Thank you for new information to me. I was a nine year old crazy about pop music in N London when Telstar was released. I used to buy one record a week with my pocket money, so I bought it immediately. I have only lately realised that other records I bought were also produced by Joe Meek. I knew what I liked and never bothered reading the labels. I used to mess around with tape recorders as a teenager to produce effects, it was a hobby.
Thank you for commenting and well done discovering this video, when I first started TH-cam channel, I had stories in my head that I wanted to do, Joe Meek and Joe Orton . Thank you for watching I found this story so fascinating it didn’t prove very popular but as long as someone finds it informative, it’s done its job…..thank you sir…..I also used to do special sound effects with tape recordings, I can’t help feel my kids are missing the fun that did bring. 👍
@@CuriosSpiritual I think you might be surprised at just how much interest there is in Joe Meek. For instance there are a lot of TH-cams featuring aspects of his life and work and they do attract comments and discussion.
I hate to be a tinfoiler but so much is off with the whole thing, for a start the idea that Heinz would be stopping off en route to gigs shooting rabbits and birds, I'm pretty sure he would've regard himself a cut above such peasanty pursuits by then were it for mere childish larks, 'stars' don't go running round muddy fields shooting stuff, I doubt it would be strictly for sustinance either as he would've been fed at his destinations as is usually custom for even moderately famous gigging acts, also the idea that Joe could reach the trigger of a rifle while its muzzle was under his chin seems pretty unlikely, especially given the short time he had to reload (supposedly the time it took for a fit young lad like Patrick to ascend a short flight of stairs) while in an adrenaline-fuelled fluster, then there's the alledged suicide note that Joe supposedly passed Pat before the incident, what happened to that? I see no evidence anywhere of its existence, given its significance you'd think Pat would've held onto that - especially to produce for evidence during his own interrogation, word was that Joe had upset a few nasty folks - namely the Krays - so rumour has it Joe was 'offed' with Mrs Shenton being in the wrong place at the wrong time but if that were the case why leave a witness in Pat? So many anomallies..
Music industry always populated by gangsters and sharks - music is POWERFUL ! We can sing “love love me do” or we can sing “anarchy in the UK” …….. whatever, it must be controlled by those that wish to control us 🦑

I liked Telstar... sounded futuristic and it was put together very well...
It's plain wrong that Violet Shenton's been forgotten. She should be commemorated too.
Why? I have to agree that Mrs Shenton is, was has, been forgotten.
Original Phil Spector
