4981 Meruem’s ren was filled with the intention of violence towards Komugi and the eagle was affected by it. Symbolically, killing the eagle represents a change in Meruem’s heart. The bird was passive until the Nen burst of Meruem made it go crazy.

That's true, all he's got is terrifying power in the basics of nen and the ability to absorb it by eating a nen user. If he trained earnestly... well our guys already will have a tough enough time with this.
@@Sweet_Venom0027yeah if he developed a nen ability and since his potential is pretty much bottomless even if he trained only the basics he would be a monster... SPOILERS The King playing Gungi with Komugi actually helpes him in the fight against Netero though. All that strategization and IQ tests from Gungi allows the King to decipher Netero's attacks.
Hi don, can’t speak for everyone but if you truly enjoyed the show I think it would be a great idea once you’ve finished HxH to watch a recap video of what has happened since the anime finished as the manga is still going on and arguably some of the best stuff is being produced. Entirely up to you but I would love to see your reaction to the current stuff as we get more info on the Phantom Troupe, more revelations and some familiar faces back in the show. Kind regards, Average Hisoka Sympathiser
Reactors always wondering how the eagle got inside, and I'm always just sitting, thinking "Does no one notice that most of the windows are open frames?" They even cut to a shot of an empty window frame during the eagle attack scene.
It's a thing in Hunter x Hunter that, even though you can't control Nen, it goes into your best 'specialty'? For example Komugi has it in her Gungi and Zepile and other artists in their pieces of art. The main characters can control it and use it to fight as their 'specialty' but everyone has his own unique ability to use it as best as possible.
It is that deep though! He never bothered with her name because humans are beneath him. He expected to play a couple of games and kill her. Knowing her name is HUGE, it means she is significant.
The thing about the royal guard is that it's their life to serve the king and do everything for the king. They would gladly be killed by the king if they believed what they did was for the good of the king. Although the one we see this the most is Pouf since he's focused so much on the idea of the king and his complete domination where Pitou is more concerned with the King feelings - you can see on how they answer his question about his name. That's why Pouf thought of killing Komugi, since it's been a while since he saw that she was dangerous since she was having impact on the king and changing him so killing her would stop that so the king could stay completely true to his ant like behavior - like we see when he thinks about his power and killing a life for no reason and him since birth. That's why Pouf cried at that time, he would have died happily by the king hands if he had killed Komugi but he also know if he did that the mark and stain of "loser" of never being able to be THE BEST at gungi would forever be scared on the king and that is why he stopped himself and is so conflicted about. He cares for the king to the point of throwing his life by killing Komugi but also cares to the point of knowing the negative impact that would cause and didn't want that, since the king is supposed to be the all mighty king above all else and better than everyone.
Their answer can also be used to infer how they depict the king if ugm. Pouf sees the king for what he was meant to be really rather then how he actually is. Pitou is more considerate in the fact she told him to pick whichever name he thinks is best which shows she wants the king ti do what makes him happy and doesn’t let her personal opinion influence decisions regarding him. While youpi is just there rly, kinda like a child and idrk how to describe him in this sense. Idk if this makes sense but u can add ur own thoughts or disagreements about this
pouf is loyal to a title, pitou is loyal to a person, yuppi is loyal to his role. pouf acts based on what he thinks king should be, pitou does whatever person wearing that title wants and yuppi does what he thinks or is told is expected from him based on his role. he is born to be royal guard and that is his goal. there is reason behind this behavior in yuppi specifically but not sure if that is still spoiler or not so SPOILER WARNING i guess while pitou and pouf have humans DNA it was said somewhere that yuppi is mainly made of animals so his behavior is more animalistic and instinctive rather than intelectual like that of humans
Youpi is simple-minded, but just as absolutely loyal as the others. I think that while Pouf represents the worshipful kind of love (wants the king to be all he can be, and live up to his [Pouf's] ideals), and Pitou represents the nurturing kind of love (wants the king to be happy), Youpi represents the obedient kind of love. He will do what the king says, no matter what the king says, without wondering why, and without any judgment, but also without much emotional feedback. When asked what his name is, Youpi doesn't have an answer, because his mind doesn't work on that level. Whatever the king thinks is fine is fine with him.
15:49 komugi caused him to have a question he brought to himself that he couldn't answer. He freaked out but kinda ego tripped over killing the kid and self idealized himself as a piece on the board, king, that he knows so well. Kind of a nen condition thing in my opinion but tf do I know
The characters and character development in this arc is the best in any anime tbh. Just the subtle changes in the king the past few episodes, hearing a human tell their story, asking a human for advice and guidance (even if its just in a game) and now this episode. Ngl teared up a little first time watching the eagle scene. Like you said she dosnt want to hinder anyone around her and shes helpless to the point of a bird considering her prey.
regarding your question at 1:10 king is not taking any rest either so it is kind of battle of attrition as well. if he was denying rest to his opponent while he rests then i would agree with you but this way it is fair game (as fair as it can be considering she is only human and he is king of chimaera ants)
14:00 actually quite opposite i think you missed how deep that statement actually is. Up to this point he saw humans as animals, you even said he is G'd for that. when he asked the women in castle whether they ever spared a pig or a chicken when they were begging for mercy. For king to go from seeing humans as animals to remembering one name is huge development and pretty deep and disturbing from their POV.
I doubt he feels an equitable level of fatigue to Komugi. He was able to take thousands of hits from Netero and keep jumping back across the room every single time. The amount of calories that exercise would equate to is probably enough to say he could go several days or even weeks without rest. It's not a battle of attrition if your physiology is completely mismatched. Winning in that way would be no different from using any other feature exclusive to him, like his tail whip. It's a hollow victory, no different from brute force.
okay smartass two things. first that is a spoiler for don so screw you for that. second, just because their anatomy or physiology is different does not mean it is not battle of attrition, it just mean it is not fair and equal one. and you are going way off the topic at hand which is why initial thought process is "no breaks". ofc king realizes he has advantage in this area over komugi which is one of many reasons he gives her the break even after saying there will be no more breaks... never the less delete your comment if you have any pride or leave it and show how little of a person you are. hxh fans, gotta talk spoilers even if it is last thing they do... pathetic@@andrewsigler7437

I'd have guessed that it was a specialist type of nen she has.
nen but a non-combat type. still the strongest and most intelligent being couldn't beat her in gungi.
The fact that the first person that showed Komugi this much kindness in her life was a Chimera ant.
