This was so comforting to watch and hear. To walk into an art shop can be a sensory overload, and when I was younger I thought I always needed more than I did. I hope people of any age can watch this and realize that they don't have to spend a fortune on everything. Thank you always for sharing your talent, Love, and passion with us!
For those of you who want to copy and paste the list of brushes without links: 1. Liner 2. Dagger Striper 3. Round Blender 4. 5 Round (thick striper) 5. Angular (Different widths as needed) 6. Fan Brush #8 / Fan Blender (Very Large) 7. Bright (1" flat coverage) 8. Flat (1.5" varnish brush)
Dear lord thank you for not wasting time! I feel like I learned some things without being bombarded by paid promotions or sifting/ sitting through 13 minutes of content.
I always find choosing what brush to use one of the hardest decisions to make when starting to paint. Watching this video, has made it easier for me to make up my mind. Thanks Chuck!
I have purchased brushes you recommend and have improved my paintings. I really like the way you SHOW with paint HOW to use the brush. Very informative. Thanks again for your generosity in teaching.
4:55 - Can you tell us the make and model of the small fan brush? Blick is leading me to a dead page. I appreciate the links in the description! Very helpful.
I've bought tons of stuff that you have recommended. I've followed you for I do believe nearly a year on Instagram and on the email just as long. Anytime you post a new painting on Instagram I run to show my dad, he is down in his age and your paintings bring back so many memories of when he used to be able to go hunting or go out and take photos. I want to thank you for bringing those memories back to my dad and helping him smile.
I used to paint when I was younger and I have bought my share of brushes through the years. Thank you for the information in this video. You are an inspiring and very talented, young man and because of you I have began to sketch and paint again. it is a calming and rewarding endeavour.
It's nice that you share your trail and errors with everyone! Many people would keep it a secret!! As photographers and painters, everyone see's the same scene differently and interprets differently!
I have honestly never heard of a dagger brush, and now I think I need to go find one. I love how you showed up some great examples of blending with both acrylic and oil for each brush instead of just telling us what it does and showing one type of paint. I also want to say that I've followed your work for the past 6 years, and it's been amazing to watch your artwork change a little and kind of improve over the years.
I've only been painting (with acrylics) for three years, but your videos have been so helpful. I've learnt so much from watching. I have to say the dagger brush is by far my favorite. Thanks so much for sharing your journey.
Thanks to you chuck, I have taken up painting, something I haven't done, in over 40 years. I'm not brilliant but my family think I'm good....I have spent a lot on brushes, as I think the quality of the brushes helps...anyway I am having fun in this time of covid...so stat safe, and God bless, you and your family and your followers
I have just started painting again after about 25 years. You have tremendously helped me with my art through your videos. I am more motivated than ever before. Thank you for your superior art work.
Its been awhile since i have painted but you make it look great with your brush techniques. I will save this video as it is one of the most informative on each brush type. Love your work.
Wow, thanks for the information on the use of these brushes. I have several and its nice to know how to use them correctly. Thanks for giving the details of them.
excellent choice of brushes, I just started using the dagger for doing fur and love it so far. Thank you for all you do to help us make our paintings easier and less stress full,
I own several daggers and love them! I wish I could see the country side you two are travelling through! Wonderful. I am hunkering down in Germany and will wait until the virus is gone before I return. Happy painting.
Thank you for letting us into your world and educating on which brushes you use and why. I greatly admire and respect your work so using these techniques help me become better myself. I appreciate all you do!
Thank you, Chuck. I have Learned so much from your videos. More importantly, perhaps, you consistently inspire me to persist in perfecting my work. PS, my favorite brush, which I’d not known of until watching one of your tutorials, is the dagger brush. Again, thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Entertaining and educational - what could be better! I have quite a few of those exact brushes... I feel like I could be dancing with royalty. Thanks for yet another awesome video.
Wow, I have not heard of the dagger brush but I love the way it works! You are so fortunate to be able to do what you love and get out in nature like you do, and a companion to go with you!! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Thanks for this, it's nice to know what kinds of brushes work really well for a lot of things, having good brushes can really help during the creative process!
I wish I had found your tutorials when I started painting in July. You would not believe how many brushes I have bought that were not useful to me. I have kept them all and will play around with them as I progress with my journey. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family and friends.
Well I'm glad you find it all helpful! Congrats Christine you are one of my winners ! Can you send me an email with your print choice and mailing address? Thank you so much and same to you!
thank you for the brush lessons i am pretty lost on what brush to use and what the brushes are capable of. For me it is all trial and error i have a ton of different brushes but i find myself using probably only 4 or 5 of them. Chuck i love your work and seeing the places that you get to see in your travels
This was really helpful, thanks! I’m getting back into painting and I want to paint mom something for her to hang in her living room and I want it to be special.
Once again very informative...you never let us down. I use a lot of the brushes you recommended from your last brush video. I am terrible with a liner brush so I can’t wait to find a dagger stripper...hopeful it will help. Thank you so much for your videos...I wish I had a fraction of your talent.
Thank you so much for yet another informative video! 💚 I look forward to seeing everything you create, from your paintings to your videos and everything in between.
Not ashamed to say that I've bought a lot brushes because of your recommendations. Never been disappointed! ONE REQUEST!!! Please make more sunset dominate full length tutorials, even if it's on your membership channel. Your skies are BANANAS!!! No other artist on youtube compares. If I could learn to do them half as good i'd be ecstatic!!! I love your long videos and always learn something. So dang Chuck please make some long tutorials of those beautiful sunset and skies!!!! 🙏
Hi Chuck, thank you for passing on your expertise & helping people to express their thoughts & feelings in their art, 7 I wish you & Erica a wonderful & healthy time this coming Xmas. Keep well all,
I've been looking for some new brushes.... appears I have found yours at a good time.... I'm always on the lookout for great liner brushes (seems I never have enough of those). I really like the looks of the length of the bristles and signing my name has always been an issue for me..... I believe yours just might solve that problem for me....... I've saved this video as it is one I will come back and watch again and again to see what I might be doing wrong with my brushes. Thank you so much for this very helpful tool.
Chuck, as with your paintings your tutorials are always full of significant detail. Very much appreciated. Love your work and all that you do to assist us in our artistic endeavors! :)
Great brush recommendations and demonstration of what each brush can do. Think I have most of these brushes but now have a better idea of how to make better use of them.
I do know you, Chuck, always put me at ease and like in this video, you leave men feeling as if I were a master of art, a brush aficionado! I relax at the sound of your voice and having watched hundreds of your videos. In this case the liner and rounds offer themselves for more intense scrutiny...but I am so excited constantly by the Princeton Dagger brush! I have painted two of my last complex landscapes using only this one brush! This dagger is so liberating! It brought me from novice to expert forest painter in two paintings. I give gifts of three dagger brushes and a landscape set of Golden Open to EVERYBODY to be sure everyone knows about this magic brush! I had major spinal surgery-20 screws a zillion metal bars and major metal work done beautifully by a 34 yo neurosurgeon, also a reluctant acrylic artist like me, no place to work with oils, I GAVE HIM 3 DAGGER BRUSHES, 20 tubes of GOLDEN OPEN! It changed his life as an artist. I’m so grateful to Dr. Birinyi that I was thrilled to positively impact his painting abilities. I credit you with me having this golden information! Thank you Chuck Black! -Glenn
Thank you! I was just looking at my brushes and wondering if I could do without some of my 300...🤣 I do love my round blenders and dagger, which I didn't even know about until you mentioned them! I love your work!
Great info Chuck! I use all of them...except the fan brushes. Never been a fan of a fan brush😉 To me, they make trees look like a crop of oversized ferns pole dancing😂 The Dagger is a phenomenal brush! You can actually do calligraphy with them. All the demonstrations were super-good! Thanks for sharing this!
This was so comforting to watch and hear. To walk into an art shop can be a sensory overload, and when I was younger I thought I always needed more than I did. I discovered the dagger brush very recently… boy, I can’t miss it anymore. I’m addicted… love it for fine corner work. Magical!
I was impressed with the explanations but seeing your art at the end really sold the fact you know what you’re talking about!
4:55 - Can you tell us the make and model of the small fan brush? Blick is leading me to a dead page. I appreciate the links in the description! Very helpful.
