Achieving Biodiversity Goals Through Trade: Building on UN Biodiversity Conference COP16 Progress

This event builds on the outcomes of the UN Biodiversity Conference (CBD COP16), ahead of its resumed session, taking place in Rome, in February 2025. It offers a platform to explore opportunities for further collaboration in fostering sustainable trade within the framework of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF).
The event will open with the first high-level panel to set the Scene which will address progress made at COP16 and its importance in facing the triple planetary crisis, and how trade policies and trade instruments can contribute to achieving global biodiversity goals.
The second panel, “Focused Discussion on COP16 Outcomes and Opportunities to Foster Sustainable Trade” will provide more technical insights into the key outcomes of COP16. The session will explore the trade implications of these outcomes, identify potential opportunities to enhance sustainable trade practices, and outline actionable steps for the future. The event will conclude with an interactive Q&A session, offering participants the chance to engage directly with the experts.
