I think you said it's the same paper, so I guess they've resolved a quality control issue? I remembered that you had used that brand of paper previously and liked it. Different grain? I have heard that “fine grain” works well. Maybe had you not used the water brush for the previous tutorial? I don’t remember which tutorial it was 😕
Hi Wendy, no I’m a bit confused too. I was told that the paper in the Etchr Sketch book was made by baohong. I didn’t know for sure. That was good paper I like that a lot, I also like the Viviva sketchbook paper too. But the Baohong I used for the bookmarks was not like either of those. So if it is baohong it is a different quality. I’m pretty sure it’s nothing to do with the brush! But it’s fine I’ll use it for tests and preparatory sketches. I’ve just received an order from Viviva of a whole big pile of sketchbooks so I shouldn’t be running out of paper in the near future!
Happy birthday, Diane! I traced the leaves with the glass pen and ink, waited for it to dry before starting water color, and the ink ran with the water. I must not be using the correct ink? Thank you for sharing your amazing talent! ❤️
Hi there, Diane! I'm curious of 2 things...you mentioned the paper was very absorbent, does that make it less likely to develop back runs/blooms? And since you now have QOR paints, have you found it to be true that they do not fade/lighten after they're dry like other watercolor paints do? OH! And a very happy birthday!!!
Hi Paula, what I found with that paper was that it soaked up the pigment rather unevenly. So the paint became quite patchy. Wet on wet didn’t work at all.I don’t really understand. Maybe it’s a faulty batch. As far as the QOR paints go, I did swatch out a comparison between Winsor and Newton and QOR of the six I have. And they look a little bit brighter. There are definitely some interesting interactions between some of the colours, with the pigment spreading very fast into water. It needs a bit of exploration!
Hi Diane, You sound really disappointed with the new paper. Could it be that it has a high content because if this is the case then it will just soak up the paint and unless it has been wet quite a lot before you start, the paint will not move in the way you would expect. I still like the idea of leaves for autumnal bookmarks. Belated Happy Birthday. Freda
Yes, well, it was a gift, so it's a shame. It's not good paper, it pills and behaves badly. It's 100% cotton, but I suspect it might be recycled out of its life. I have cellulose paper which is much better behaved!
@@DianeAntoneStudio Done a little digging " TLDR: TH-cam is turning loud videos down to make everything play at the same volume, just turn your volume up to compensate". I have to adjust my volume to max to hear the video, but that means everything else is on full volume too, which is deafening. I don't want to turn off things like important notifications every time I watch a TH-cam video. This is an increasing problem with other TH-cam channels I've watched recently and is no longer a relaxing experience.

I thought when you add pen and or ink...then
Add the water color the ink will Bleed...?

Yes, you need waterproof ink. I’ve done the same thing myself, confusing waterproof with permanent.
