- I have a makeshift Packout Dolly but need to upgrade. Question is - is there an alternative to the Milwaukee Packout Dolly? Can you make something yourself cheaper and better.

We can’t get the red ones in the UK. The black ones are good though and less obvious through the van window 😊
@@madventure2318 I personally like the black pack out to the red ones, they look awesome! I'm sure a lot of people would rather have the black pack out boxes also!
I up-fitted my DeWalt DS Carrier to hold my Milwaukee boxes. Thru bolted 3/4” plywood cut to shape of wall plate. Screwed wall plate to plywood. It works Great! Even put casters on bottom so it can dolly and trolley. Love your collection, I’m just getting started.

I've done all of those options too. I even made a 4 wheel dolly for the 2 wheel base. While the official packout version is very nice, it's quite high. I do take home plenty of scrap plywood so that hasn't been a problem. I've stolen wheels off some cheap floor dollys. No economical brake idea yet.
Thanks TJ. I have found recently that the type of wheels used on the Milwaukee dolly do trap the dolly in tight spaces. In other words they swing out rather than pivot neatly on their fixings. Not a deal breaker. Overall I do like it though.
@@madventure2318 Yes. Its not great for rolling your stack back out. Takes some wiggling. Parking it is effortless.

Your stack looks very unstable because you’ve got all of those half sized ones, why not try putting a full sized one on the top or middle and top to stabilise them from fallout out sideways
It's a good shout. I do like the half sized ones though. Now I have the proper trolly, problem solved. Very stable I have to say.

The Milwaukee Dolly is pure garbage...i went through 2 wheels(these packoit ate rated for 100lbs)....wheels are very cheap plastic...best route, vuy a mounting plate, and affix via 2x4 or 2x8...
Assume means you make an”ass-u&me”.
The official one is pure junk...lasted only 3 months for me. The wheels, over time, will bore out the hole, and then the wheels fall off. The casters in plastic, is garbage.... Milwaukee should have done better
That’s interesting. Mine gets off lightly compared to other packout so I’m not the best judge. For the price it should last years and take some pounding 🙁 Wonder if anyone else has had the same experience.
I just had another blow out....I use mine everyday...and have about 200lbs..... Milwaukee, has stated it wasn't rated for 200,more like 100. The official wheels are on back order, due to multiple complaints. I would not recommend the official dolly, but use a mounting plate, and make one
@@Pumpkin12855 That's good feedback. Thanks for posting. Mine doesn't move much distance and light weight by comparison. Just use it for drawers and a makeshift worktop now. Wish Milwaukee would spend more time and R&D instead of extending the range of expensive wall mounted gimmicks. Packout is great gear but just feels like they need to refine some parts.
