Wow that ending screen looks good for 2600

I like the INTV port much more but in a way there are not the same game. Very close but different enough. They both have great animation and their own vibes. Side note, my 2600 cart refuses to boot, maybe it has something to do with the switches. Thanks for that tip, going to try that before buying another copy!

The dropping of the bombs looks great... but that second level needs work! :D

I like the intellivison port much better. There are some things about the atari port i like but over all television knocks this one out of the park. Thanks for the great content. Just found out thunder cats had a video game, gotta check it out.

I just bought this two weeks ago - I had never heard of it before until I saw it at a local store. I think it was about $10 or so. I actually like it pretty well. I actually did not know that you could drop bombs until I saw your intellivision review last week! I had just kept flying with the crazy lady following me for 30 miles and hurling her Glaives at me!
The Skeletor level is not really fun at all. Just annoying to get hit all the time with those walls.

The graphics on the Wind Raider level actually look better than the Intellivision version, but the Skeletor fight is far inferior. I miss the sword fight animation.

Ha! I didn't know it had a second screen. Never played it long enough.

You just explained why I could never get this game to work!

I liked a few M-Network games, and I learned recently they were usually Intellivision ports from experienced Mattel programmers! They should have advertised "from the makers of Intellivision" since it was generally known to be a better system, though few owned it.
Too bad this one was so flawed, and they didn't bother learning the difference between A and B difficulty switches. Well, at least it's not the 1 in 100 game that uses the Color/B&W switch to do something important!
It's hilarious though that one would work as a pause button and kids couldn't get it to work! You'd think they would figure that out during kid-testing?

Actually, most of the M-Network devs never worked on the Intellivision. They were very different systems and programming the 2600 was a lot more difficult. Knowing how to develop for the Intellivision wouldn't have helped much.

@@Skane365 Well they would know the code of their own game. They said that Atari may have gotten licenses for arcade games, but they didn't get the code, but had to play the game in the shop and reinvent the wheel.

I don't remember it being widely known at the time that it was a better system... it was a very niche product that didn't sell very much compared to the VCS.

@@JustMe99999 Odyssey² and Atari 5200 sold 1 million each, ColecoVision sold 2 million, while Intellivision sold 3 million. Intellivision had a strong ad campaign saying their sports games were better than Atari, and they had space games too.
Atari VCS/2600 sold 2 million before Space Invaders (1977-9) and 2 million more the year of Space Invaders (1980), for a total of 10 million by Pac-Man's release in Spring 1982, and another 2-5 million 1982-3 domestically. Somehow they get to 30 million by 1992, perhaps with international sales (though not sure if this includes Gemini and licensed adapters to play their games on other's systems).

@@JustMe99999 The commercials made it "clear" that it was the "better" system. And it was truly clear that it had advantages. It also had disadvantages. I thought it was an excellent system BITD, and had fun playing at a friend's house, but never wished I had one instead of my Atari VCS.

Like all VCS games except pitfall 2, the music is awful and off key, Intellivision version is way better
