The Ghost Rider nod when Xavier is scanning Gambit's memories is a fun callback to an early issue of X-Men where Gambit's estranged wife, Bella Donna, showed up. They ended up having to go back to New Orleans to fight the Brood. Then Bella Donna ended up dying (so it seemed, anyway). She ended up "just" going into a coma. That then led into Gambit's first mini, wherein Rogue accidentally absorbed her memories, so Belle had none of her memories when she woke up. It was all very Tragic (tm) and the *perfect* fodder for my young little soap opera-loving heart.
To be fair with Cyclops and gun safety is he’s got way more power behind his eyes so he’s used to pointing a deadly weapon at everything he’s looking at.
Thanks for putting this series together. It's so much fun to re-watch these. I'm enjoying the rewatches on my side, and having your commentary to go with it makes it all the better

I remember I would come home from school when the series was on, I would get my VCR ready to record each episode, same for Spider man animated series, I still have those VCR tapes of every X-Men & Spider-Man episodes, unfortunately I don't have a VCR anymore, but I've been rewatching both series on Disney plus.
The quality of these last few episodes is great and lives up to my childhood memories way more than those first few. I can't wait to relive the rest of this series.

Did you ever read the issue of What If where Rogue and Nightcrawler were brought up in some kind of "Flowers in the Attic" nightmare scenario and Rogue ended up fully absorbing Kurt? It was BIZARRE and haunts me to this day on a subconscious level.
It would be great If you guys watch X men evolution, it's not like the classic series but not having conections with the Marvel universe makes a lot of characters have an unique develoment, like rogue (that without captain marvel has to use her powers in a much more versatile way)

I wanted to watch this whole series now that's on Disney+ and in order to be up to date for the continuation they are realeasing next year...but it's honestly too much and kind of dated to watch it alone so this rewatch/reaction from you guys is the perfect thing for me right now! I hope you consider rewatching the 90s Spiderman animated series in the future because in my opinion it was the closest thing to a marvel universe series until the MCU came along. Not to mention it has some amazing storylines and characters overall...and it's also cheesy af and really funny
So a couple things about this batch of Episodes and a couple sound mistakes I need to point out. 1.) Adam, there are random times where your intro music for Heroes Reforged kicks in. Also, at 11:09 the sound gets REALLY loud out of nowhere. I’m pretty sure you can’t fix it without re-uploading but I wanted to make sure you knew. I know how hard you work on these. 2.) I have LOVED watching y’all react to these, and your reaction to the crap animation sometimes haha. 3.) I have always loved this Archangel. Me and my friends had an X-men fan club in elementary school and we were all different characters. I was Archangel. He is awesome. 4.) I would LOVE to see The Avengers fight Apocalypse!
For all of those not in the know: The whole "Bishop thinks Gambit killed the X Men" is straight out of the Comics, specifically the Onslaught Arc. To make a long story short, in Bishop's time there is a recording to the X Men Last Moments, where a hysterical Jean is talking about how they where betrayed by one of them and they did not see it coming and it actually records her death. And Bishop went back in time to stop said betrayal and make his future better and his prime suspect was Gambit. Of course, in the end it turned out to be Onslaught who was the "traitor" (Being a creature of pure psychic energy and the combination of both Xavier's and Magneto's brain patterns) and Gambit is actually rather magnanimous in his forgiveness of Bishop. That whole arc is a convoluted clusterfuck to hell and back, considering The Avengers, The Fantastic Four, The Hulk Apocalypse and Dark Beast were also in the mix alongside other half a dozen characters who never got as much focuses as they ever did on that Arc (With Nate Summers from the Age Of Apocalypses Timeline being one of the most pivotal characters). The Combined the Days Of Future Past with the Onslaught Arc, basically.
Has any one caught that all the characters pretty fit perfectly into the MCU humor. One liners from practically everyone, and they fit with the context of their character and situation. Love the reaction. Can't wait for season 2!

I will say, I give this show a lot of leeway with the animation because 1. It's from the 90s and 2. Because I looked up an interview from one of he creators or animators ( can't remember who) and they had such a low budget. About half of what Batman the animated series had which definitely helps explain why one has such drastically better animation than the other (I had no idea X-Mens budget was so low at the time). Also, I will say that I was like Adam in thinking it was just Mystique turning into Rogues mom to trick her so I was a bit confused, but it's good to hear confirmation from Hector that that is something from the comics.
35:30 To Adam's point, I remember watching these in the 90s, and I can recall feeling upset because there was no way to follow the story in the correct sequence. I'd even look up the TV channel guides in the newspaper but they didn't care about kids shows, so you'd only see the show title, nothing about the episode or even a number. I remember this happening for almost everything ... and as I got older, the most famous example being Firefly. Frustrating!

Before your trio do season 2, you might like to watch "A Fire-Star is Born" from 1982's Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends. I think that was the first time we saw the X-Men on TV. I love that show, but I'm guessing you'll be laughing at the dated animation quality and worthless Australian Wolverine.
This show is great for nostalgia but it does NOT age well in a re-watch. The voicework and music are still top notch. However, I think X-Men Evolution was/is the more consistent and higher quality show imho. I love all of the shows, including Wolverine and the X-Men too. However the original 90s show was a letdown when you put it under a magnifying glass in both the writing and the animation.
That should have been Mystique’s role in the First Class movies. Her goal was to find mutants for Apocalypse. And the whole time she was a grown woman that made herself look like a weak little girl for Xavier.
