DJI MINI SE - First Flight // At the edge of The Pacific Ocean

- Hey folks, I took my DJI Mini SE out for a first flight in one of the windiest spots on the coast - luckily it was a pretty still day but even so this was not a particularly adventurous flight. But hey it gives you a look at some of DJI Mini SE footage straight out of camera showing the beautiful Wellington coast right on the edge of Te Moani Nui A Kiwa, The Southern Pacific Ocean.
All footage filmed on the SE was shot in 1080p to access the 50fps.

Hey! My name is Corey and I am coming at you out of Wellington, New Zealand. I am a photo enthusiast and I do some pro work like real estate and weddings. I used to paint and sketch but I thought it would be easier to simply snap pictures than to paint them. How wrong was I? @@TheOtherPhotoGuy Ha ha yeah I know exactly how you feel - I'm like that with new gear too - would be nothing worse than an accident early on. Hey what were you recording your other angle with, and were you using the Rose Wireless Go? Loved the commentary 👍
@@GetBusyLiving go pro hero 9 for the other angle, it’s pretty good and way easier than the DSLR, can’t be bothered mucking around with that… and yep I had the rode wireless go 2 set on always recording, have to check receiver to see if it is actually recording tho, I also used the rode lavalier go, which I noticed did get muffled a few times. The clean audio on the go pro was excellent also however.

Such an epic video for a number of reasons! I used to go out to makara all the time when I lived in wellington back in the day, such a great raw rugged beautiful place. And I have just brought the mini se. Will be getting it early next week. This video has got me amped

Awesome video !! The Mini SE seems to be such a great drone for the price. I'm currently planning a NZ South Island Trip at the end of the year (from Melbourne) and was hoping to grab this drone (which'll be my first) to play around with it while I'm there. Having watched your video, I'm now more convinced that I should get it :) Looking forward to more vids of the Mini SE !!

Hi, your footage is very crisp and sharp. What was your export settings as I see it can go up to 4K in the youtube player settings? The drone is not a 4K drone as I have the same one. And lastly, did you do any color grading on the footage or use any ND filters?
I think I film in 1080 and cut up in a 1080 timeline and then export in 4K…. I don’t use any ND filters or modifiers just the camera as it is! Thanks for your comments and have a good one!

couple of things . firstly you'r SE is a BEAST , great footage too . and far out the editing , just brilliant dude .
also p.mode is precise hovering . apparently integrates GPS and all of the sensors and renders them always on according to google .
i can say --- that is one more mode than the mini2 has .
there are also a few other differences between the mini 1 and the SE .
other than the orange tip props .
the mini2 quieter orange tip props , the upgrade brushless motors ,
the mini2 solid arms (mini 1 arms have polystyrene inserts)
the mini2 USB-C motherboard,
and the lighter mini2 li-po smart battery's . vs the mini1 li-ion packs
se for best value drone out there id say .

Hey there, with this drone it is for 4km but actually I don’t think it would go anywhere near as far, for more range going for the Mini 2! Thanks!
Great footage, one of my favourite spots! Have you tried this Drone in any kind of Wellington wind? They seem great value, almost too good to be true.

@@TheOtherPhotoGuy it was just the fact when I bought the Samsung a22 to run the dji fly app....Bluetooth was on on the new, I did not check ! The plane was going crazy and I nearly lost it !
Fuming , was going to return it .
Last resort contacted dji support, tech told me definitely no Bluetooth ! ( it offers interference to transmission) and I have not wifi on either ....and the plane is AWESOME, SO MATE PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH BLUETOOTH !

Mini SE combines bits of the Mini 1 and 2, so they’re probably running down the parts bins until Mini 3 comes out. Great cheap drone either way.

Hi mate, this is not scientific but it has flown okay when I thought it could be too windy, I flew it out of the coast and it was extremely windy and it still was okay but shaky - in high wind I always save sports mode for getting back - and lowering altitude quickly sometimes drops under the highest wind. I think if the wind is strong start out very slow and close to test it out.
I thought the Mini SE used the same RC as the Mini 2 & Air 2, but in your video it looks like the old Mini 1 RC ???
Hey there, nice spotting, the Mini SE has the same RC as the Mavic Mini, it did not get upgraded to the Mini 2 or AIR 2 RC. At least not yet… Maybe if they bring in OcuSync that could happen.
They all look the same though mini 1 ,2 ,and se
I’m looking for a cheaper drone that I can take mostly pictures / videos of sunrises and sunsets. Can you place a filter on the SE’s lens? Will this drone be suffice for my needs?
Hey Brian! Absolutely this suffice for your needs and yes you can also use a variety of filters on the camera modules, they are compatible with Mini 2 filters. The SE only shoots JPG so work your exposure before the shot.

Hi mate so it's basically the same as the mavic mini?. And are the propellers the same as mavic mini or like mini 2 propellers ?. I've got both drones and I fitted mini 2 propellers to my mavic mini with a couple of adjustments 👍👍 it's more responsive and better in the wind

Well most know that this MiniSE is not available in the USA. Heard different reasons why. I think it's because DJI is coming out with a new mini3. Technology moving so fast. My Autel Evo1 is already at its end come Dec 2021

Well, 4k equates to 8.3mp. Human eyes can see 576mp on average. So...there's that lol

Hmmm I do it very slowly in C mode shot at 50fps so you can make it smoother in post converting to 25fps, hope that helps!

Hey Maik, mostly I can get to about 1.1km line of sight and it starts to drop out. Sometimes depending on conditions it can be much nearer but never much further.

I wish DJI would sell The Mini SE in the USA Because the accessories for The Mavic Mini and The Mini 2 are all or mostly all compatible with the Mini SE I would get The SE for that reason alone. I have plenty batteries and lights, ND filters, Landing gear etc, for both Mini/Mini 2 so I wouldn't need a fly more combo when purchasing the SE
