That's erroneous thinking. The Procura della Repubblica acts independently from the Navy and its them that formulate the charges, in this case Art. 260 of the Penal Code. Hi Italian here. Your video didn't uncover such a mistery for the area, nor it did made national news. The articles you quoted come to a local news channel, unknown to the majority of Italians, and close to some local associations that in the past years campaigned against the navy and the naval base regarding a variety of matters. The whole asbestos debacle started in 2018 when a storm hit the city and damaged many roofs of the naval base. The local population living nearby requested the removal of the toxic material and some hope arose in 2020 when the defense commission finally allocated the money needed. Probably due to the long process for the navy commissions and public tenders and also due to the covid situation, the clean-up didn't start until spring 2022. Around mid 2021, the navy released the news that the defense commission authorized the projects and allocated money to remove the asbestos from the underground facility, which enraged some of the associations mentioned above.
Well the video did uncover the fact that the local authorities couldn't manage to maintain a door to a military facility that actually functioned. The door had one job : )
Prosecutors and law authority forced the navy to remove huge quantity of abandoned asbestos in the early 2000. Local population demanded roof asbestos removal since 2007 due the unsafe condition of the material. Hi, an Italian urbex here. I visited almost every abandouned military buildings in my city. Mostly from the cold war (as I live near the jugoslav border) , I also found a lot of asbestos, but luckily i Always wear a Italian cold war gas Mask. I can tell that when a military Place, when abandouned , Is supposed to have everything removed, so I think that here someone forgot to do it. Another interesting things, Is that the soldiers used to burn in there the old equipment, instead of selling It or bringing It in another place
with all that friable asbestos - if they were going to argue(absurdly) that it was an active installation in which espionage could occur - it would probably open them up to even more health and safety trouble vs framing it (correctly) a disused structure that was never properly cleaned up
Wow! I had no idea this happened to you, Bob. Sounds like they were being over dramatic with the initial espionage charges to inspire others not to explore the site, but thankfully they reduced it to something appropriate, still the lawyers fees. I’ll see what I can afford to chip in because I live vicariously through you guys and your adventures. Ultimately you did a good thing by inadvertently exposing some corruption regarding the lack of hazardous cleanup that was paid for. Let’s just all hope the place becomes a museum and not active due to a Third World War. Stay safe out there!
Yup! Time will tell what happens to that place. This happens way more often when we upload videos. So it costs you more than you earn🫣 But will never stop exploring, just stop posting videos if things like this continue.
@@ExploringtheUnbeatenPath I think you are going to end up having enough material to write a book about your adventures that won’t have room for pictures!
Sometimes no trespassing or private property means just that. We live in a dangerous time and the first casualties of war are truth followed by our freedoms.
I can't believe they confused urban exploring with espionage. We have an abandoned subway tunnel system here in the US which is locked up better than that military facility. Yes, that's to keep urban explorers out, but some do manage to get in. If you come to the United States, this likely wouldn't happen because the military wouldn't be stupid enough to leave a unlocked base lingering around. When you find an abandoned military facility here , it would be more likely to be a fort from the 1700s, which had been abandoned centuries ago- or rusted, rotting World War II structures long abandoned. Sorry you went through that. At least you taught the Italian military about urban exploring and got some asbestos cleaned up.
We’re fine luckily. O, and I can tell you there’s not much difference in the US with some places which should be locked up 🔒 😅 Thanks for checking out!
Sometimes people ask in comments section "why didn't you just cut the padlock or force your way in ?" or "why didn't you take that object it's valuable ?", well this video is the reason. They only ended up facing a trespass type charge, rather than a more serious charge of theft or breaking and entering.
This is great news , I think Italian Justice department should also Sue YT for allowing the video online for Months .... they should go after youtube with all their legal teams and demand Billions in compensation ... just sayin' ...
Hi bob, I dont know if you remember me, we talked in the directs of Instagram about this situation one year a go... and finally I have a clear view of what really happened to you step by step and what you and your friend might have faced off. Im so glad that you managed to avoid this crazy situation, (even though you had to pay your lawyer a good amount of Money in case this absurd situation escalated) and as an italian, im deeply sorry that you had to face a situation like that just for taking pictures and documenting an abandoned and rusted out Power station for the naval base.... And Yeah... Of course until your video was out, nobody else cared that much about the "bunker" only when there were problems with the absestos that everyone had to notice It and of course watch your video, just to point up that you could had espionaged some "military secret" .As you said in the in the video is particularly strange that here in Italy we react at this quickly at this kind situations, only when there Is something bothersome going on behind, and somebody dosen't want to let anybody else know about it...(In this case the state of decay in which the bunker was ), and when someone opens their eyes they have to have an excuse of some sort, and yeah as now days they should have started to clean up the area,to trasform the bunker into a museum as you said, but with covid and other minor stuff, they had delays.....Again Bob, im so sorry and embarassed at the same time seeing what you and your friend had to face. I Hope that this misadventure didn’t discourage you from coming more to explore places in Italy. With all that said I Hope you have a Great day Bob👋

So if you find some pile of burned stuff, i suggest to put One gloves and dig into It, beacause It May contain some.epic.objects
Also, i took with me One of those military sign, beacause why not
Keep doing what your doing.stay safe god bless.🙏
You should have brought biere, pomme frites, mosselen & had a picnic inside.😁
I usually do hahaha
with all that friable asbestos - if they were going to argue(absurdly) that it was an active installation in which espionage could occur - it would probably open them up to even more health and safety trouble vs framing it (correctly) a disused structure that was never properly cleaned up
Why do you say the bunker should have been cleaned up?
Thank mr bob such a nice episode
Thanks for watching Khel!
@@ExploringtheUnbeatenPath I hope it doesn’t come to that, but I’d understand if you had to stop posting.

@@danwilson9530 Thanks a million for that ! Really appreciated Dan :)

Já deixando meu like 👍🏻 minha nossa 😳👏 einta nós 😳✌️ vocês são nota 1000 parabéns amigo 👏👏
tnx for the video
Thanks!
Thanks for checking out
The fine was small but the attorney fees wow!!!!!!!
Just show your lawyer your youtube channel and they can present that to the court to prove that you don't destroy anything and you are not a spy.
Case is closed now and I tell everything what happened 😄
If only things were that easy
@@JanKowalski-xh4ri i know things aren't that easy, i never said it was easy. It was just advice for a start.
You're a badass. Keep going Sir.
You recently visited colorado. I've been wanting to check out that ghost town you saw. Now I've got second thoughts.
You don’t want to know what happened there also🫣🫣👀
@@ExploringtheUnbeatenPath I think you are going to end up having enough material to write a book about your adventures that won’t have room for pictures!
In italy is always like this, there are a few italian youtubers sued for the same reasons. Awfull.. every time..
Yeh, is always like this, you brake the law, get sued and if found guilty charged, every time...
Tu sei migliore in assoluto e vivo in Italia 🤗🤗🤗
If you are out with Bob and he says he is a little scared it is ok to poop yourself.
😂😂😂Yeah. I can tell you this was frightening! I guess these stairs were around 50 meter / 150ft at least. Normally my adrenaline level is always low.
As long as you don't stir up the dust the asbestos is harmless. The Dutch lawyers fees are way more toxic and damaging. Will help you out on gofundme.
only by walking around they are stiring up the asbestos dust
Thanks a lot mate 🙏 And for the asbestos, it was so humid it probably doesn’t get up in the Air
@@ExploringtheUnbeatenPath Glad to hear you were safe.
what a nice drill press, but a shame to let it and all the other stuff go to waste. The stuff in there cost many lire.
You guys are the real deal.
Thanks for checking out!
Sometimes no trespassing or private property means just that. We live in a dangerous time and the first casualties of war are truth followed by our freedoms.
Times changed like I say in the episode. This was before the treat of WW3😄
Damn, military stuff is a little sensitive, donation incoming 😳👍
It is! Especially in these times😮 Thanks a million in advance🙏🙏🙏
I support you guys and you’re pros so this sucks.
Thanks a lot mate😄 yeah and I have to watch out what I post in the future. It only happens when I upload adventures.
OMG this problem :O
@@ExploringtheUnbeatenPath Ha, ha, I'd also like to see you guys come here again.
That you could have been think before. This is the risk going somewhere without permission. Don't whine about it, stand it.
Just telling the story. My adventures never stopped.
Gelukkig goed afgelopen dus
Geen gevangenisstraf in ieder geval🫣
@@ExploringtheUnbeatenPath dat is het belangrijkste. Wat mij betreft speelt geld op zo'n moment geen rol.
i read it in the newspaper in belgium
It was indeed!
I'm glad it worked out mostly OK😊
Yes, me too Brenda! Thanks for checking out.
@@ExploringtheUnbeatenPath You're welcome😊 Stay safe in your adventures🧡
Sometimes people ask in comments section "why didn't you just cut the padlock or force your way in ?" or "why didn't you take that object it's valuable ?", well this video is the reason. They only ended up facing a trespass type charge, rather than a more serious charge of theft or breaking and entering.
Exactly. In cases like this I’m happy I don’t do things like this. You never know when it goes wrong.
When a place is fenced or gated, or has signs saying Do Not Enter…then Stay the F Out. Stop trespassing. It is NOT your property to do as you wish. Not to mention, what happens if you get hurt or cause others harm with your negligent actions ?
Stop looking at urban exploring / abandoned videos, because you have to copy paste this message all day.
Let's start making a digital back up of your channel in the case of, you know... If your channel ever gets offline... :D I wish you good luck with your issues!
That was just Sabre rattling they were pissed because you embarrassed them
Turns out it wasn’t and old bunker but their top new HQ 😬
Ciao, Conoscerai Lana Sator..... Sono 2 anni che non puo' uscire dall'Albania per una cosa simile alla tua... Ti e' andata bene!!!🤭🥰
I am sorry for your misadventure, but in Italy any military site is strictly forbidden, even if abandoned for years, inactive and in dilapidated conditions.
The abandoned bases where it is possible to enter have been demilitarized and are under the control of civil entities (municipalities, regions, etc.).
However, you have my utmost understanding and closeness, apart from the sentence "I'm astonished how fast this happened especially for Italy.". We are not the third world...
Cheers.
The Muskö base in Sweden was explored by an 35 yesr old Belgien male(Bob?) and a British male in 2018, they got caught and was sentenced to more than one year in prison.
Luckily not👀
This is what happens if you break the law, I don't understand what is strange about this happening in italy as well.
The muskö base has ALWAYS been a military object. Parts of the base was sold to a contractor/manufacturer for the military but not everything and most important, it was always a military object.
Guys. Please use respirators. Asbestos is nasty
We do in some places :) Should do it more though.
the lawyers tricked you guys lmao 10,000 legal fees. For such simple case.
Wat een avontuur mannen, wow
Whoop!!
I've watched several of your videos and it surprises me how often your illegally trespass. One day you'll go into the wrong place and your lawyers will not get you off.
The only way to document these places👀
lol their lawsuit doesn't mean shit nor can the Italian court touch you as long as you never go in that country
They onley had proof of trespassing hence the 250, no reason for a court session aka no proof.
From cold war urbexers to environmental savors in one law suite.
prelike and reminder
Thanks mate!
