I get so mad when people try to make sengun out to be a bad defender. He's at worst average,i would actually say he's a good defender. He's strong, his positioning is very good, he has quick feet to guard in space and he has excellent hands to get steals and deflections. Casuals don't understand that you don't need to get 2 blocks a game to be a good defender. If jokic can't back him down in the post and embiid is shooting step back 3s against him then what else is he supposed to do. You want him to guard shifty PGs as well???
his low post/1on1 defense is very good(unless its a speedster guard), other aspects are average or below average. but what is most important that, he shines on good team defense, filling the gaps good and doing what is required which is not flashy but it leads to steals and sloppy offense for the opponents. he plays smart team defense, but until players like Luka/Curry/Harden starts to hack the team defense, then whole defense is broken down, which at that point you need exceptional defenders to recover from that. and most likely he needs good defenders around him.
