I love this video. I mean its hilarious and MufflerMan is one of my favorite content creators, but as a player I resonate a lot with Joey and his speech on getting back into the game that’s changed so much since my youth. Playing for pure enjoyment mirrors how much I’ve loved getting back into it again after and while the decks I play will never be meta, accepting new options and tweaking them to become stable again has brought a lot of joy to my recreational time.
I haven’t really much left the game, but I do pick up on the gimmicks as they happen. I’m against any deck built specifically to fit the “meta” because that’s dumb and boring. It’s why I like Structure Decks so much; they’re pre-built and ready for anyone to play. If you play to have fun, everyone wins. If you play to win, nobody’s having fun. And at that point, what’d be the point? Everything doesn’t have to be a competition.
Weevil thinks that Traptrix is an innocent flower garden of cute little girls. The lore reveals that it's actually a dangerous forest filled with carnivorous plants and insects that use the corpses of their female victims to lure unsuspecting wanderers to their doom 💀
He knows full well of that (he mentioned how it's an entire ecosystem), which is the main reason why a self proclaimed bug guy like him play the deck. He knows they're giant insects and plants using baits disguised as cute little girls. It's just that the artwork simply appeal to his *other* fetish... but unlike other people playing the deck for similar reason, he didn't hide it (or he's just simply thinking too out loud)
@@dylanhelvetios2300 Official design concepts reveal that the bodies of the "girls" are just parts of the plants/insects. Though it's possible that despite that they still have some form of sentience. Atypus practicing her smile, Holeutea (and really all of them) putting on clothes, Cularia crying when she feels lonely... Though you could also argue that it's not true sentience and they're just perfecting their bait.
Assuming Weevil plays 40 cards; Starts with 40 cards, draws 5 to open leaving 35 in deck. Plays desires taking out 12 cards, 23 cards. Pudica effect, 22 cards. Myrmeleo effect followed by Sera, leaves 20 in deck. mbt being 1 degree away from Melty Blood or Fate/Grand Order was not in my cards today lmfao
stuff like this proves konami just needs t o remake the OG anime (or better yet mix all the universes) into a show with modern cards. it can be done. people would love stuff like this.
have yami yugioh play branded!
They should adapt the OCG Structures Manga, but make it more like Arc V in terms of Universe Spanning.
@@ShadowReignhart the only problem with the OCG structures manga is that it's about a bunch of kids from ages like 10 to 15 because it's literally made to get kids into playing the card game, so a lot of old school fans will see it and pass it up the same way they did after 5D's. In fact the character designs are so ZEXAL/ARC-V that it hurts, and with barely anything nostalgic in there to tie it all back, it's just not gonna hit the audience of anyone except children and already-converted diehard YGO fans.
Yugioh didn't have an anime for quite some time
Give Tristan and Tea actual decks!
Burst out laughing IRL when Hardleg flashed on screen. Not often you see him referenced in the online Yugiverse

Weavil banished 10 cards to start then did quite a bit of milling im counting like 20-12 cards left in deck off a rough count man
It’s easy, bro, just voice Jaden when he does the inevitable GX video👀
I'm pretty sure Jaden showed up in the Yugi vs Kaiba video, so he might already have a VA for Jaden.
I suppose, I'm not the first person to point this out, but the background music that plays when Weevil activates Maxx "C" isn't "Passionate Duelist" but "God's Anger".
This was way more hype than modern Yugioh deserves. Genuinely impressed they managed to make this so fun and interesting.
this is exactly the amount of hype modern yugioh deserves.
The game can be this fun and interesting though.
I'm slowly getting into the game starting from goat format, and altho I'm a bit scared of going into modern Yu-Gi-Oh, this guy's videos make me wanna try
Modern Yugioh is pretty fun when you aren’t playing against Snake Eyes tbh.
@@Endershock1678Bro replace snake eyes with any of the other four tier zero formats we have had recently 😂 it’s cooked
@@timdoe8895 Tier Zero formats aren't the problem. Tier Zero formats can actually be fun af, since it all comes down to skill vs skill as opposed to, there are 10 viable decks this format and you can't have a gameplan for every single one of them. The issue is that the Tier Zero decks that have been played recently have all been decks that are just... not fun to play. They're also prohibitively expensive for a game where the biggest prize is a seven year old gaming console.
Modern YGO is kinda like riding a bike. Hard to learn at first, but once you’re familiar with certain cards and keywords, it becomes a lot easier to understand going forward.
@@AusVtuber tbf tier 3 rogue decks arent exactly trying to play a game of yugioh either rn. im hoping this upcoming banlist does something but the bar is on the floor and the game only gets more bleak when we get the azamina cards the snake eye hits will mean nothing
"Say goodbye to Diabellstar!" killed me immediately, what a good video, and such talented VAs
The Traptrix card art is super clever. For starters, they do a great job turning these random friggin' yeasts and stuff into adorable gals. Secondly, the monstrous form is always there in the card art with them, and is actually really imminently imposing, but you often don't notice it at first due to how the art is cropped.
This is THE BEST CONTENT ive ever seen in yugioh!!!!!!!!!!! I ALWAYS wanted something like this!
I though for a second that weevil was describing mystic mine💀💀💀
How did you think he was talking about dropping mystic mine in his opponent's draw phase 😂
@@ibra8096 its just the description he gave
@@ibra8096to be fair I’m pretty sure Battle City rules allowed all spells to be Quickplay
The occasional monogatari references go so hard
Masterduel could only hope to be this peak
feels like Weevil is if Dr Disrespect was a duelist
Mbt you are so truthfully real for watching the Patreon scroll. This is the most honorable and additive react I’ve ever seen.
I watched the original video at like 4am while getting ready for university, it felt like such a religious trip (I haven’t played since battery man was a thing)
Man, fuck Weevil, I'm dismantling my Master Duel Traprix deck😭
No one can waterboard this information from me
Angel gained its wings back
Girl go play a REAL trap deck like Paleo or Labrynth
Nature is healing
Same 😂
I love this video.
Thank you for showing me that channel, this video was funny
Joey Maxx C challenge with colossal warrior, I love it XD
I literally watched the modern yugioh series last night it was so fire
I just wanna point that that MBT's Chat is screaming at Joey to Ash Blossom the Maxx "C" while Weevil has Gravedigger's Trap Hole set smh
@@spearsageat least he simps more for the most adult of them
Corpse? I though it was just a mix of Dryad spirits and plant/insect traps users instead of trees.
@@Kylada-o5t Technically, that'd be Pinguicula. Though to be fair, Rafflesia and Pingu are matched in that category.
Assuming Weevil plays 40 cards;
Starts with 40 cards, draws 5 to open leaving 35 in deck. Plays desires taking out 12 cards, 23 cards. Pudica effect, 22 cards. Myrmeleo effect followed by Sera, leaves 20 in deck. Sera's second effect leaves him with exactly 19 cards in deck. 7000 lets Joey loop Collosal Fighter 23 times before running out of life
Edit: As pointed out, Weevil also draws 3 cards before battle. So he has 16 cards in deck before Joey loops Colossal Fighter
It's actually 16 by the time the loop starts since Joey summoned a Kaiju, Flame Swordsman and Colossal before officially starting the loop
@@silverstrider2046 That is true. Either way, it was a clever way to have Joey win
That bit when he played Max C was epic 😂😂😂😂😂
Ok props to the voice actors because they sound so close to the 4kids dub it's ridiculous
"Called by the grave" 😂
This might just be one of the greatest videos I’ve ever seen
He needs to get like tons of yugitubers...
I can't tell if the people in the stream chat saying Weevil can just Nib away the Colossal Fighter are doing a bit or not.
Considering the ammount of people on the original video constantly saying "wHy DidNt hE nIB?", im convinced people just dont know how nib works.
That said ive also heard "why didnt he use ash?" And i just think people genuinly dont know how yugioh works anymore and just think hand traps solve everything.
@@thunderhogTH Okay the ash one is even stranger, joey didn't play a single single card Weevil could ash lmao
@@thunderhogTHpeople can’t read I stg
You really expect Yugioh players to know how to read?
Man this may be a parody but these joey lines are on point.
I don't understand modern yugioh. As far as I'm concerned shit, basically witchcraft. But even I understood this video because, just like proper yugioh, it explains the moves.
You're absolutely right, this is peak.
Funny enough, the only modern-ish deck I have is a traptrix precon deck because "lolis that are actually the bait for giant monsters" is pretty funny to me.

6:17, I thought he was gonna say, "I went by loveable cutie in college" 🤣🤣🤣
Man, the god card scene followed by the dancing roach made me lose it haha
Legendary animation, happy to see MBT's reaction to it 😂
The vid is BRILLIANTLY done!
There's one sort-of-oversight in this duel. Weevil would definitely have a Ghost Belle in his deck, given his uh, proclivities. And it is an out to this combo, being able to activate in the Damage Step because it specifically negates activations.
This is why you never activate Maxx “C” during the draw phase lol
I had a match yesterday where I had to Maxx C in main phase instead of draw phase like I usually do (I really needed the draw). Immediately got Ashed and TTT'd. Then I loaded up a game and went first this time... With Called By and TTT in hand. Master Duel really just doesn't want to see a MP Maxx X
@Endershock1678 Unless its Thrust that can't happen because Talent needs a effect during the main phase to be activated and Thrust Turn 1 isn't even that good as 99% of the time the opponent has no monsters so it gets set and not added to hand
@@Loldino897 I mistyped, I meant "I had a match where I couldn't fire Maxx C in draw (as in I had to fire it in response to an effect in MP). It was like 2AM when I typed it

4:48 So I did some digging and according to the movie The Dark Side of Dimensions Yugi is 18, assuming this is before that since Yugi doesn't look post anime here we can assume he's between 15 and 16 because, high school student. For his grandpa to be 31... yeah the math ain't mathing so I'm assuming this is an old man moment of him forgetting how old he his.
Or it's a joke like Kearney from the Simpsons saying "As a teenager AND the parent of a teenager..."
Might be a reference to Megaman Battle Network, where there's a somewhat memetic old man in one of the games who says he's only 31 despite using the geezer portrait and sprite
Yea iv noticed youtube has a glitch where if you leave the video within a min or so, it says youve watches the entire video

The additions to the Kaiba tin XD
It's funny that was better duelling drama than most of yugioh anime duels
The other day, I did a similar strategy to deck out my opponent in master duel, but I was using raidraptors 😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂that max c made me laugh a lot
"Back in my day we had actual monsters for cards not this Waifu nonsense" rich coming from the man whos favorite card is Dark Magician Girl.
Tea’s voice actor sounded like she was so bored recording the voice lines lmfao
