De Dolle, doesn't do it for me. Don't think it would get in my Belgian top 50. I've drank at the source too.. give me Alvinne wild west Blackthorn everyday, probably the most underrated sour put there. Too many of the beers featured in your list are distinctly average. I don't get the love for 5 points either.. very average for me. Docks best bitter is in a different league in my opinion. Focal banger was one of my biggest disappointments ever, sadly have never had heady. Best uk brewery for me making a modern 5 to 6% on keg is from Nothing bound. Two by Two cask is pretty special also.
Stone’s Arrogant Bastard Ale is most definitely on my list, y’all … Cheers from Richmond, VA, boys … and come visit for some Triple Crossings Falcon Smash with some hot-honey pizza from their fired-stone oven! #Richmondcalling 😊
I’m from Brazil and my wife gifted me, for my 40th birthday, a 15 day trip to Belgium to visit the breweries/monasteries around the country plus Toer de Geuze. I’ve visited 28 breweries in total (104 beers consumed) and my favorite beer was Arabier on tap from De Dolle. It was unbelievable. Also, I’ve spend more than 1 hour talking to the master brewer Kris Herteleer and his wife Else. Must go place for belgian beer lovers. Congrats to you two on the channel.
I don't wan't to be "that Guy", but I can still recall a bottle of Adventinus Eisbock, on a holiday in Finland 23 years ago. An exceptional beer in every respect.
Orval - a wonderfully unique beer. It must have been close to making the top 10... Visiting the brewery / monastery in 2016 was my lightbulb moment that sent me on my journey into the depths of craft beer and hombrewing.
My top 10 would be: 10. Any Track Gold Top DIPA. Creamy hoppy goodness! 9. Duchesse Du Gurgone (better when it’s aged for a few months). 8. Fuller’s Vintage Ale. The older the better. 7. Augustiner Helles Or Weisse Bier. Both are excellent Bavarian beers in their own right. 6. Treehouse King Julius. Absolute juice bomb, clean and the one of the smoothest NEIPAs ever. 5. Burley Oak JREAM sour beers. There are 100s, but if you ever see one out in the wild, grab it! They’re incredible! 4. Any Cantillon. The hype is real with those beers, fantastic beers made with the most absolute care. 3. Marlobobo meads. I had the pleasure of trying one last year and oh my goodness! Mead is already good but these guys do it so right. Expensive, but worth every single penny! 2. Schlenkerla. One of my favourite beers ever. If you like weird and wonderful beers, it’s one for you to try! 1. Omnipollo Yellow Belly. The OG or the C&D versions, tried this beer in 2018 for the first time, and nothing has come close for me ever since in terms of Imperial Stouts.
Which Schlenckerla? As this is just the brewery! I suppose you talk about the Märzen, which is the most popular, but they do a crazy Doppelbock and now they have an Adler barrel one which is beautiful. Funnily I live very close to Bamberg, and it's not my favourite rauchen. I prefer my smoky beer not to be as smoky as Schlenckerla, and for that Weiterer does this beautifully.
I don't dare to do a top 10 but my absolute favourite beer is Rodenbach Grand Cru. What a beer! It's almost cider-y like a Gose. The mix of the old and young beer is magical, and then you have all these undertones going on. I love it. In the last year I've also tried a couple of incredible blanche. One from an amateur brewer in Hamburg with no name in it during a beer festival and another called Fear of the blanche from Birrificio Calibro 22 in Italy, two blanches actually quite similar; very spicy with clove, ginger, cinammon and cardamom going on in them. Absolutely delicious. According to my Untappd notes I also love Black Forest Cake by Black Forest Brewing in Germany; Moka Warriors and Perseverance from Cierzo in Spain; Weiherer Weizenbock as my fave Weizen, as for helles / lager and other close styles, I'd say Rosita in Spain and Chimay Dorée are profiles that I like very much.
One of my fav beers was going to the Cloudwater and Track taproom up in Manchester and trying the Double Choco & Vanilla Chocolate raspberry cake imperial stour and the S'mores imperial stout by both breweries respectively. It was my 3rd week in the UK, and I had arranged to meet with a good friend in Manchester and brought along my partner. I remember entering the taproom on a Friday night and firstly being in awe with the vibe and beauty of these two places. The beers tasted as the names suggested and it just instantly took me back to childhood memories. I remember looking at everyone and saying we have to remember moments like these ( I clearly had a few drinks down by then ). It's still a memory that makes all of us smile till today!
A couple of my faves are brewed here in Canada by Unibroue, Blanche de Chambly and La Fin Du Monde. The first is a Belgian-style wheat ale and the latter is a 9% triple, both are fantastic. Besides that some of the Trappists are excellent, Rochefort 8 and the red Chimay especially.
Great list. Especially the “straight from the bottle” magic of Augustiner. That stuff is incredible. Yes, it’s sulfury, and it’s different from nearly every other German lager. But it’s simply addictive and I would recognize it blindfolded. (All the others on this list are also superb…though I haven’t tried the pastry stouts).
The best beer I've ever had in my life was at Side Project in Maplewood, MO. That beer was Derivation 12. My fiancé surprised me with a trip there for my birthday in December 2019, and they just happened to have bottles available for on-site consumption. We loved it so much that we drank two bottles.
It's all about context isn't it? Best beer experience was in Accurat in Stockholm with my very best friend drinking outrageously expensive bottles of "Collaboration Not Litigation" (colab between Russian River and Avery). Outstanding and a night that is burnt into my soul!
Love from Massachusetts! Treehouse opened up a smaller location in Cape Cod which is thankfully closer to where I lived. Moved to North Carolina last year and every trip back up necessitates restocking. They don't have a bad beer on their roster. Best beer I ever had was Autumn Blaze by Saint Lawrence in New York. Had in a flight while out for my birthday one year and fell in love. Not the best reviewed but I think it is the BEST seasonal beer.
One hidden gem I found is Salzburg’s Augustiner, which has nothing to do with THE Augustiner but is at least just as good and supercrushble, specially straight from their biergarten’s wooden casks and by the stein. Brad, if you’re reading this you might want to check it out and compare to the Augustiner Munich Helles.
A homebrew friend of mine went working on the east coast for a week. He brought back a suitcase full of alchemist, treehouse, Surly, 3 floyds...... I can still to this day years later remember the experience i had opening a can of julius. NEIPA didn't even exist it was just breweries making IPA's that were seriously hazy. Above all the hype from others i think treehouse truly nailed it. That Doppelganger is a bit of a beast too.
Have to agree with the Augustiner! My favorite, even after 1000+ beers, however, is still Rochefort 10. It still puts a smile on my face everytime I have one.
Discovered 'Faith' by Northern Monk last year, I'd been worried about my mum going to hospital and at the same time had a leak appear in my hallway. I was so full of anxiety and couldn't sit at home with my thoughts so went out. Everywhere nearby was closed, but I found a place open that happened to be serving this on tap. Thankfully my mum was alright and the leak was fixed. I've since tried other beers by Northern Monk, but Faith remains my favourite of theirs.
It’s hard to pick a favorite beer, or even compile a top 10, but one that I’ll always remember is Green Flash Palette Wrecker. A phenomenal west coast IPA
I've been brewing for 20 years, and am totally open to both traditional and new ideas, including decoction, low oxygen, double dry hopping, malt conditioning prior to crushing etc. etc. But, with a huge emphasis on the pause there, but those, THOSE, Bermuda shorts... they fall 'short' of nothing. When you're exposing your frank so close to your beans, and when you know that fabric hugs tighter than Chewbacca rolling on a huge chow of MDMA, and it holds you closer than a primate in Neverland Ranch. wow..... complete respect....
First time trying grape lambic in Brussels, having gone there on ascension weekend when all the "cool" places like Cantillon were closed, and we somehow found our way to a hole in the wall called "Family Brews" and got our hands on the first ever S:t Lamvinus we'd ever had. Having heard how great this grape lambic was we were just in absolute awe of being able to find it. Safe to say that it lived up to expectations, and my own, and my friends love for lambics have never faded since that day. Still brings a smile to my face, despite it never being as good as that first time whenever I try it.
Jever is by far my favorite beer. I have never fund anything else that compares. The bitterness (not to be confused with hoppyness), the crispness ... it's just the best. Don't know why you are all wrong but I won't hold it against you ;)
@@TheCraftBeerChannelto recommend are Sullivans red,Porterhouse XXXX stout/Wrasslers stout, Porterhouse oyster stout, Lineman Astral grains foreign extra stout, West Kerry brewery porter,O’ Hara’s single and double stout,Wicklow wolf apex oatmeal stout, St Mel’s brown ale, Four provinces Gob Fliuch dark mild, Brehon brewhouse ulster black oatmeal stout, Kinnegar yarnroddy porter, Heaney red, Ballykilcavan blackwell stout, White deer stag stout single stout and stag stout export stout, Galway Bay Ostarra, fleggy shore, Galway Hooker pale ale,O Brother brewing nightcrawler milk stout, Sam Smith’s chocolate stout, Wicklow Wolf pointy shoes imperial stout, Dundalk bay red and single stout, Porterhouse chocolate stout and plain porter, White Hag black pig dry stout and dare I say it Worthington White Shield. As for context there is not much mainly my brain thinking this is heavenly and how styles of beer can differ from brewery to brewery.
Old Peculiar "from the wood" in Craven Arms, Appletreewick. 16th Century thatched roof pub and barn, serving incredible Yorkshire food and barrel aged Old Peculiar from cask in perfect condition. The wood smooths out any rough edges from the sugar and makes it so fucking moreish. My father in law went and drank about five pints just before he died and proclaimed that he wanted to move into the village. We try and go back as often as possible in his honour.
Hey guys! I love your videos, been watching them ever since the beginning and the growth of the channel has been amazing! But I would like to express that I enjoy watching the videos not as much when you guys are standing up and arn't sitting down... I miss the video's on Brad's couch and the feeling I was drinking a beer with my bud's instead, now, feel like I'm watching a lecture. Just my 2 cents. Keep up the amazing work!
Fellow Torontorian as well! Here's my list of beers to try in the GTA: Great Lakes Brewery: Canuck Pale Ale Godspeed Brewing: Bůh Third Moon Brewing: Bone Tree IPA Sawdust City: Lone Pine West Coast IPA Silversmith Brewing Co: The Black Lager
Bathams Bitter, nectar of the gods. There's just something about sitting in one of there proper pubs in the Black Country with a fresh golden pint that can't be beat, a true regional specialty!
Probably my favourite beer moment was sat, drinking Noa Pecan Mud Cake Stout in Omnipollos church, such a neat and unique venue and drink. Just thinking about the place makes me want to just head for the airport and jump on a flight!
Some great beers in there. Of all the ones I've had from your video I would have to say Heady Topper would be my fav. It's just the perfect synthesis of the west coast and east coast DIPA for me. Super balanced though and you forget how strong it is.
In no particular order: 1. St Bernardus Xmas 2. Omnipollo Tefnut Double PBJ 3. Mikkeller Beer Geek Fudgesicle 4. Amundsen Dessert on a Can: Coconut Chop Chop Cookie 5. Thornbridge North Bridge 6. Samichlaus (2014) 7. 3 Founteinen Oude Geuze Cuvee 8. 4BREWERS Doza 9. Lindemans SpontanBasil 10. Harviestoun Ola Dubh 12 Year Special Reserve
Avec les Bons Voeux from Dupont has a special place in my heart, there really is nothing like it. It's almost like a nice champagne. Other favourites are Vahtra by Põhjala, Pannepot grand reserva by Struise Brouwers and of course Orval. Also want to shout out my local talents at De Kromme Haring who brew an awesome black IPA called Inktvis (squid) which is amazing straight from the tank.
Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, NY is my vote for their variety. Younger guys like you prefer IPAs brands. I did too at one time. I can't take the bitterness anymore so I stick to Lagers My every day is Yuengling Lager!
I always come back to the Helles & Pilsners. Augustiner from cask in Munich is hard to beat. Pilsner Urquell in Prague similar. Keller Pils from Lost&Grounded another favourite.
Fantastic indeph video from people who love beer I love 1698 and old peculiar I know there supermarkets beers but I think they are superbly brewed and very individual beers 🍻
jeay got a Heart. Would you should try is barfüssler in Ulm and Schwarzbräu from Jettingen-Scheppach. Schwarzbräu Exquisite is one of the best beers I had ik my life.
I've had five of your picks. Don't disagree with any of your choices, but I actually like Russian River's Blind Pig a tad better than Pliny. Some of my other fav beers....Morticia by Barrier Brewing. It's probably my favorite stout. Thick, viscous, slightly chocolatey and the oak aging just elevates it. Penultimate Push from Cigar City is another excellent stout in my opinion. Gillian by Goose Island...the one that got me into Saisons.
The Alchemist: Luscious - had it camping in Vermont, not too long after buying it at the brewery. Long Trail: Double Bag - had it hanging out by the Hoosac Tunnel in North Adams, Mass getting stoned and talking about music with new friends Fuller's: London Porter - Had it at the British pub in Albany after an Albany Symphony concert at the Palace Theater Otter Creek: Sphinx - No longer available. It was a supposedly Egyptian-inspired beer, brewed with honey and chamomile. It was weirdly good, had it the first night of a camping trip of which I have pretty fond memories on Lake Champlain. The Alchemist: Crusher - see entry for Luscious, different camping trip Russian River: Pliny the Elder - Get lucky enough to try this sometimes Fiddlehead: Hodad - Don't really have any specific memories for this one, but c'mon, it's Hodad. It's a good time all on its own. Hoegaarden - had a lovely lunch in Great Barrington, Mass a long time ago with this on tap
Pilsner Urquell Saison Dupont Orval (regular and/or Vert) Rodenbach Grand Cru (or Vintage) Russian River Blind Pig Gueuze ( 7-10 years old, probably Cantillon (and/or aged CSG and/or aged Iris and/or RDG with a few years on it and/or Mamouche)) Kuhnhenn Brewing Fourth Dementia Old Ale Westy 12 De Ranke XX Bitter Should have a stout/porter/Baltic porter. Probably need a UK real ale, most probably an ESB off an engine. Not sure about this last one. So many good beers and entire styles I'm missing! Ages ago, I heard/read a guy list his 5 top beers: - the beer you have now - your next beer - a free beer - a beer you've made - a beer you remember
My favourite beers will always be Tennent’s and Guinness. Guinness is my favourite, it’s where my love of beer began and it’s my choice of drink in almost every pub with the skill to pour a good pint, Tennent’s is the beer of the Scottish people and as such will always have a place in my heart, here in Scotland if you walk into most pubs and demand simply “a lager” the bartender will almost always give you a pint of Tennent’s Lager, it’s as quintessentially Scottish as Guinness is Irish.
My top 11 beers I always want to have around me: (not necessarily my favorites though many are - but beers I want to always have access to) Permanent Funeral - Three Floyd's Focal Banger - The Alchemist Grevensteiner Original - Brauerei C. & A. Veltins Korea Imperial Amber Ale - Browar Fortuna Wood Ya Honey with Nuts - Jackie O's Sip of Sunshine - Lawson's Finest Liquids The Great'er Pumpkin - Heavy Seas Dead Guy Ale - Rogue Brewing Zundert 8 - Trappistenbrouwerij de Kievit Brooklyn Lager - Brooklyn Brewing Urbock - Schlenkerla (Heller-Bräu Trum)
The Andechs doppelbock stands out to me for its plummy, dark fruit notes. It’s hard to find where I live in the US but when I was a guest at a German club and got to taste it on draft I joined immediately. It puts me in a contemplative mood.
I am a Londoner and went to Track after seeing your video. Language barrier and Chubbles at Cloudwater were two of the best I've had. Lots of great beers in and near the Bavarian Alps. Maybe an Augustiner and Schnapps in Garmisch after a winter hike if I had to choose one.
My favorite beer moment was in Decorah, Iowa in the US when I had the best beer I've ever tasted at Toppling Goliath Brewing Co; Mornin Delight. I had never experienced a stout of such quality that is so smooth and tasty. The flavors of coffee, maple syrup and vanilla blended so well in a stout. It was the most delicious beer I have ever tasted. Even my girlfriend at the time (now fiance) who does not like beer took a drink of the 12% abv stout and loved it. I have had some stouts that come close, but no experience quite like that. Not an everyday drinking beer by any means, but definitely the best beer I have had to date. Excellent top 10 beers you guys put together. Cheers! 🍻
Also agree that Pilsner Urquell is one of the best. Duvel is also one of my go-to beers. Both amazing for widely available beers. Then All Caps Pilsner from Mondo Brewing in London for my favorite craft beer.
Back in the early 2000’s I had a beer in Lake Tahoe NV at the yacht club called a mahogany ale in a 24 oz beer mug. Haven’t had anything like it since. Such a great caramel sweet, bready flavor. Since then I had a maple stout from Clown Shoes that to me, is the best stout out there
Mena Dhu Stout from St Austell. With a fairly low ABV for a stout it is exceptionally sessionable. Smooth but bold and it just becomes more fun with every sip. I discovered it at Samuel Jones in Exeter after spending the morning taking a walking tour of the city. I was knackered, thirsty, hungry and refused to go any further until I had a pint. Mena Dhu caught my eye and from the first sip it was just a little bit of heaven. Come to think of it I never did order anything to eat at that stop, just filled up on that glorious liquid black.
Interesting video. Can remember having Allagash White sitting on the harbour in Boston, fantastic beer, travelled around Cape Cod and up to Portland and got to try it some more. Pity its so hard to track down in the UK. Have always been a big Belgian beer lover from way back, Hoegaarden Grand Cru still one of my faves.
Been to Belgium many times and drunk hundreds of brilliant and sometimes weird beers, but I always bring a case or 2 of Moinette and Saison DuPont (both from DuPont brewery). For me it's summer in a glass. Honourable mention for Poperings Hommelbier too.
Great list! The Allagash white is really such an amazing beer, I feel lucky to live in the northeast, where is it is pretty readily available is many supermarkets and restraunts. Probably my favorite beer that I have ever had was the Märzen from Augustiner Bräu in Salzburg while traveling in Austria. Such a great beer, made even better by the really incredible atmosphere in their beer garden
@@karenhughes2308 Fun fact: there is the only one place in Vienna where you can buy bottles of salzburger Augustiner - it's a Wiener Würstelstand, small kiosk where you can buy hotdogs, bosnas and stuff like that. Years ago there was a restaurant Bamkraxler with augustiner from holzfass, but it's closed now. Every time when I'm around Salzburg I go to Augustiner Braustuberl!
You should clarrify "Pembo" as the Pembury Tavern in Hackney. To be fair, we usually meet there before the "Pigs Ear" beer fest' round the corner or to start a London pub crawl. Haven't been there since it was a Milton Brewery pub though, just prior to covid.
Mine that I would say is my all time favorite, which I swear is one of the hardest questions ti answer, Juicy from RAM Brewing (out of Business), it was the first Hazy Beer here in Chicagoland, it was breath of fresh air here, and it made the head brewer a Super Star in the brewing community here. 🍻
One of my favorites right now is Juicy bits NEIPA. It's from a brewery in Colorado called Weldworks. I think you all should add Colorado to your beer vacation list. There are tons of good breweries there.
In no particular order: 1. Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald- the perfect porter™ 2. Bourbon County Brand Stout-including variants 3. New Glarus Two Women (helles lager) 4. Alchemist Focal Banger (IPA) 5. Pliny the Elder (double IPA) 6. Hofbrau Oktoberfest (Marzen/Octoberfest) 7. New Glarus Weizen Doppelbock (weizenbock) 8. New Glarus Moon Man (pale ale) 9. More Brewing Away From The Norm (red ale) 10. Bells Oarsman Ale (wheat ale) - Unfortunately retired, but was my go to summer ale while it was around
Y'all need to try some beers from Weldwerks here in Colorado. Hands down my favorite brewery. Untappd says I've checked in 233 different beers from them.
Estrella Galicia in Catalan Spain. Budweiser if you are drinking it in The Czech Republics. Newark Local Beer if you are in Newark, NJ. If you are in Budapest (the Buda side of the Danube find Monyo. The best craft I drink there but is is a walk from the apartments where I usually find cheap rents near markets
Unpasteurized Urquell is my favourite. But Augustiner Brau in Salzburg is a close second. Third place would be Augustiner Munchen poured directly from wood barrel. In the USA, the best one was in Salt Lake City at Grid Brewery, the only american beer that i tasted in the same level as european beer.
Just gotta Add Fidens to the list now. They are up ther with the best in the US. And they just opened their brand new taproom so you can try all the beer youd like there! also now its like no wait to get into any treehouse if you go at the right time lol... also gonna have to disagree with Allagash white, its like the pinnacle of an OK beer lol
If I could go back in time, Hopback Summer Lightning would be on my list. First had this in the summer of 1996, sitting on the bowling green of the Caledonian Brewery in Edinburgh. There was no other beer as hoppy and fresh at that time. Alas, it is not the same beer nowadays.
Not a great fan of British paler coloured beers but I'll make an exception for that..................................and Jaipur! Not the same beer you say? I don't know, haven't had one on draught for about five or more years?
@@johnp8131 I bought a case a few years back as a nostalgia trip. My own tastes have changed over the years but I also think the beer had too. I was disappointed but not surprised that it didn't live up to my historical expectations.
Other Half, I'm telling ya, you have to visit in NYC. There's a reason why they up there with Hills Farmstead and Tree House. Every beer on my flight was mind blowing. At least 3 became all time faves
Mock me if you will, but I really miss Kronenbourg Blanc. Used to be able to get it on fraught inthe UK then disappeared almost as quickly as it appeared. Also, my fave Belgian that I discovered in a tiny beer cafe in Maastricht (run by the Bier Doctor) is Pater Lieven. Love that stuff.
@@TheCraftBeerChannel It was more idea that a Kronenbourg was getting some love… But, yeah, my knowledge of the UK wit/wiesse scene is practically zero, so appreciate the recommendation.
My favorite beer memory is actually of Blanc. I used to live in a rural area of Finland a few years ago and one late night me and my friends decided to head to town and hit its most popular bar. When we got there, however, it was overflowing with people. We headed to another bar by the town square maybe 100 meters away and it was almost completely empty. We sat down on the terrace and one of my friends ordered a personal Blanc beer tap. So there we were sitting on the terrace of this empty bar in the corner of the desolate town square under a starry sky as my friend poured pints of cold Blanc for all of us. Beer has never hit the spot as much as it did then. Every time I pour myself a Blanc nowadays I'm chasing that feeling and taste of that particular night.
Russian River Blind Pig Alchemist Focal Banger Parish Ghost in The Machine… Equal Parts Loggerbeer (on the sidepull nice and frothy) Cowtown High Brau And a big shoutout to my good friends at Celestial Beerworks in Dallas TX! They hold about 3 or 4 of my favorite beers, including Nowhere Man, a Pistachio pastry stout, drank in the company of good friends! They also have an amazing italian pils called galactic gondola that they change the art up on every year with all their brewers and employees floating on a gondola feeding eachother spaghetti! Last one goes to their Stars series of hazies. If youre in the US next time, visit these legends! And more i’m gonna think about!
I heard that as on CAMRA p. I love De Dolle. A brewery-visit is a must. Stille Nacht is amazing. Augustiner is only sulphuric when it's hot/exposed to the elements. Julius and Green are the best NEIPA but their best is the coffee stout 'Good Morning' Holy crap. Please try De Struise Pannepot and Black Albert and Tipopils and Cantillon Lou Pepe are top ten. I do agree generally with your top ten dudes. I had a tour at Allagash, amazing venue. Also the most underrated beer in the world tbh.
Since the expansion 4 years or so ago Pliny is easily available all over town here in the SF Bay Area. I did watch the video of your visit to RR, but I can't remember, did you drink Blind Pig as well? It's the Focal Banger to your Heady Topper in a sense. I love them both but most days I'm reaching for a fresh Blind Pig.
Haha yeah it's the same kind of argument! Love Blind Pig, but there are other IPAs are clean, crisp and aromatic. Not had a DIPA that came close to Pliny.
Great video, I live in the US and I’ve been pretty lucky to have all of the beer on your list and been to most of the breweries. Russian River is next on my list and then soon after that is Munich. Cheers
Actually heading to Alchemist end of August, can't wait. Sadly being from Canada, we can only bring back one 24 pack per person. So 24 from Alchemist Hill Farmstead is closed while we are there sadly, so will head down to Deerfield where Tree House has a location to fill up on the other 24. All the while staying in Littleton, NH, just a stone's throw from Schilling Beer Co., which makes some very great European style beer, from Czech Pils to German and Belgian Hefe, and all points in between. If you guys ever find your way back to New England and in the NH/VT area, they are definitely worth checking out. Of course, after your tour of Atlantic Canada's best craft breweries! Hint, hint.
Was going to visit the Alchemist about 15 years ago after we got done with Ben and Jerry's. Unfortunately, the place was destroyed from a flood like a weekend earlier and was temporarily closed. Sucks
Thank you for this list! I am definitely going to try to get some of these over here in the states, if I can find them. Allagash White is one of my favorites. Glad to see you guys feel the same! I have always thought it was a great beer! I know it's obviously tough to get many American brews in U.K., but if you have the chance try to get Two Hearted by Bells, an solid American IPA and Founder's Dirty Bastard, a Scotch Ale, they are two of our best here in Michigan. I have been fortunate to travel to U.K. a half dozen times, and try all I can, but can't wait to get back and try more that you have emphasized! Thanks!
Having a Sweet Mary (double bock) from Svaneke Bryghus served fresh in their taproom in Svaneke on Bornholm (Denmark). Doesn't get much better than that! And bock is such an under rated style. Followed closely by a tasting of Cantillion Kriek at their taproom. The taste, the smell, the room. It's just liquid history.
You have to try a Double IPA from IL brewer Hop Butcher of the World. They change up versions they release weekly but 9 times out of 10 their DIPA are stellar.
1. Saison Dupont. Such a wonderfully complex, but still easydrinking beer. Their yeast just does something special. 2 Augustiner Edelstoff coming right out of the wooden cask at Augustiner Keller in Munich. If you sit in the beer garden and knock back Mass after Mass, you know life is good. Always my first stop whenever I´m in Munich. 3. Spezial Rauchbier Lager as any best of beer list needs a (smoked) beer from Bamberg on it. I´m well aware that most people woud go for the better known Schlenkerla. Both beers are absolutely amazing but to me Spezial is just a tad more drinkable. On that note: you guys need to do a Bamberg episode - just an amazing beer city. 4. Pale Rider served from Cask in the Fat Cat in Sheffield. One of the best Cask Ales I ever had, served in a wonderful pub. 5./6./7. Schönramer Pils / Riegele Augsburger Herren Pils / Keesman Herren Pils. I just needed to have a great Pilsner on the list but I really couldn´t decide. I tend to prefer the german style pilsners over the czech versions. These are all great examples: firm bitterness upfront followed by a lovely noble hops aroma profile and just infinitely crushable. And Keesmann just proves that there´s amazing beer in Bamberg, even aside from smoked beer. 8. Schuhmacher Alt. Drinking Alt beer in Düsseldorf is just an amazing experience. I found Schuhmacher to be the most well-rounded and balanced of them. And their brewhouse is a bit outside of the city centre or old town. So you get to drink with locals and avoid the drunk tourists and stag parties. 9. Päffgen Kölsch. Drinking Kölsch in Cologne is a unique beer experience as well. Päffgen is my favourite by far. Always light and drinkable but never bland (as some Kölsch can be unfortunately). 10. Kirkstall Brewery Black Band Porter served from cask in the Kirkstall bridge inn. I just love Porter as a style, even better when it´s served from cask.
On holiday in Berlin, and just enjoyed an Augustiner Helles from oak cask earlier today at their Gendarmenmarkt place. It was always an absolute favourite of mine from the bottle anyway, but you just can't beat a maß of it straight from the wood! Great video, keep up the good work 🍻
Probably get slain for this by true beer experts but Theakston's Old Peculier would be on my list. Packs a punch, cheap and easy to find, and has just that extra depth of flavour to it over many of the other ales you can buy in a supermarket, or even, if you're lucky, in a shit pub. Lots of fond memories drinking it with a now departed friend and getting very messy.
IPA, for me, is Fat Head's Head Hunter, because it's great AND I can actually buy it anytime I want. I great beer that I can enjoy with my friends trumps a greater beer that I can't reasonably get.
Location: Straffe Hendrik in the courtyard of the brewery in Brugge Beer: A really hard choice. My favourite IPA's have come from Fidens, tank Pilsner Urquell my favourite lager. My favourite stout probably De Struise's Black Damnation: Octopussy
it is worth the trip to Brussels only to have some proper fries/chips and visit the Cantillon brewery......buy up as much as you can carry home and drink a couple liters to see how cool the place is....plus never tell others how this place is so cool (soon it does not turning into a Disneyland tour).....except spiders in your house who hope to die and get reincarnated as Cantillon brewery spiders......
My absolute best experience drinking a new beer was at the Chicago Airport right before Christmas. I was tired as hell from my trip (physically and emotionally) while also being unknowingly very sick. All I wanted was to be home. It was at the Goose Island bar where I had their "No Plans Pale Ale" while I waited for my flight. I only had enough cash to afford one glass, so I cherished every sip while having a very friendly chat with a stranger. A classically magical airport moment. A beautiful beer and a pleasant chat was what I had so desperately needed that day. The No Plans Pale Ale was my great reintroduction into beers that had a lot going on while somehow "balancing" multiple elements at once. To memory, it was bitter and piney like a west coast IPA while also carrying a complex type fruitiness that I don't think I'll ever find again (but I'll keep looking). This felt like the first time I had found a pale ale that juggled a lovely dank aroma on top of incredibly clean drink-ability. Almost asked my wife to wire me money for a second airport-priced glass because it was that good.
I suggest a tour of Czech small breweries. Yes, tank pilsner is amazing. There is a huge variety of other pale lagers in Czech that don't get exported. Nova Sad in Harachov, JungBerg in Horic would be 2 examples but there are many.

I actually did the Pilsner Urquell tour because of your video. Amazing experience a must do for beer lovers. Keep the content coming.
Exponential Hoppiness, The Waldo's Special Ale & Sim-Tra. I like em dank.
Beer styles I like are Russian double stout, IPAs, Barley Wine, and Porters.
Just 104 beers in 15 days or 104 different types of beer in 15 days? 😅
@@jasondickinson4132 hahahhaha that was all I could handle!
You have an amazing wife!
Your wife is the boss!
A Brasílian all the way to oostvleteren in de Westhoek ? Nice !
I don't wan't to be "that Guy", but I can still recall a bottle of Adventinus Eisbock, on a holiday in Finland 23 years ago.
An exceptional beer in every respect.
Five Points Best! Fuelling our South London D&D sessions since 2021!
I'm only a few minutes in but those jazzy shorts are imprinted on my brain forever more.
I agree with the Pilzner Urquell brewery's underground barrels. Went there 25 years ago and the flavour still sticks in my mind.
Orval - a wonderfully unique beer. It must have been close to making the top 10...
Visiting the brewery / monastery in 2016 was my lightbulb moment that sent me on my journey into the depths of craft beer and hombrewing.
So close. Basically that or Arabier but picked Arabier because we don't talk about it enough on the channel
My top 10 would be:
"Weiherer", not Weiterer
@@danielprieto8315 yeah it’s the Marzen. Lovely beer!
La Fin Du Monde! Yes! Fabulous!
Side Project has some killer stuff. I had a BBT (Beer: Barrel: Time) that was aged in a Pappy Van Winkle barrel there a few weeks back.
This week they are holding their 9mth anniversary celebration for the cellar location.
I'm only going on the 10th though, that's barleywine day.
Yes with Pliny is till maybe my favorite IPA. I totally agree, I always tell friends when I share it with them, it is that perfect balance.
With so many great beers out there, I dont know how anyone can pick a favourite 😁
Omg. Augustiner taste off!!!
It's also one of the cheapest places to drink in Salzburg
Glad to see Julius on the list. I had the Oaked Julius last month. It’s only a 3 hour drive...
Yup wow Treehouse is amazing
Are you me? The 10 is insanely good.
Beer has a wonderful way of cementing moments and feelings like this. Glad it all panned out.
It’s hard to pick a favorite beer, or even compile a top 10, but one that I’ll always remember is Green Flash Palette Wrecker. A phenomenal west coast IPA
I remember drinking that beer in college some 10-12 years ago! The name was spot on and I loved that beer and brewery...
Frank and beans!?!?! That's gonna stick in my mind more than the shorts.
Don't know why you are all wrong but I won't hold it against you ;)
Got distracted by Brad's shorts so had to watch this again.
With you

@@TheCraftBeerChannelI would argue Irish single stouts from small independents are beautiful to drink out of the pint

Probably my favourite beer moment was sat, drinking Noa Pecan Mud Cake Stout in Omnipollos church, such a neat and unique venue and drink. Just thinking about the place makes me want to just head for the airport and jump on a flight!
Augustiner is simply hard to beat.
Some great beers in there. Of all the ones I've had from your video I would have to say Heady Topper would be my fav. It's just the perfect synthesis of the west coast and east coast DIPA for me. Super balanced though and you forget how strong it is.
In no particular order:
1. St Bernardus Xmas
2. Omnipollo Tefnut Double PBJ
3. Mikkeller Beer Geek Fudgesicle
4. Amundsen Dessert on a Can: Coconut Chop Chop Cookie

9. Lindemans SpontanBasil
Lervig’s 3 Bean Imperial Stout on tap at The Brunswick beer festival in Hove. An inspirational beer for me as a home brewer 🍻🍻🍻
Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, NY is my vote for their variety. Younger guys like you prefer IPAs brands. I did too at one time. I can't take the bitterness anymore so I stick to Lagers My every day is Yuengling Lager!
Best beer I ever had was at Russian River Brewery Pliney the Elder!!! My life was changed after that amazing beer!!!
Yeah Augustiner. Its one of my favourite. One of the first good beer i had in my life.
jeay got a Heart. Would you should try is barfüssler in Ulm and Schwarzbräu from Jettingen-Scheppach. Schwarzbräu Exquisite is one of the best beers I had ik my life.
Julius and all its variants are my favs, lucky enough to live less than an hours drive from their Cape Cod location!
Long Trail: Double Bag - had it hanging out by the Hoosac Tunnel in North Adams, Mass getting stoned and talking about music with new friends
Fuller's: London Porter - Had it at the British pub in Albany after an Albany Symphony concert at the Palace Theater
Otter Creek: Sphinx - No longer available. It was a supposedly Egyptian-inspired beer, brewed with honey and chamomile. It was weirdly good, had it the first night of a camping trip of which I have pretty fond memories on Lake Champlain.
The Alchemist: Crusher - see entry for Luscious, different camping trip
Russian River: Pliny the Elder - Get lucky enough to try this sometimes
Fiddlehead: Hodad - Don't really have any specific memories for this one, but c'mon, it's Hodad. It's a good time all on its own.
Hoegaarden - had a lovely lunch in Great Barrington, Mass a long time ago with this on tap
Somehow forgot to mention Westmalle or anything German/Czech. Oh well
Pilsner Urquell
Saison Dupont
Orval (regular and/or Vert)
Rodenbach Grand Cru (or Vintage)

Afghan pale ale,Grey trees, and if you go to the tap in Aberdare,it's only £3.50 a pint!
My top 11 beers I always want to have around me:
(not necessarily my favorites though many are - but beers I want to always have access to)
Permanent Funeral - Three Floyd's
Focal Banger - The Alchemist
Grevensteiner Original - Brauerei C. & A. Veltins
Korea Imperial Amber Ale - Browar Fortuna
Wood Ya Honey with Nuts - Jackie O's
Sip of Sunshine - Lawson's Finest Liquids
The Great'er Pumpkin - Heavy Seas
Dead Guy Ale - Rogue Brewing
Zundert 8 - Trappistenbrouwerij de Kievit
Brooklyn Lager - Brooklyn Brewing
Urbock - Schlenkerla (Heller-Bräu Trum)
It’s friday so yeah, burgers, beer (duvel triple hop) and a lovely video again! What a truly stellar list. Cheers everybody 🍻
The Andechs doppelbock stands out to me for its plummy, dark fruit notes. It’s hard to find where I live in the US but when I was a guest at a German club and got to taste it on draft I joined immediately. It puts me in a contemplative mood.
Great call. Wow Andechs is amazing
A buddy of mine bought me a 4 pack of Heady Topper recently when he was on vacation. We went to Russian River and I brought back some Pliny's.
TH-cam algorithm brought me here - best recommendation ever!
Stonecloud Brewery in Oklahoma City and Stillwater Oklahoma brews some amazing craft beers !
Thanks for sharing great video!🍺⛺❤️🔥
Thanks for watching!
I'm still dreaming of that place and that beer, well over a year later....

Haven’t had a few of these on the list … fingers crossed I will do one day . Pressure Drops ‘pale fire’ was always a favourite of mine
Gotta agree with this, best 2 DiPA I had this year were both Fidens. Both were up there with the best I ever had.

Super! Cheers! 🍺👍

@@heresiarch. This ‘person beer tap’ concept intrigues me…
Russian River Blind Pig
Alchemist Focal Banger
Parish Ghost in The Machine…
Equal Parts Loggerbeer (on the sidepull nice and frothy)
Cowtown High Brau
And a big shoutout to my good friends at Celestial Beerworks in Dallas TX!
I will always remember Pilsner Urquell for that beer catching strip game that was such a phenomenon in the early 2000s
great to meet you at Manchester craft beer fest, the tastings were awesome... stayed a bit too long 🥴😬
Festbier from Brauhaus Döbler in Bad Windsheim Germany. This was the beer that blew my mind!
Cheers
Best beer I ever had was a beer called De Garre from the pub in bruge, It was amazing.
I was scrolling through the comments looking for someone mentioning De Garre! My absolute favourite too!
Great beer!
Actually heading to Alchemist end of August, can't wait. Sadly being from Canada, we can only bring back one 24 pack per person. So 24 from Alchemist
Hill Farmstead is closed while we are there sadly, so will head down to Deerfield where Tree House has a location to fill up on the other 24.
Sucks
@@robmichael8136 alive and well in a new location now. Well worth the visit
Thanks!
Had Two Hearted many times and love it, but never drink Founders due to the appalling racism of the management.
I just needed to have a great Pilsner on the list but
I really couldn´t decide.
Great beer! Top 10... not sure, but if you love it, you own it!
IPA, for me, is Fat Head's Head Hunter, because it's great AND I can actually buy it anytime I want. I great beer that I can enjoy with my friends trumps a greater beer that I can't reasonably get.
Street-drinking beer is a nice way to say like your last helles and like your next one 😂
Location: Straffe Hendrik in the courtyard of the brewery in Brugge
Beer: A really hard choice. My favourite IPA's have come from Fidens, tank Pilsner Urquell my favourite lager. My favourite stout probably De Struise's Black Damnation: Octopussy
Love seeing my local Allagash White on this list
First time I had a Cantillon - Fou Foune, It was magical. It still is. But nothing beats that first time. Brilliant beer.
it is worth the trip to Brussels only to have some proper fries/chips and visit the Cantillon brewery......buy up as much as you can carry home and drink a couple liters to see how cool the place is....plus never tell others how this place is so cool (soon it does not turning into a Disneyland tour).....except spiders in your house who hope to die and get reincarnated as Cantillon brewery spiders......
Not a small brewery, but Bernard is a lovely beer.
Oh we have explored many and made films in a few!
In sweden we call it a "handbayern" referring to drinking a 50cl german beer straight from the bottle.
No way! I LOVE THAT
You swedes are so overdoing it - as always.
In Denmark we settle with a 33 cl bottle "håndbajer" (typically Carlsberg pilsner).
Cheers! 😉
@@MichaelAndersen_DK big brother needs a bigger beer 🍺 😝
Me as a bavarian smiling right now and enjoy a can XD
For me, Greatest IPA ever, Omnipollo Nebuchadnezzar
