Me playing Pet Shop Boys "Domino Dancing"

- First PSB track that I cover. Everything (searching sounds, assigning to the Emax, recording the backtrack, etc) was done in half an afternoon. As I started to record late at night, I didn't rehearsal more than twice, so there are some mistakes on the lead part (JX-8P).
No sample sound from the original song. All Emax samples are from my libraries (even the orchestal Hit, I realized I have got exactly the same they used for the track).
Gear:
Roland JX-8P
Emu Emax
Kurzweil PC1x.
The synthesizer is such a magical instrument.
Chris Lowe would be proud.
Lowe it fam
Chris only does bass notes
I am bowled over by this !! Once again I am back in 1988. Thanks again Maestro !!
More PSB!
It's actually fun to finally see someone play it.
Indeed.
Domino Dancing was recorded in a Studer 16 track analogue recorder and mixed in a Studer A820 Master 2 track recorder at the International Sound studios Miami, produced with Lewis A Martinee , Chris lowe told me this technical details, as so hard was synth recording session Neil ,Chris, Fro Sossa and Mike Drusk 4 guys playing the keyboards..
Holy Chris Lowe, Batman! If I could applaud through the internet, I would :)
A threat of distant thunder, the sky was red.
And when you walked you always turned every head.....
All day all day, watch them all fall down. ✌
This is a fantastic cover! It sounds just as good as the original. :D
I am lost for words...great skill. The best thing of all, is that you play ALL of my favourite tunes!
So talented dear Miguel greetin 💞💞💞💞💞
@LemonAndYoghurt Samples are coming from my libraries (it means I didn't sample the original recording for getting those sounds). The "hit" sample was one of the Emu most recogniceable sounds, together with those choirs before the spanish guitar. They used extensively an Emu Emulator II afaik.
The JX8P has 2 DCOs which sound close to Jupiters VCO (not the same, but fat too). Not sure if they used roland oscillators for that track.
Thanks.
"ALL DAY, ALL DAY... WATCH THEM ALL FALL DOWN... ALL DAY, ALL DAY... DOMINO DANCING!!...". 😊.
Gran canción de PET SHOP BOYS.
You are so talented!!!! Love It!!!! Takes me back!!!
Jose, you've got some mad skillz. This may be my favorite of your covers, but I really like so many of them that it's almost unfair to single one out. You show your love for DM and other electronic music in the best possible way. Thanks for sharing with the world! Cheers!
iv been the biggest psb fan for over 25 years and to me this is a brilliant piece of music. i absolutely love it!!
excelente !!! PSB lo mejorrr de los 80´s
Request: Pet Shop Boys "this must be the place I've waited years to leave"
From the 1990 Album BEHAVIOR.
Perhaps the deepest, darkest and enchanting song the PSB ever wrote! In my opinion it is a masterpiece!
Ps. Love all your music, your covers and they are amazing and dead on target. I was jamming out to your DM covers earlier and I was waiting for Dave or Martin to begin the lyrics, it sounded that fantastic! You are truly remarkable!
Damn...you're a complete monster.
You really should feel proud of yourself. All the praise you get for this is well deserved.
I'm a musician and I really analyse music when i listen to it. I normally don't enjoy covers, but this is undeniably excellent.
One of the best of your covers. Outstanding!
in october of 1988 in old st juan puerto rico
the video of this song was produced...
Acá llamamos Caja al Snare.
Y bombo al Bass Drum.
El Snare es de una Emu SP12 y el bass no recuerdo seguro, podría ser del propio Redrum , ya que es un bass drum bastante standard.
I love that you cover all the bands I like! Cheers!
Superb !! ❤️
wow that was awesome. love PSB!
That short drum intro reminds of the theme from Friday the 13th part III, scary as hell :)
Espetacular! Explêndido! 👏👏👏👏👏❤️💞💕💗😍
Obrigado Simone.
Another great Pet Shop Boys Cover! Very well done, man! I agree with one of the other comments... Would like to see you do more Pet Shop Boys covers. :-)
Hola!.
Programé toda la percusión con Redrum, un módulo de Reason.
Las congas y bongos son samples incluídos en el propio programa.
La caja es un sample de una caja de ritmos Emu SP-12.
Parabens... cover!
Very very nice. I saw the Pet Shop Boys in concert at teh Bronco Bowl in Dallas Tx 1999 and they were great. They are one of my favorite groups! Truly a real pair of musicians.
Great job on the preformance.
Cheers,
Matt
Very well!
It's ""so hard"" to play That music alone !
130 orchestra stabs ? awesome. i learn this and 'heart ' and 'i'm not scared'.finally found 'introspective'...'s.h.o.p.p.i.n.g.' is an old fave.
You the man!!!!
Fantastic! Bravo!
Awesome stuff! You did a great cover of a bunch of my favorite 80's tracks.
Amazing. The closeness of this one to the original is a great accomplishment.
Best instrumental cover on youtube, great job! :)
Up there for thinking, down there for dancing
Damn! YOU ARE AWESOME! You couldn't have picked a better song!
I really like this one. so I got to tell you, you did a great job over here. you got it..
another great band from the 80.s greetings from sweden!
Very great work !!!
i love this song , thank you so much for such a beautiful performance, especially the intro, are these your samples you recreated or are they presets on your keyboards and is there a computer you are using to mix/ sequence the different riffs including lead synth, techno beat, strings, and horns. and flamenco spanish guitar
Samples from my libraries (not from the original song), and a programmed sound in the upper keyboard
You are Great....I Thought Original Pet Song is a Sequenced+Programmed one? You are doing a great Task...With no Stress?Simply the Best.......Greetings from Sri Lanka

Man, that is awesome. Sound s great. Greaet job.
Cool 🎵🎼🎶🎹👏👏👏👏😎👊
um abraço do Brasil....
Great job as usual. But I suspect the PSB songs are harder to do justice simply because their multilayered tracks/loops are so complex.
Freakin awesome!!! You are quite amazing!!! I am truly in awe!
It's practicing that sechega perfecfeição, a hug from Brazil !!
Bloody great. I'm a huge PSB fan and you hit the nail on the head I tell you! :)

very well done although I miss the delay for the lead synth. Loved to see more PSB-Covers from you.
Another amazing vieo! Thx a lot
greetings from Argentina
WoW!! amazing dude!!!
Beautiful orchestral hit!
That was just great!
I want you to iknow that this is a beautiful arrangement of the song. It sounds just like it!
Ever since I was 15 (back in 1985) I wanted an EMAX so badly, and was especially moved by songs that had sampled orchestral hits like you do on the EMAX II here. When I tried out the EMAX II in a store, I was really amazed by the "Bass Case" bank on the EMAX II, because it sounded like a powerful house dance lead line. I finally got one in 1993. I used my EMAX II for a lot of freestyle dance tunes.
a fresh take on a great song, thank you.
brilliant!
LOVE IT!!!
Very impressive.
Fantastic, Magnificant, I love itttttttttttt
Wow!!!!!!
esse e o original incrivel!!!!
Que sonzeira tinha o Emax. Sonho de consumo na época.
