    I’m in the middle of making a baby blanket and as I’m pulling through the middle of the skein the big tangled mess comes out. Grrrr! I thought there has to be a better way and I found this tutorial. I cannot thank you enough! I have a large mug that the yarn will fit into perfectly. No more rolling balls. No more tangled mess! You are a genius!

    I LOVE this! I just caught the "sewing/knitting bug" and I feel like a 5 yr old in a college class sometimes. Thank you for helping me with my yarn tangle problem. This is a very clever solution yet easy enough for this newbie to replicate. 😊

    My best friend taught me this technique long ago when we were in high school. She learned it from her grandmother. I see you have a little extra finesse on yours adding the opening on the bottom. I’ll have to try that next time. Thank you!

    Learned to knit and crochet when my age was a single digit and have always been annoyed with finding the center end of the skein so today I went searching and found this 7 year old treasure. Priceless. Thank you!

    You are one of the neatest ladies ever! And that yarn sure does take on the shape of an egg, and it's decorative! I had pulled a tail out of some yarn that was a Red Heart Saver, in jumbo. I had pulled out the tail, and it all came out as a 'bird's nest' as you rightly described it-it was time-consuming, it took too long to untangle, and I was mad! The tail did not come out smoothly; it had tangles that wouldn't let the tail come out! I didn't think that this particular brand would do that! But looking at your video, that was really great.I'm hoping that all my skeins don't do what this once did. Thank you for your great video!

    Wow! I am just looking for valuable hints and tips to rewind balls of yarn as I often find of late how tangled or knots inside. This makes me upset especially as it often falls right in the middle of a project. So intended to invest in a ball wonder as the ball has an interesting look. However, intrigued by your marvellous technique and love the shape the winding developed into an egg shape. Another great point is being able to keep the wrapper details inside the ball. I really appreciate your sharing. Thank you very much. God bless.

    A small tip....... Instead of tucking in the end of the yarn, I use a child’s hair clip to hold the yarn to the skein.
    I get 10 for a dollar at a Dollar Tree Store. They do the trick.

      Mine don't, however, it probably won't work as well if you pull it out
      real fast or if the yarn is textured. Textured yarns tend to grab other
      yarn, so I doubt it will pull out as well for those.

    • @2howlingmonkeys71
      @2howlingmonkeys71  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've never done that, but I don't think that it would work with any
      center-pull ball of yarn. When pulled, the outside thread would go
      around the ball, therefore wrapping itself around the inside thread and
      tangling.

    I tried to do this method, and not only was the bottom not flat, I couldn't really turn the yarn after it was on my thumb, and lost circulation in my thumb. What am I doing wrong? I didn't even have a circle at the bottom :(

    • @2howlingmonkeys71
      @2howlingmonkeys71  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aww. I'm sorry for your struggles. Ok. First, it sounds like your
      tension was too tight. Your thumb shouldn't lose circulation, LOL, and
      it should be able to move within the circle of yarn. Second, if you use
      your pointer finger (of the hand that the yarn is being wound on) to
      guide the yarn as it's being wound along the top part (that is actually
      the bottom side of the jellybean, but you're holding it upside down in
      your hand as you wind it. If you guide the yarn as you wind it, then it
      will create a flat bottom. I hope this helps you. It actually works
      really nice. I use it all the time. Good luck!

      Okay, I unwound everything up to where the hole disappeared, and followed along step by step, starting over from the beginning of the skein. I THOUGHT I had done everything right, since I was pausing the video to do exactly what you had done...now I'm working on getting out the tangle that appeared when I pulled on the center pull, which also caused the jellybean to collapse. What did I do wrong? I did everything you did exactly
