I like both. But I have to say the Case 75 pattern is my favorite stockman pattern, and the 47. Then the sowbelly. Can't wait for a knife room tour when it's done. Stay well Pete.👍

Not only do you talk about knives you’ve bought with your own money, but when Uncle Henry gave you a box of knives, you set about giving them away to share the love! Excellent!

Thanks so much Eric I really appreciate that…. And that brings me to the point of what you sent me and I’ll never forget that and the slip……. I wish it wasn’t so hard to send things out of the states….. there are a couple people that I really need to get for some people to show my appreciation for the Channel and your one of the people that I can’t thank enough and your not forgotten….. I cherish the gift you sent me and I often carry it…. It’s one of my favorites to carry!!!! Thanks again Eric I’m keeping you in mind my friend be well 😊

Oh I prefer the Sowbelly for sure. I love that they took a sodbuster blade and put it in a large stockman pattern with a deep beefy handle.

My favorite Case stockman is the 75 pattern large stockman. I'm a big guy with big hands and the 75 pattern just works better for me. I also think it's the best looking stockman they make.

The Sowbelly known as the “Cutting Horse” has blades that take advantage of the Sowbelly shape and have big bellies. Check it out.
    Thanks Jersey

That's a tall order,my first love is soddys next is the full trapper, but those stockman really intrigue me, the sowbelly is a perfect packing knife, but the 75 is a real formidable blade! I really would like to pack all of them. Can't make up my small mind, love all of'em, but if it came to it, dang, give me the sowbelly!!!

I love the stockman pattern, period full stop. I’d be hard pressed to pick a favorite version, I like them all and carry them all. Now, if it’s a large stockman or a sowbelly, odds are it’s either my main carry or it’s the only knife I’m carrying. The mediums I like as a secondary carry with a larger locking knife. And as far as being careful out there, my Glock 9mm wholeheartedly agrees with you and never leaves my hip. 😂 Cheers, my friend!

Yeah David that’s what I’m sayin buddy hell ya!!!!! Yeah we’re right on the same page absolutely thanks so much David for the comment…… and on the Glock comment man I wish I could carry a piece….. here in NJ even transporting it has to be disarmed and in separate areas the clip and the gun can’t be together it’s crazy!!!! I always wanted to carry but Jersey is gettin tougher on laws I don’t get it

I’ve never been a big stockman fan, but I’ve a few, and they’re each pretty special. Mine are all standard shaped, no sowbellys I’m afraid. I do have a Case large in cv/yellow delrin, which is great! My best ones are TEWs, one in MOP, the other in Desert Ironwood! Beautiful!

When it comes to Case, I prefer a standard. The big ass sheepfoot on the Case sowbelly wrecks the grip. However, I have a single blade stag Viper sowbelly I got from Latham that's my every Thursday knife.

As you said, one is the working knife and the other one the fancy one, both excellent, they have to be carried out at the same time, one in each side pants pocket!

The Stockman and Canoe are my favorite knife pattern. As Stockman's go, I own an old imperial Stockman, and 2 Rough Ryder Glow sowbelly stockman's. Now I'm wanting to buy a standard size Sow belly stockman. Tiger stripe or Black and Blue bone saw cut handle. I'll probably get both.
I agree, Any Stockman is great but I think I prefer the sowbelly because of the angle it gives to the Blade and how it feels in the hand. Great Video, Thank you.

It took me a minute to come to the same conclusion you have about the stockman pattern. My first pocket knife was as stockman given to me by my grandfather over 50 years ago, with a one broken blade and the other two had seen better days. Years later I bought a Schrade 8OT at a swap meet in slightly better condition. Had good memories with both but never ranked high on my favorites list. Fast forward a bunch of decades, watched a video or three of yours which put a sowbelly on my radar, saw World's smallest Truckstop's Bonestag Sowbelly video and could resist no longer. I had forgotten how nice it was to have three blades in a folder. The clip gets most of the duty and the sheepfoot is a close second and makes me wonder how I ever managed to get through a day without one. The spey is used mainly as a reserve and sometimes when I have to cut something sketchy to avoid damage to the main blade.
Next thing you know I spot a Case large Stockman in bonestag and I know I need to add it to the collection. To my surprise I like it even better than the sowbelly, though the sowbelly's aethetics are more appealing to me. The large stockman fills the hand better and strikes that just-right size spot where its big enough to do most knife jobs and still small enough to be a pocket dropper.
Most recently I watched Knife Delights Grandpa's knife and your stockman in bonestag video again and sure enough decided to give the medium stockman a try...
I should also credit (blame?) you and a few others for adding sodbusters to the collection...
    Thanks for your great content.

Hi, Pete! My favorite Case stockman is the 032 pattern, followed by the 18, and then the sowbelly. I just like them a tad smaller than the sowbelly.

Hey Pete, i lean towards the Sowbelly, because the blades have a bigger belly and the handle fits nice in hand. But in general any stockman is fine, three blades to get dull, so what else could you want. Thank you buddy.

I grew up with the traditional Stockman cause that is what I grew up with. Knife room is getting there, I just worked on mine and repurposed a VCR shelf that was under a tv stand and made a nice shelf for my ESEE’s on the top shelf, Kabar on the middle shelf and Ontario and RR on the third shelf. Worked out great and had room to put some stickers on the side.

I'm not a big stockman fan myself, much more of a trapper guy. That being said, I do have a few stockmans, and I prefer the large standard version if I'm throwing one in the pocket for the day. I don't hate them by any means, just not my preference.

Yeah this sowbelly stuff...not for me. The Stockman I usually carry is an old Western #657. They made about a dozen different Stockmans in the day in various lengths (from 2.88" to 3.88") and blade configurations. The 657 is 3.5" and replaces the sheepsfoot with a punch. Much more useful to me than a third blade. I also carry the 3.88" version on special occasions. I recently retired an Old Timer 8OTW Senior Stockman (3.88" Ironwood). That one is a beauty too, luv the Ironwood. Thanks for a look Pete. Looking forward to seeing your GECs.
