Awesome mate. Aussie living in Asia here. I live in sticks and bricks all long ago paid for and am unlikely to change, but i love watching the adventures of young folk like yourself here on you tube. Anyhow, I'd like to share the adventures of my neighbour who is in his late twenties and is a sales rep for a company that sells equipment to rice mills. he goes out on the road Mon-Tue and Thu-Fri, meaning that he is away Mon and Thu nights (Wed he is on the road in our local area). His company pays him a per km "petrol" allowance and a accommodation allowance for the two nights. About a year ago he bought a cheap Chinese EV and he sleeps in that with AC on all night no probs, he mostly boondocks at his customers facilities where he also recharges for free and also gets to shower there but occasionally has to boondock on the street and then showers at a gym. Inspiring story fella, I'm pretty much in the same boat as you but haven't made my escape yet. I work FT in the southeast and financially things are tough a massive chunk of my wages go on just rent and other bills and to say I'm fed up and worn out from the daily grind is an understatement. I spend on average 4hrs per day commuting to and from work sitting in endless traffic contemplating what my life and purpose actually is and for the past few years I've been thinking of a way to escape from buying a narrowboat, or just quiting my job and moving abroad and working on farms to pay my way to more recently going down the rabbit hole of living FT in a van for the past few months I've been researching Van/motorhomes watching van conversion videos and have decided this is the route I want to take, but now the issue is finding the funds to make this change happen without putting myself in a ridiculous amount of debt I have some savings but not enough to buy myself the van I'd like and get the conversion done to the specs I'd like or even buy the converted van already done. I'm in a weird spot where I know what I want to do and I have some savings but not quite enough so realistically taking finance on a van is probably going to be the only logical/realistic option to get out of my rented 1 bedroom flat either way I'd keep on working to keep myself ticking over financially the frustrating thing is the whole goal is to get away from debt and paying rent and all the other bills that wipe out a chunk of my wages and the main reason for wanting to make the change is having the freedom to maybe cut back on work abit, travel and see this beautiful world, spend more time in nature, and live on my terms more. Again appreciate this video fella I'm definitely not on Sparky money but it's inspiring seeing the jump you've made into van life. Regards, Mike, South East Essex.
