I mean, it makes sense, the Destiny was originally built using Shinn's combat data from the Impulse, and was specifically tailored and tuned for him alone. The Immortal Justice was a watered down version of the Infinite Justice, which was tuned to match Athrun's piloting style(which he picked up from the Aegis). While formidable in its own right, and is decent enough for Compass's "Peacekeeping" motto, it completely clashes with Shinn's fighting style. Even from beyond the grave, Durandal still manages to screw his Allies over.
