The ultimate kitchen sidekick for kids!
Our oldest daughter rotates toys each month. She set a certain limit for each of the boys that she is comfortable with cleaning up if everything was out at once, then put the rest in tubs and she just swaps toys out at the start of each month. When Christmas comes around they declutter and donate, then choose only a few new toys that seem to be most favorite to keep in the current stock. They get one new toy out a month from their gifts. Birthdays work the same way! She loves it and says they play so much better this way.

Target has white stackable wooden bins by pillowfort that you can use for toys. I have 4 (2 stacked high) and it works great.
