The Young Mannheim Symphonists 2022 National Winter Academy, presented by the Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra, conducted by Mario Dobernig and directed by Nicole van Bruggen took place from 4-9 July 2022 at The King's School in Sydney.
The 2022 National Winter Academy culminated in this concert in which the Young Mannheim Symphonists performed the repertoire they had prepared throughout the week. The concert, performed in front of a live audience at The King's School was conducted by Mario Dobernig and included works by Strauss, Schubert and Beethoven. The energy on stage was palpable and the orchestra played with vigour, passion and intensity, bringing the knowledge and insights they had gained from the historically informed workshops and rehearsals to life.
Three musicians from the orchestra introduced the pieces with passion and conviction and the audience was overwhelmed by the level these students achieved in just five days of rehearsals. Attended by leading educators, teachers, friends and families, the young musicians were inspired to perform at their best.
